Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
Pip, Chris and Stu assemble in the regular formation for that very special time of year we all know and love, it's DRUNKAST TIME! PART 3!
We find the gang in their element, high off of adventure and fire and smoke (all will be revealed), and ready for the regularly scheduled mayhem and delirium! It's the time when these three good friends in life and podcasting get together in a safe environment with a wealth of booze (responsibly consumed - this isn't a race to the bottom), and as is always pointed out in these writeups, you can expect a loosening of filters and lowering of those occasional conversation drawbridges. By that, I mean that these three good people will here and there say things that you might not usually encounter in the usual Distraction Pieces space, so tread carefully. Essentially, if you're dipping your toe in with these episodes, your toe might well get chomped, so a suggestion would be to approach with one of the usual guest-led episodes!
Things get messier as the episodes progress, but if you're an OG DPP / Hardcore Listing head, you'll enjoy the ride for sure. ENJOY THE MERRIMENT AND APPROACH WITH MAYBE JUST A SPRINKLE OF CAUTION!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the hilarious writer, podcaster and original Twitter treasure RUTH HUSKO!
A really great episode featuring someone who has been doing some fabulous work for such a long time, but may not necessarily be known to all y'all yet. Hopefully the opposite is true - but if not, trust us, this is a brilliant one with so much DPP goodness. Ruth's been winning first place on Twitter (X if you must but, of course, present ownership noted) for a long time, and of course that gets decent coverage right here, but also hear about such things as Norm Macdonald, Stewart Lee, Chris Morris, Richard Herring, working a regular job (one of which being HMV like Yung Pip here), Limmy, social media and where it lacks (but also succeeds), exes and all that, corporations and patter theft (you'll understand what that is quickly if you're unfamiliar!). Excellent stuff and true Distraction Pieces gold for you all. Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the great and glorious comic and writer ALEX EDELMAN!
A perfect episode to shed some light and positivity on a lot of what's happened in the US over the past month and much further back too, in case you need it. But also just to let you know in case you're studiously avoiding such topics - this isn't a self pitying doom and gloom-fest by any means so fear not. Alex is very well versed in this stuff so you're in safe hands, and also it's not ALL about that! So again - fear not. It turns out Alex is a missing piece of the DPP puzzle and a very welcome addition to the guest list, and you'll hear about all the aspects that are relevant to his world including time in Boston, success at Edinburgh Fringe in 2014 which opened a whole new path, UK comedy, having many pals over here in the same comedic universe, divisions and how to meet them and bridge the gaps, approaching the world with its wide range of problems, and pastries. In a more simple life, pastries might just be the answer.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by author, journalist and producer DANNY WALLACE!
Hard to pin down what professions you'd attribute to Danny but that's a start anyway... Danny joined Pip back in 2015 for episode 30 which seems unfathomable but it's true. So of course, in 9 years, obviously stuff's basically the same and there's weirdly nothing to talk about. OF COURSE I'm being silly. It could have gone on for about the duration of Danny's audiobook, but a line must be drawn somewhere. His book 'Somebody Told Me' explores the world of the conspiracy theory, detailing the many elements contained in this wide world, and he and Pip have much to say on the subject. It's a fascinating episode with not all doom and gloom, so fear not - you won't leave sad. If this is an area that intrigues you though, it's essential listening and a timely reminder to keep your wits about you as you navigate this world, especially in the realms of social media. What is interesting too is how this stuff has always been happening - but certain factors of modern life can amplify it, including isolation. Take some notes when you listen - and remember not only to tell people what you heard by saying "I heard on this podcast that...", but to end each sentence with an enigmatic "You'll see...". You'll see. Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by multi-faceted diamond actor/comic/rapper/host BEN BAILEY SMITH aka DOC BROWN!
A lovely episode and first return journey since episode 161 in 2017! Ben's always a welcome guest, and it's a heartening meet-up with two folks here in positions not so dissimilar to one another. Ben has had a good amount of years in the rap game, which he's returning to presently to fabulous reception, and also has heavy previous in the acting world - interestingly both he and Pip have been parts of the Star Wars universe too, so there's that! A really nice ep, with some takes on hip hop history, recognition and memory, Star Wars geekouts, post-blow-up career pivots, returning to rap with producer Tony Bones, sorting out your stage sound as a rapper (ring out your mic!), and how Pip had a direct inspiration on something Ben did later. Good times and always lovely to hear about what's cracking in Ben's lane. Lovely stuff. Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the excellent actor and long overdue guest ANDREW ELLIS!
Long overdue in many ways, but directly as Pip gradually ticks off the cast of the This Is England on his database... Also of course, as mentioned in this episode, with Stephen Graham being the spiritual godfather of this podcast, it all makes infinite sense. Andrew has been putting in the work over the years and has kind of grown up on both sides of the camera, with a perfect loop of life feeding the art and art feeding life in a balance that has taken a while to achieve. So it's great to hear things are in a nice spot, as well hearing about the past dalliances with podcasting (Overrated Everything), parent life, the said importance of living a life off screen, and his many roles stemming from Gadget in This Is England. He has a bunch of work in the pipeline, including 'The Walk-In' (mentioned in the episode - in case you heard it as "the walking"!), so keep an eye open for all those - but in the meantime, enjoy the present, as Andrew joins in the fun. Enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by the wonderful writer, podcaster, artist and filmmaker POPPY HILLSTEAD!
Poppy's been in the game for a minute and you will very likely know and appreciate her fine work in the podcasting realm (including Gossipmongers, Has Entered The Chat and presently Brainwash Me, but she's been putting in a ton of work over the years in all aspects of the media. We catch up with Poppy hot on the heels of a returning pet cat, and go straight into the very strange world of the chatroom areas of the internet and how they almost instantly elevate to sex talk, her many varied podcasts, finding comedy through early animation work, the adoption of a brainscanner for the new podcast, sections of society that are either chill or just weird, and bringing out and/or celebrating the gross. Fun and crazy at all times, and when dealing with the underworld of the internet, just to let you know, expect to hear some extreme bits and pieces here and there (nothing purely miserable, just, ya know, be cautious if you're sensitive!). Enjoy!

This week Pip is joined by the hilarious comic and podcaster JOEY PAGE!
It's a genuine pleasure to listen to Joey recount not only his past journey but present path and explorations, and it sounds like it has been a very eventful road. A huge and wide ranging chat with Pip including his tour support time, show friend Nick Helm, rebranding his own style and how he did it, the trilby hat days, long hair, road awareness and driving, Got A Problem Mate with Bilal Zafar, Pizza Hut employee status, working class folks and inheriting a work ethic, divorce and transition, writing every day and Coach Trip! I mean where do you start... So much to fit in, enjoy!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!
This week Pip is joined by JANE POWELL, chief executive of STAMMA!
You could file this episode under "people you might not know but will be glad you now do" - it's one of those awesome episodes where Pip chats to someone who tends to steer clear of the spotlight, like many of us, but has a huge amount to share when probed just a little bit (also like many of us!). Jane launched and ran the charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) who you will be familiar with if you're a long term listener of the podcast, and has come through a huge amount of awesome activism work on her journey. Working with STAMMA has proved to be a great chance to continue along similar lines, in smoothing out some of the rough edges of the world for those who stammer. For those who don't, these rough edges might never appear, but with just a slight nudge in the direction of empathy, a lot of the potential obstacles out there rapidly reveal themselves. Jane explains all this, and a huge amount more, so enjoy this absorbing and very interesting chat with Pip and Jane!
