Hosted by Scroobius Pip, with new episodes every Wednesday.
Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the excellent actor and long overdue guest ANDREW ELLIS!
Long overdue in many ways, but directly as Pip gradually ticks off the cast of the This Is England on his database... Also of course, as mentioned in this episode, with Stephen Graham being the spiritual godfather of this podcast, it all makes infinite sense. Andrew has been putting in the work over the years and has kind of grown up on both sides of the camera, with a perfect loop of life feeding the art and art feeding life in a balance that has taken a while to achieve. So it's great to hear things are in a nice spot, as well hearing about the past dalliances with podcasting (Overrated Everything), parent life, the said importance of living a life off screen, and his many roles stemming from Gadget in This Is England. He has a bunch of work in the pipeline, including 'The Walk-In' (mentioned in the episode - in case you heard it as "the walking"!), so keep an eye open for all those - but in the meantime, enjoy the present, as Andrew joins in the fun. Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the wonderful writer, podcaster, artist and filmmaker POPPY HILLSTEAD!
Poppy's been in the game for a minute and you will very likely know and appreciate her fine work in the podcasting realm (including Gossipmongers, Has Entered The Chat and presently Brainwash Me, but she's been putting in a ton of work over the years in all aspects of the media. We catch up with Poppy hot on the heels of a returning pet cat, and go straight into the very strange world of the chatroom areas of the internet and how they almost instantly elevate to sex talk, her many varied podcasts, finding comedy through early animation work, the adoption of a brainscanner for the new podcast, sections of society that are either chill or just weird, and bringing out and/or celebrating the gross. Fun and crazy at all times, and when dealing with the underworld of the internet, just to let you know, expect to hear some extreme bits and pieces here and there (nothing purely miserable, just, ya know, be cautious if you're sensitive!). Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the hilarious comic and podcaster JOEY PAGE!
It's a genuine pleasure to listen to Joey recount not only his past journey but present path and explorations, and it sounds like it has been a very eventful road. A huge and wide ranging chat with Pip including his tour support time, show friend Nick Helm, rebranding his own style and how he did it, the trilby hat days, long hair, road awareness and driving, Got A Problem Mate with Bilal Zafar, Pizza Hut employee status, working class folks and inheriting a work ethic, divorce and transition, writing every day and Coach Trip! I mean where do you start... So much to fit in, enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by JANE POWELL, chief executive of STAMMA!
You could file this episode under "people you might not know but will be glad you now do" - it's one of those awesome episodes where Pip chats to someone who tends to steer clear of the spotlight, like many of us, but has a huge amount to share when probed just a little bit (also like many of us!). Jane launched and ran the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) who you will be familiar with if you're a long term listener of the podcast, and has come through a huge amount of awesome activism work on her journey. Working with STAMMA has proved to be a great chance to continue along similar lines, in smoothing out some of the rough edges of the world for those who stammer. For those who don't, these rough edges might never appear, but with just a slight nudge in the direction of empathy, a lot of the potential obstacles out there rapidly reveal themselves. Jane explains all this, and a huge amount more, so enjoy this absorbing and very interesting chat with Pip and Jane!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by two extra special guests - the awesome actor/director ALICE LOWE and fabulous actor NICK FROST!
A bit of a formal way of introducing these two wonderful people but they really are two absolute treasures of cinematic and televisual goodness. Alice has been delivering incredible work after incredible work on the big and small screen for years now, and her new film 'Timestalker' is out and about and ready for your attention - you will know Alice from all sorts, including Garth Merenghi's Dark Place, Prevenge and Sightseers among others. She's joined by pal and co-star of Timestalker Nick Frost in this chat, who you also know from years of excellent output including Spaced, Shaun of The Dead and Hot Fuzz to name a few. This is a bubbly, friendly conversation which goes into all sorts, a ton about process and how the whole thing works on and off screen, and all sorts of valuable nuggets of all types. Such a fun one, you'll love it. Peep all links below for much more but for now, enjoy this 5 star episode.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the excellent actor, style icon and show friend HARRY LAWTEY!
