Bible Study Aid -- Angels: God's Messengers and Spirit Army [ Audiobook ]

United Church of God

Angels are God’s messengers and His spirit army, and they are very numerous. Make no mistake, angels do exist! They exist to serve “those who will inherit salvation”. But because they are invisible, we tend to forget their role in carrying out God’s purpose and plan. We’ve all heard stories of supernatural intervention—some of them may even be your stories! Many angels have been given the duty of serving our needs, and their responsibilities and assignments may change with circumstances. Let’s take a look in our Bibles and examine some of the interesting and profound verses that give us insight into these servants of God. The Scriptures have much to tell us on the fascinating subject of angels! Listen to this audiobook or read other Bible study aids online at ucg.org/booklets.

  • 11 - Jesus: Not an Angel but the Angel
Of the many Old Testament references to angels of God, there are a few where One called “the Angel of the Lord” is also identified as “the Lord” (Genesis 16:10-13; Genesis 22:11-12; Exodus 3:2-6; Judges 13:3-22). But how can an angel of God be God Himself? This is evidently the same figure referred to as “the Angel of His Presence” in Isaiah 63:9, as well as the “Angel” God sent to lead the Israelites through the wilderness to the Promised Land (Exodus 14:19; Exodus 23:20).
