      2. Histrionic personality disorder (HPD) is a mental health condition marked by intense, unstable emotions and a distorted self-image. The word “histrionic” means “dramatic or theatrical.”
      1. “5 Signs You Might Be a Drama Queen” by Claire Jack Ph.D.
      2. Cleveland Clinic
      3. Histrionic Personality Disorder (HPD)
For people with histrionic personality disorder, their self-esteem depends on the approval of others and doesn’t come from a true feeling of self-worth. They have an overwhelming desire to be noticed and often behave dramatically or inappropriately to get attention.People with histrionic personality disorder often don’t realize their behavior and way of thinking may be problematic.
    1. A pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by 5 or more of the following (Diagnosis Criteria):
      1. Is uncomfortable in situations in which he or she is not the center of attention
      2.  Interaction with others is often characterized by inappropriate sexually seductive or provocative behavior
      3.  Displays rapidly shifting and shallow expression of emotions
      4. Consistently uses physical appearance to draw attention to self
      5. Has a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail
      6. Shows self-dramatization, theatricality, and exaggerated expression of emotion
      7.  Is suggestible (i.e. - easily influenced by others or circumstances)
      8.  Considers relationships to be more intimate than they actually are
    2. What are the signs and symptoms of histrionic personality disorder?
      1. Personality disorders, including histrionic personality disorder, are among the least understood mental health conditions.
      2. Studies that have been done about histrionic and other personality disorders have identified several factors that may lead to the development of histrionic or other personality disorders:
      3. Genetics: Histrionic personality disorder tends to run in families, so scientists think there may be a genetic (inherited) link.
      4. Childhood trauma: Children may cope with trauma, such as child abuse or the death of a family member, that later as an adult may be disruptive or problematic in their life and become part of a personality disorder.
      5. Parenting styles: Children who experience parenting styles that lack boundaries, are over-indulgent or inconsistent may be more likely to develop histrionic personality disorder. In addition, parents who display dramatic, erratic, volatile or inappropriate sexual behavior put their children at risk for developing this condition. Some researchers think that problems in parent-child relationships lead to the characteristic low self-esteem in people with HPD.
    3. How is histrionic personality disorder diagnosed?
      1. Past history.
      2. Relationships
      3. Previous work history.
      4. Reality testing.
      5. Impulse control.
      1. Personality continues to evolve throughout child and adolescent development. Because of this, healthcare providers don’t typically diagnose someone with histrionic personality disorder until after the age of 18.
      2. Personality disorders, including histrionic personality disorder, can be difficult to diagnose since most people with a personality disorder don’t think there’s a problem with their behavior or way of thinking.
      3. When they do seek help, it’s often due to conditions such as anxiety or depression due to the problems created by their personality disorder, such as divorce or lost relationships, and not the disorder itself.
      4. When a mental health professional, such as a psychologist or psychiatrist, suspects someone might have histrionic personality disorder, they often ask broad, general questions that won’t create a defensive response or hostile environment. They ask questions that will shed light on:
      5. Because a person suspected of having histrionic personality disorder may lack awareness of their behaviors, mental health professionals might ask to collect information from the person’s family and friends.
      6. Mental health providers base a diagnosis of histrionic personality disorder on the criteria for the condition in the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.

    2. “From a message: How can you call someone with a mental illness a predator?”
      1. Answer: Thank you for the question, especially an easy one when someone isn’t emotionally attached to the topic. First, because all predators have some degree of mental illness or they wouldn’t prey on people. Second, People with BPD tend to use the diagnosis as an excuse for their behavior. It is an explanation NOT an excuse.

