Watling Street is a 4-part psychogeographical podcast, uncovering little-known corners of Britain’s history and culture by travelling along this prehistoric road, one of the first lines on our map. It is presented by authors David Bramwell and John Higgs and features talks, poetry, music performances and conversations with such guests as Iain Sinclair, Alan Moore, Salena Godden and Miranda Kane.     Episode Four: Here be dragons

    In our final leg of the journey John and I head to Wales, from Oswestry through Snowdonia to a carpark in Anglesey. We talk stories and national identity with Cerys Mathews, explore the symbol of the dragon, discuss the film Penda’s Fen, hear a tale from storyteller Eric Maddern and finish with a specially commissioned poem from Salena Godden and remix from Greg Wilson and Peza.

    David and John travel to Northampton to meet author Alan Moore and are surprised to discover his role in the building of Milton Keynes. David is even more surprised to discover the newtown was built as a sun temple and watches the midsummer sunrise there with John before Watling Street’s author takes him on a fascinating trip round Bletchley Park.
