God’s “Superman” and His “Fortress of Solitude”?

What does the Bible say about singlehood? Was Paul God’s “Superman”? How do we enter God’s “fortress of solitude”? How do we best understand the Trinity? I can’t find a solid church to attend! Was I baptized incorrectly? Do we need to “draw near” to God?

Renew Your View: Seeing Life Through the Lens of Grace – Part 2
What if we’ve been seeing it all wrong?

Is it possible we’ve been looking at life through the wrong lens? Ephesians 4 challenges us to rethink life in light of our newness in Christ. Paul contrasts the futility of the old life with the vibrant reality of our new identity.

Forget trying to earn God’s favor through forgiveness or good deeds. Instead, recognize that our actions flow naturally from who we are in Christ. Paul’s focus isn’t on condemning sin but on encouraging a life that reflects our true nature and living in harmony with our new self.

Ready to see life through the lens of grace and experience the freedom it brings? Watch now and explore how this fresh perspective can transform your journey!

    Discussion Questions for Ephesians 4:
    1. Read verses 17-19. What key words describe the unbeliever? How is the born-again believer different in each case?
    2. Read verses 20-24. Why is it important to see these verses as a “chunk” and interpret their meaning very carefully? What do you then conclude about laying aside and putting on?
    3. Read verses 24-25. What are the two reasons not to lie to one another? How does identity relate to behavior here?
    4. Read verses 26-27. Is anger a sin? Why or why not? What kind of “opportunity” is given to the enemy when we don’t forgive?
    5. Read verse 28. Notice Paul’s concern when someone has been sinning. What is his instruction focused on? What is it *not* focused on? (Hint: Consider the horizontal and vertical analogy in the message.)
    6. Read verses 29-31. How does reading these three verses together help us better understand the true meaning of “do not grieve the Holy Spirit”?
    7. Read verse 32. How is this different from trying to earn God’s forgiveness by forgiving others first? Compare verse 32 with Matthew 6:14-15. Why are these two passages so different from each other?

“Totally forgiven? Or confess to be forgiven?”*

What’s a healthy motivation for giving? How does this differ from living under the Law in the Old Testament? Is there a required percentage today? If we are forgiven of all of our sins, then what is 1 John 1:9 about? It seems like there’s a condition to be met in that verse!

“Seek to please God? If so, how?”

Are we pleasing to God? Do we also need to seek to please Him? Can a believer take the Mark of the Beast? I’m a biker that’s rough around the edges. Sometimes I feel out of place at my church. What does God think? What does salvation mean? Is the Holy Spirit ever removed from the Earth with unbelievers unable to be saved?

“You sin more under the Ten Commandments!”

What is antinomianism? How can I respond to those who think I’m a “Law hater”? What does it mean to be filled with the Spirit? How should we respond to Deuteronomy which tells us not to enter the house of the Lord empty-handed? What about tithing? New Testament giving?

“Why am I not hearing this everywhere?”

I’m so excited about God‘s grace! Why aren’t we hearing this message in every church across the world?! Can you talk about legalistic religion (in Colossians), and the pure kind that James referred to? How can we best describe Christianity to others?

Are you ready to see life through grace-tinted glasses?

As we approach a new year, it’s time to ditch the old resolutions and embrace the newness we already have in Christ. Colossians 3 invites us to put on grace-tinted glasses, where seeking things above transforms our perspective.

Imagine living with the security of knowing your life is hidden with Christ, shaping your identity and choices. This isn’t about striving to become new but realizing you already are! Christ is your life, and everything you do can reflect this incredible truth. From putting aside anger to embracing compassion, your new self is being renewed in the knowledge of Jesus.

Watch now to explore how living from your new identity and this grace-filled perspective can revolutionize your year. It’s time to renew your view and see life through the lens of grace!

    Discussion Questions for Colossians 3:
    1. Read verses 1-2. What does it mean to “seek the things above”? How can this perspective change the way we view our lives?
    2. Read verse 3. How does the truth that “your life is hidden with Christ in God” provide security and shape your identity?
    3. Read verse 4 and react to this statement: Christ is my life. Now, what does it mean to you that you will be “revealed with Him in glory”?
    4. Read verses 5-7. How do you consider the members of your body as dead to sin? And how does this “match” the truth about you as a person?
    5. Read verses 8-9. How do your choices to put aside anger, slander, and lying reflect the reality of your new self?
    6. Read verses 10-11. What kind of renewal is happening now that you are already the new self? What does “no distinction” in this verse mean to you?
    7. Read verses 12-14. In practical terms, how do you “put on” a heart of compassion? Why is love highlighted “beyond all these things”?
    8. How does verse 13 express the opposite of what we see in the Lord’s Prayer (see Matthew 6:14-15)? Why is this the case?