      1. Human furniture refers to a practice within the BDSM community where a person acts as an object or piece of furniture for another individual's use or pleasure. This practice involves a consensual and negotiated power exchange dynamic where one person willingly takes on the role of being used as an object or piece of furniture by another person or group. The person might be positioned or manipulated to resemble furniture, such as becoming a footstool, table, chair, or any other household item. The submissive might be required to hold a specific pose or position for a certain period, providing physical support or serving as a surface for the dominant person's comfort or convenience.
      1. Participation in human furniture kink, like many other activities within BDSM or fetish communities, can be motivated by a variety of psychological factors and individual desires. Here are a few potential reasons:
        1. Power Dynamics: For some, assuming the role of human furniture can be a way to explore power dynamics. Both the person taking on the role of furniture and the person using them may find pleasure in the exchange of power and control.
        2. Sensory Stimulation: Engaging in this kink might provide intense sensory experiences. For some individuals, being in a static position or role could create physical sensations or mental states that are stimulating or arousing.
        3. Role-Playing and Fantasy: Like many BDSM activities, human furniture play can involve role-playing and fulfilling specific fantasies. It could be a form of escapism or a way to explore desires that are not easily expressed in everyday life.
        4. Exploration and Experimentation: Engaging in unconventional or taboo activities like this can be a way for some to explore their own boundaries, desires, and limits within a safe and consensual context.
        5. Connection and Intimacy: It might also serve as a means of connection and intimacy between partners. Trust and communication are crucial in these scenarios, and the level of intimacy can deepen as participants engage in a vulnerable yet controlled environment.
      2. Crafting a human furniture scene: Like all scenes, there are eight basic steps to follow to help mitigate risks and increase rewards. A few of the most important things to remember are to communicate thoroughly, go slow, and don’t expect yourself or someone else to be a table for hours on end at the start. Like kneeling, impact play, bondage, and most other types of play, a person needs to build stamina through practice.
        1. Communication and Consent: Start by discussing interests, desires, and limits with your partner(s). Clearly express what you're comfortable with and what you're interested in exploring. This includes the roles, positions, intensity of the play, medical conditions, medications, and psychological issues and needs.
        2. Establish Safe Words and Signals: Agree upon a safe word or signal that anyone involved can use to pause or stop the role play if they feel uncomfortable or need a break. Safety and consent are paramount.
        3. Define Roles and Scenarios: Decide who will take on the role of the human furniture and who will be the user. Discuss the specifics of the scene, including the type of furniture the submissive person will portray and the expectations regarding behavior and interaction.
        4. Set Up a Safe Space: Choose a safe and comfortable space for the role play. Ensure the area is free of potential hazards, and have any necessary equipment or padding to ensure the comfort and safety of the human furniture.
        5. Agree on Boundaries and Limits: Clearly establish boundaries and limits for the scene. Discuss what is acceptable and what is not, and ensure everyone involved understands and respects these boundaries.
        6. Consent to Physical Contact: Define the level of physical contact allowed during the role play. Some scenarios may involve touch or manipulation to position the human furniture, so make sure everyone consents to and is comfortable with the agreed-upon physical contact.
        7. Engage in the Role Play: Once everything is discussed and agreed upon, start the role play. Maintain open communication throughout the scene and regularly check in with each other to ensure everyone is comfortable and enjoying themselves.
        8. Aftercare: After the role play, engage in aftercare. This involves providing emotional support, reassurance, and comfort to each other. It's a crucial part of the experience, allowing participants to decompress and reconnect after intense or vulnerable moments.
      3. It's important to note that the motivations behind participating in human furniture kink, or any other BDSM-related activity, vary widely among individuals. Each person's preferences, desires, and reasons for engaging in such activities can differ significantly, and there is no single explanation that applies to everyone. The key aspect in these scenarios is mutual consent, communication, and respect for boundaries.

Study Reveals 68% Abuse Rate in BDSM-S05E16
    Recorded: November 5, 2023 / Published: Dec 31, 2023
    • - In this episode, we are talking about a new study performed by the makers of the KinkD BDSM app that shows 68% of women who try BDSM through online meetups are assaulted.
    • - Rules to Love By: (https://inclusionwoodworks.com)

    1. - “Study Reveals 68% Abuse Rate in BDSM-S05E16”
The research, carried out by KinkD – a dating app for BDSM and kink enthusiasts, showed that 68% of female respondents claimed to have had a non-consensual kinky experience with people they’d met online who claimed to be into BDSM.

Of more than 3,000 women who use online dating apps, more than half said they had experienced a violent or degrading act that hadn’t been agreed upon with prior consent.

