Amplifying the voices of Muslim women - Winner of The Grassroots Production of the Year Award #AudibleAPA2019 2020 British Podcast Awards Nominee - Best Sex & Relationships Podcast
Asalamualaikum and welcome to the Amaliah Surah Kahf playlist. Here you will find a series of recitations by Muslim women from around the world in an attempt to document, archive and celebrate the legacy of Muslim women reciting. We also hope this playlist encourages you to read and recite Surah Kahf on Fridays as the Prophet Muhammad (saw) said that “Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday will have a light between this Friday and the next”
The Quran has 7 different dialectical styles, and this series reflects some of them.
Our second reciter is Farah Elbakkali from Morocco. Farah has participated in many national and international Qur’ran competitions, including the Mohammed VI competition for the Memorisation and Recitation of the Holy Qur’an where she was awarded first place. You may notice that Farah’s recitation style is different to the last recitation we featured in the playlist. This is because Farah is reciting in the Warsh style, a method of recitation which is more common to countries in North Africa.
Thank you to all of those who submitted to our open call and to Ustada Rumaysa for her guidance during this project. To keep up to date with our work at Amaliah, you can find us on amaliah.com, @amaliah_com on Instagram and @amaliah_tweets on Twitter.

Our first reciter is A'tii Qah Suhaimi from Singapore. A’tii Qah’s recitation started when she was just 7 years old. Since, she has participated in various local and international Quran recitation competitions. A'tii Qah's days are filled up with teaching Islamic arts, she is currently a full-time calligrapher at The Bustan Khat and a Quranic recitation teacher at iTarannum, Singapore.
