Join Myf Warhurst and Zan Rowe as they debrief on the biggest conversations of the week about music, art, life and stuff. Bang On brings together two of Australia’s most respected and most loved music journalists and presenters – who are also great friends, with your one stop shop for all the conversations you need to be across this week (but just don’t have the time to read a think-piece about).
Breaking FARSHUN news; the Costume Institute has announced its 2025 exhibition which means we have our Met Gala theme and ooh boy are we pumped. In adjacent gallery news, the long held question "is this art?" has not been asked by a Dutch gallery worker. Whoopsies.
Fat Bear Week has crowned its incumbent champion (we luv u Grazer), and a Qantas in-flight entertainment fail has us remembering the olden days of forced viewing.
It's shaping up to be a big summer of music movies too, with Paul Kelly, Robbie Williams, Bob Dylan, and Pharrell all having their stories told in different ways. And we're banging on about a heartbreaking film you shouldn't watch on a plane, and the latest season of Slow Horses.
Oh, and if you see this in time, you can still vote for Bang On in the listeners' choice at the Australian Podcast Awards: https://www.australianpodcastawards.com/voting

Bang On is an ABC podcast, produced by Double J. It is recorded on the lands of the Gadigal and Wurundjeri peoples. We pay our respects to elders past and present. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the land where we live, work, and learn.
Ok how many people googled "The Joker" song after seeing Gaga sing it this week? Myf and Zan are here to unpack the week that was, and investigate whether Lady Gaga is a hornbag for Kath & Kim's theme song.
The courtroom saga of the MONA Ladies Lounge is the gift that keeps giving, and we debrief on the artist's win. And a great read in the New Yorker unpacks the trends, algorithms, and servitude we offer up to Instagram in our quest to be seen.
Bit of coin chat this week too, and we've been nominated for an award! Get behind us, Bang Fam! And we're banging on about the new 90's Vogue doco, and chef Ben Shewry's new memoir Uses for Obsession.

It's another big week but all good, Myf and Zan are here to make sense of it all for you. And oh boy, the internet has delivered.
In Detroit, a Bridgerton themed "experience" is drawing comparisons to the Wonka debacle early 2024 (and obvs we are all in). Speaking of period drama, Wuthering Heights is getting another remake, but fans aren't too happy about the casting of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
Live streams are going off for a Thai zoo and we have Moo Deng to thank. The baby hippopotamus is still at her adorable, CBF best (ahead of her deadly, will kill anything that crosses her era), and we can't look away. But Pesto is coming in hot, a cuddly big boi of a penguin closer to home.
We're unzipping Double J's "Filthy Fifty" to see if the list of the best f**king songs correlates to our own soundtrack, and banging on about new TV comedy The English Teacher, and French TV show La Maison.
This episode contains strong language.

We love a red carpet, we love an awards ceremony, we love the Emmys. TV's night of nights had some real highlights, and we go in on the big winners, the interesting category choices, and of course the FARSHUN.
The Office gets a local reboot, and we get a squiz at the first trailer. And there's a bit of argy-bargy between Morrissey and Johnny Marr about the future of The Smiths... we'll explain.
Men's undies are finally getting the glow up they deserve, and we're banging on about a couple of great reads from local authors.

Myf and Zan are back with a whole lot of music chat this week. As we press record the 40th annual MTV VMAs are on; always the most cooked red carpet of the year. The CMA Awards announced its nominations, and Beyonce is a glaring omission... We explore why.
Kendrick Lamar has been announced as headliner for the sports concert with the Super Bowl Halftime Show as it's crowning moment. And Taylor Swift has come out and officially endorsed Kamala Harris (we are here for her sign off).
Meanwhile Dave Grohl has knocked language out of the park with his weasel word announcement of an affair, and it's a loving farewell to the voice of our childhood: the iconic James Earl Jones.
And we're digging into the wild docuseries Chimp Crazy, and banging on about an Isabelle Allende book and Netflix's new series A Perfect Couple.

Myf and Zan are back and marking 300 episodes of Bang On! Saddle up for a wild episode capturing the week that was. Oasis' return, Adele's departure, Lana Del Rey's rumoured new boyfriend. Wait till you hear Myf's story about him.
We're catching up on hot goss since we last hung out too, including Logies chat and Myf's run in with a plover. Speaking of birds, we have some key Peregrine Falcon updates for the new series. Who would have thought when we started back in 2017 that "music, art, life, and stuff" would actually mean "and birds"?
We'll celebrate our milestone with some funny memories too (thank you Bang Babe Caitlin), and we're banging on about a coupla great books. Chopsticks or Fork by Jennifer Wong and Lin Jie Kong, and Miranda July's new novel All Fours.
Thank you to every one of you who listened to this or any of the 299 other episodes we've shared. We wouldn't be here without your support, and your emails, DM's, and crop dusting of "bang fam" fills our hearts and our cups. We're very lucky to have been able to make it to #300 with such a beautiful community. Thank you. x

We’re living in the era of the music documentary. From the big screen to streaming to social media, films about our favourite artists are everywhere. But where to start? Well, Myf and Zan have done God’s work and watched a bunch of them.
Inspired by the great lineup of music docos on the Melbourne International Film Festival program, this week Myf and Zan are talking about some of their faves.
There’s new films about electro punk pioneer Peaches and cult Irish hip-hop act Kneecap; films that chart the rise and fall of icons like ABBA and Whitney Houston; and there’s those goosebump-inducing moments on film that capture transcendent performers at their peak.

Spoiler alert! This week, it’s all about woman of the moment Celine Dion and the new documentary that’s given us all a new appreciation of the superstar singer.
I Am: Celine Dion follows Celine as she deals with the aftermath of her diagnosis with stiff person syndrome. It’s a confronting look at the harrowing physical toll the illness has taken on her health and her voice.
We learn about her upbringing as one of 14 children, go behind the scenes into her warehouse of extraordinary farshun, and get a peek into her everyday life - from the most orderly sock drawer you’ll ever see to her kids’ bonkers gaming room.
And of course Myf and Zan have LOTS of thoughts: about celebrity, health, ageing, perfection and an an old-school entertainer who’s given an extraordinary window into her life.

It's been a very EXTRA week, and so we're going early cos frankly we're busting to unpack it all.
The Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony is camp AF and we're here for Blue Man Group Dionysis, Renaissance horsewoman, a ménage a trois nod, and death metal beheadings of Marie Antoinette. Obvs we're on the floor watching Celine's return. Wow.
CD's are having a renaissance of their own, thanks mainly to T Swift, but a sweet editorial has us reminiscing about the beloved compact disc and the memories they hold. And on the anniversary of Sinead O'Connor's death, a wax figure has been unveiled in Dublin. It's not good.
Bang Fam have been DM'ing us the Alexander McQueen hoof boots left right and centre too, and trotting down the runway with this hairy FARSHUN. And we're banging on about the Von Dutch doco and Nick Cave & Sean O'Hagan's beautiful book of conversations.
