    481. Haste The Day

Join Dave, Scott and Stephen and I as we catch up with the latest going ons in the Haste The Day world. We talk about the bands latest single, Burn, and resigning with Solid State, and how all of that came to be as well as what the guys are looking for at this stage in their careers.

We get a bit heavy and talk about the ending of the band and subsequent reformations over the years. What it was like to deal with the back and forth nature of having the band be in and out of their lives. The guys open up about the struggles of being labeled a "Christian band" and the hardships they faced having to live up to others perceptions of who and what they were supposed to be.

We look back on "Attack of the Wolf King", hear some funny memories recording "Meet Me Half Way" and how it was dealing with that record not performing well then versus how the perception of that record has changed in the decade since its release.

    480. Danny Lilker (Anthrax / Stromtroopers of Death / Nuclear Assault / Brutal Truth)

Join Danny, Dave and I as we discuss the second edition of their book, "Perpetual Conversion" which tells Danny's career in the heavy/extreme sides of the music industry.

We discuss Danny's time in bands more rooted in thrash like Anthrax and Stormtroopers of Death, through his sonic journey of pushing boundaries in faster, more "extreme", bands like Nuclear Assault and Brutal Truth and how this book really puts you at the forefront of these burgeoning scenes in metal through the lens of Danny's stories and Dave tracking down fellow artists playing alongside or inspired by these bands to offer a first hand account of the impact this music was having on the music world.

We also talk about the process of writing this book and how the experience was for each of them. For Dave how it allowed him to fill in some of the gaps of a scene he wasn't as versed with, and how he went about putting everything together. For Danny how it was to look back on this decades long career making music, and seeing all the lives he's touched with his music and the nice things friends and colleagues had to say about him.

We talk about getting older and some truths we've found along the way and more in this quick chat with Danny and Dave.

    479. Victor Kass (LLNN)

This is a bit of a different episode for me. This was born from a friend showing me LLNN's album, "Unmaker", and becoming OBSESSED with it.

Initially this was an album I was getting into heavy going back to the gym, but couldn't shake the hold it had over me and the feelings it would evoke out of me. Feelings of anger and despair and hopelessness.

What I didn't anticipate was my foot injury that led to having surgery and being laid up a few months later, and in the darkness of sitting in my bed late at night I'd listen to this album more and I eventually came to this realization that sometimes we need to wallow in something to really help us process our emotions and work our way out of these negative feelings.

This is my chat with the bands new vocalist/guitarist Victor, where we dive into some of these emotions that the bands music brings out. We get into how Victor joined the band, how it was for him to find his way into music that he didn't necessarily have a hand in creating but understanding its impact.

Victor also shares what it was like growing up in Denmark and how he first got into playing music, some of his early influences as well as talking about the small scene that he and others were building.

We talk about what's in store for LLNN in the new year, touring stateside and more.

    478. Sicksense

Join Robby and Vicky and I as we get into the end of Vicky's last band and the journey she went on as that wrapped up, and how that lead into her joining/starting Sicksense with Robby.

We also get into the resurgence that nu metal has been having in recent years, and how that has been for Robby given his past fronting Stuck Mojo, and reflecting on the quick rise of the genre, and then the hate it received for so long. We talk about the importance of being true to yourself and not chasing trends.

We also talk a bit about how Robby and Vicky have taken what they've learned from their other bands and time in the industry and how they are using that to make more informed decisions with what the band is trying to accomplish in the future.

All this and more in this chat with the Sicksense vocalists.

Join Mike and I as we talk about the bands latest album, "Sundiver", and how this became a sort of companion piece to 2022's "Datura".

We get into a weird correlation I had with the Datura plant form a video game in the 90's. Mike and I get a little deeper with how we tend to be oblivious to things until we learn about them and then it's all you notice.

Mike opens up about the evolution of Boston Manon, not only as a band but as people, and how that has allowed them to really push their songwriting to new levels. We also dive into exploring the growth of us a people, out growing various relationships and how that impacts us in various ways and so much more in this chat with the Boston Manor guitarist.

Join Brandon and I as we discuss the bands latest release, The Pronoia Sessions, and how the band went about choosing songs from their catalog to deconstruct and reimagine, and what that process was like especially with some of the older material. We also look back on 20 years of "The Curse", if the guys knew it was as special as it would turn out to be for them, and the legacy of it 2 decades later, including looking back on specific tours around this time that really helped catapult the band to another level. Brandon also shares how moving from CA to TN has been. If there were any parallels in doing new things within Atreyu and if that helped inform this move at all as well as sharing that he has written his first kids book, Punk Rock Zoo, and how that came about. Join Haley and I as we discuss the bands sudden emergence on the scene, which in the day and age of the internet how it's kinda wild to find a band that's got as much buzz about them, but hardly any online presence, and to truly be at the beginning of a band's career.

We also get into me asking a lot of questions about Hayley's career being a Spacewalk Engineer for NASA, how it's been navigating what I imagined to be a very intensive and time consuming career while also balancing everything that Gore has going on as well.

We touch on what fans can expect from the band in the nearish future, touring and more in this chat with the Gore vocalist.