We can safely say that the 'show friend' addition is a two way street too, as Harry was listening back in his drama school days! So it's a real treat that Pip gets to chat to Harry, and probably a weird moment for Harry too being a long-term listener...! It's a superb converstion, as they get into so much about acting and process, all things in front of and behind the curtain, but also there's so much to be gained from hearing Harry's perspective on things here. Seriously, if you take notes from all the acting homies that have been on the show you'll be in a massively good place to take up the craft yourself... Or at least soak up some free game! You can find Harry on the HBO series 'Industry', in the new Joker movie (which of course gets covered gloriously in part 2 of this chat!), and so many more - peep the IMDB for the runthrough. And otherwise - enjoy this brilliant chat with the Distraction Pieces pal Harry!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by long term Pip and show friend, the amazing poet and author HOLLIE McNISH!
It's not Hollie's first go-round here on Distraction Pieces, but the sightings are definitely many years apart so this is a welcome return. Hollie's an incredible writer and performer and insanely worth checking out if you're not yet accustomed. Check the links below (as this is a chat episode and not a performance of course!), but aside from that, just enjoy the goodies on offer here in a really cool episode that covers so many topics and moods... The art of touring and engaging in 'mum talk', food destination disappointment, booking tours like an actual living and breathing human, the wonder of how people and the animal world operate and work with one another, social media and the ups and downs (along with some very valid arguments for, which are not always heard), and sharing poems through visual media and not always through books. Fascinating and interesting and all things in between, enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the comedian's comedian and Comedian's Comedian maker STUART GOLDSMITH!
One of the hardest working comedian podcasters in the country joins Pip to lock forces and really go in on all things across the spectrum of comedy and way beyond... You'll likely know Stuart from his podcast 'ComComPod' as it's colloquially known, or to use its Government name, The Comedian's Comedian Podcast, where he talks to comedians and using his innate people skills, sparks some very open and vulnerable conversations. It's no surprise that his current special handles a similar thing but with climate emergency at its core - and how do you find the funny in that? We'll find out together. Elsewhere you'll hear loads more of course, including the legendary Big Jeff, ikigai, authenticity, showing up, accepting a podcast's purpose, preaching to the converted, and a little bit of our good pal Brett. All in all though you're in for a genuine treat. So enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined, once more, by the brilliant and very funny comic, podcaster and host JAMALI MADDIX!
* AUDIO ODDITY IN PIP'S CHANNEL FROM AROUND 4m - 6m30s! It comes and goes but won't trouble you too much...
A glorious return mission for the homie Jamali, as he and Pip link up for another awesome go-round. Jamali is always fantastic whatever you see or him on, and here is a really cool catch up with a bunch of what has happened lately as well as what is to come. The focus for the most part though is the new series he's been making called 'Follow The Leader' - you'll surely have caught his previous series 'Hate Thy Neighbour', and this is not like a follow on from that or anything but if you know Jamali's steez by now you'll definitely get along famously with this. Your topics to enjoy this episode include a crazy Rotterdam adventure gone wrong, shady promoters (see Tribe Called Quest's rule 4080), the new series and the mental conflicts to go through with the content, meeting the main people of each episode in real life, the Louis Theroux machine, and how his heart is comedy. Oh it's a goody this one.
Jamali Maddix: Follow The Leader airs on U&Dave at 10pm each Tuesday from 17th September, with the box-set available to stream free on U from Tuesday 17th September.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined, once more, by the always fabulous and funny comic, podcaster, author, host and producer, FRANKIE BOYLE!
Frankie's name has carried through the decades of comedy, and even a moment of listening to him in conversation reveals a really cool, calm and observant side of him. He's always been a great time on the podcast with a ton of really interesting viewpoints and perspectives, and it's a really nice time to hear him in a different mode that's not necessarily standup or host mode. As we hear, this can be a response to the context of the recording, but Frankie is adept at all sides - standup, hosting, podcasting, and as we hear here - authoring books! So you'll enjoy this ace chat which goes into the whole lot - the book, the temporary mind-fence of recording, hotel time, Palestine views, the media in general, Frank Quitely, and so much more. A lovely one. ENJOY!
