    About Kermet Apio

    Kermet Apio was born and raised in Hawaii and has lived in Seattle since attending the University of Washington in 1985. He has performed in 47 states, 7 Canadian provinces, as well as Hong Kong, Israel, and New Zealand. He has appeared on television shows such as "Star Search", "Evening at the Improv" and "Comedy Showcase with Louie Anderson." He has also been heard on national radio shows like the "Bob and Tom Show" and "Rewind" on NPR, and can be heard regularly on Sirius/XM satellite radio. He is a past winner of both the Seattle Comedy Competition and the Great American Comedy Festival, a national competition held in Johnny Carson’s home town of Norfolk, Nebraska. He has showcased at comedy festivals in Aspen, Vancouver, Grand Rapids and Las Vegas.

    Following a successful career in television as a producer and presenter, I pursued my life goal of becoming a coach which afforded me the opportunity to work in the UK but additionally, overseas in China as well. My life work encompasses speaking, writing, podcasting and supporting students and adults in schools around the themes of confidence, motivation, literacy and life skills.  Having experienced first-hand what it is like to feel stuck and lost – and having dramatically altered my life. I use the same strategies which have been a game changer for me thus, catapulting in me into becoming a higher, truer version of myself and more importantly liking the person who I’ve become.     Part Two: Meet Your Senator - Lew Fredrick

    Part 2 of my interview with Oregon State Senator Lew Frederick first took office on October 30, 2009 during a swearing-in ceremony in the House Chambers of the Oregon Capitol Building. Professionally he is a Strategic Communications Consultant, focusing on Strategic Planning, Community Relations, Science/Technical issues and Media Crisis Communications. He is a former board member of the Oregon State Board of Education, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. Born in Pullman, WA, he has only Alaska to visit to reach all 50 states. He grew up in the South, Midwest and New England and went to college in Indiana (Earlham College). He’s a PhD candidate at Portland State University and has studied at MIT, Morehouse, and the Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratories. His experiences as a youth in the 19602, with his parents, in actions in support of the Civil Rights Movement, anchor his commitment to service and making people's lives better. His Legislative focus is on justice in public safety, education, and economic security, "quality of life" issues for House District 43 and beyond.