As BDSM grows in popularity thanks to kinky dating apps, sex clubs and movies like Fifty Shades hitting the mainstream, knowing how to practice kink safely is more important than ever. According to Bedbible, ownership of BDSM equipment, such as ropes and whips, has increased, with 23% having used some form in 2023 compared to only 14% in 2017. So, if you’re planning to allow someone to tie you up because it turns you on, it’s vital that you feel safe.
Kink, arguably, is not something that should be practiced with a stranger as it requires a level of trust and a clear understanding of your partner’s interests, intentions and boundaries. However, the internet is a great place to connect with like-minded people who might be into the same stuff as you or have the same sexual fantasies, and that’s why kinky dating apps work so well.
"In the diverse landscape of alternative relationship dating, these statistics underscore the importance of constant evolution and vigilant safety measures,” says John Martinuk, the founder of KinkD. “Our commitment isn't just to connect individuals with shared interests but to ensure that their interactions remain consensual and secure.
"The kink community is serious about safety, but if you’re new to it, how are you supposed to know who is a safe person to hook up with and who isn’t, and whether someone is being honest about their level of experience?
If you’re looking to broaden your horizons and you’re curious about BDSM or trying new kinks or rough sex, there are several things you need to bear in mind before you dive in. This checklist isn’t just about personal responsibility, it’s about ensuring your partner knows the importance of personal respect, safety and boundaries, and the consequences of ignoring these things too.
Always have a conversation with your partner before a “scene”, especially if you’re meeting them for the first time. Discuss what you would like to happen, step by step and that any deviations from the plan that haven’t been discussed will require consent before they happen.
Agree on a safeword and agree that you’ll use the traffic light system during the session. If something traumatic is happening to you, a common response is to freeze, which makes using your words a challenge. So make sure your partner knows your hand signals too.

It’s also important to state before anything happens that you expect the other person to respect you and your boundaries, and if they don’t or if they intend to hurt you, that person will be responsible. Ask them if they’re aware of the laws around consent and if they’re happy to proceed.

68% is a shocking number and with BDSM and kink on the rise in the bedroom – and why not, it can be very fun when practiced properly – it’s up to everyone taking part to have a conversation about consent before, during and after sex.

Exploring the world of BDSM can be an exciting and fulfilling journey for individuals who are open to exploring their deepest desires. Within the realm of BDSM, there are numerous activities and practices that cater to various interests, one of which is depth play. In this article, we will delve into the concept of depth play, its purpose, and common FAQs associated with it.
    What Is Depth Play?
Depth play is a term used to describe a specific type of BDSM activity that focuses on exploring intense psychological and emotional experiences. It involves delving into the depths of one’s mind and emotions to create intense connections and sensations. Depth play can encompass a wide range of activities, such as intense role-playing scenarios, mind games, sensory deprivation, and more.
    The Purpose of Depth Play:
The primary purpose of depth play is to challenge and explore the psychological and emotional aspects of BDSM. It allows participants to push their boundaries, experience intense emotions, and develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their partners. Depth play can create a strong sense of vulnerability, trust, and connection between individuals involved.
    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

    - Is depth play only for experienced BDSM practitioners? No, depth play can be enjoyed by individuals at any level of experience. However, it is crucial to have open and honest communication with your partner(s) and establish clear boundaries before engaging in any depth play activities.
    - Is depth play safe? Like any BDSM activity, safety is paramount. It is crucial to engage in depth play with a trusted partner(s) who respects your limits and consent. Establishing a safe word and practicing aftercare are essential aspects of ensuring a safe and consensual experience.
    - Are there any risks associated with depth play? While depth play can be emotionally intense, it is essential to engage in activities that are within your emotional and psychological limits. Pushing boundaries is encouraged, but it should be done gradually and with the utmost care, ensuring the well-being of all involved parties.
    - Can depth play be done in a long-distance relationship? Yes, depth play can be adapted to long-distance relationships through various means such as virtual role-playing, intense messaging, or webcam sessions. However, it is crucial to establish clear communication channels and ensure the emotional well-being of all parties involved.
    - What are some common activities involved in depth play? Common activities may include intense role-playing scenarios, psychological mind games, sensory deprivation, humiliation play, consensual non-consent, and more. The possibilities are extensive and depend on the interests and boundaries of the participants.
    - How can one prepare for depth play? Preparation for depth play involves open communication, establishing boundaries, and discussing desires, limits, and potential triggers with your partner(s). Engaging in aftercare activities, such as emotional support and debriefing, is also crucial for a positive experience.
