As I reach my middle years, I have more questions than answers. So I wanted to explore those questions with people that seem to have found the answers. It will be about their journey towards meaning and how they bring that to their life and business. If you are in business, there will be something here for you. Do you have a story? [email protected]
This time last year, I started the Million Dollar Experiment, a program developed by Joanna Hunter with a view to creating a million dollars in one year.
So did it happen?
I am exploring the journey on the show with Jane Duncan Rogers, an old podcast friend. As we did this year together, it seems natural to explore our discoveries together.
This was a transformative year for Jane, not just for her participation in the intriguing Million Dollar Experiment but there were some profound shifts in perspective it prompted.
In this candid conversation, Paul and Jane discuss the real measures of abundance and freedom that transcended beyond just monetary gains. It's not just about chasing the million dollars but exploring one's relationship with money, understanding personal freedom, and appreciating the richness in experiences and relationships.
Jane shares how this experiment challenged her beliefs about money and sparked a deeper spiritual journey. Her insights into gratitude and the power of mindset are both inspiring and applicable to anyone seeking personal growth.
We also touch on Jane’s new venture into writing, focusing on embracing aging and the narratives that come with it. If you're interested in a heartfelt exploration of life's richness beyond financial wealth, this episode is a must-listen.
If you would like to stay in touch with Jane, you can find her on Linkedin, facebook or check out her substack page.

Hello, my dear friend! Have you ever paused to think about the remarkable impact that appreciation can have on our lives? Like my experience this week, attending two community meetings highlighted this very point.
The first was a vision and planning meeting by a new board looking to bring a fresh opportunity. However, it became tense and confrontational as some members were more interested in tearing plans apart than building new paths for the future, driven perhaps by a fear of change.
At the second gathering, the managing team made amends for errors, acknowledging their missteps. In both cases, it was not the challenge that was the problem it was the delivery.
It made me wonder why criticising is often easier than appreciating.
Appreciation is a powerful tool. It’s that warm smile and acknowledgement that can turn tension into teamwork. In the world of public speaking, like Toastmasters, appreciation is the tool used to deliver feedback. It follows the 'commend, recommend, commend' approach – perfecting the art of giving constructive feedback while uplifting spirits.
Yet, the greatest appreciation we can offer is to ourselves. Looking in the mirror and valuing who we are is transformative. It’s a journey of self-recognition. As human beings, children or adults, we thrive on acknowledgement and respect. And when we feel valued, we rise. So, let’s take a moment, shall we? Appreciate yourself today. Share gratitude, and watch your world blossom.
Join me next time when Jane Duncan Rogers will join me in a special podcast about our journey exploring the 'My Millionaire Mindset.' Until then, spread some love and appreciation. You deserve it. Catch you soon!

Every December, I craft a family newsletter that lets us peek back at the journey we've been on throughout the year. It's more than just a factual account. It’s our story, filled with the highs, lows, and everything in between.
Thinking back, the winter solstice plays a significant role in this reflective process for me. It symbolizes the return of the light, making December the perfect time for looking back and planning our next adventures. Can you imagine tracing the lines of your own narrative, seeing the threads that connect your past with your future?
So, how about you give it a try? Even if newsletters make you yawn, taking a moment to ponder your year can be a transformative experience. What stood out for you? What were your big takeaways? And if you felt underwhelmed, what might you change moving forward?

I was listening to the Cleaning Up podcast this week, and the guest was Rory Sutherland, the Vice Chair at Ogilvy UK. I will put a link to the podcast below. The conversation was about everything I dislike about the marketing industry. It is an industry where money is more important than morals or outcomes and consequences.
It reminded me of a refreshing marketing conversation I had with Sarah Santacroce some three years back. In my opinion, all marketing must be based on integrity and the desire for what is right, not just what makes money. Sarah has been on a simular journey and devised her solution. Gentle Marketing.

A reprise from this time last year on the issues of credibility. It has been a funny few weeks. What with elections and media stuff? I mean funny and peculiar, not Ha Ha! It made me reflect on the issues of credibility in politics and media. What has changed? What is the credibility formula? It had me thinking about this recording with Mitchell Levy and his research.
So let's step back and year rediscover the secrets of credibility.
Is your credibility important? You certainly need to feel you are, but more importantly, Are you Credible? Because your potential clients need to believe it first. But how do we get there?
Our guest on the show this week is Mitchell Levy from Credibility Nation. As you will hear, we both discovered and learned much from this conversation.
Mitchell Levy has had a long and classically successful business career, from banking to internet systems. He has several publishing companies that support business leaders in writing books and has written over 60 of his own. He has spoken at TEDx events and is an executive coach at Marshall Goldsmith’s 100 Coaches—an accomplished man.
In 2019, he sought a change and followed Napoleon Hill’s steps. He set out to interview 500 executives on success and credibility. The findings from that research have changed his life.
He has discovered that how we do business has changed forever and will never go back. Credibility is key.
So join me in this conversation to explore Mittchel’s journey and discover some critical tools for your credibility.

Hey there! Have you ever paused to think about time as the one precious resource we just can't negotiate? No matter how much we talk about saving or preserving it, time keeps marching on. In this exciting shortcast, I’m Paul Harvey, your midlife coach, here to dive deep into the art and science of time management. We’ll explore what makes life tick and how you can make time your ally.
Interestingly, we often find ourselves either wasting time or managing it fiercely. My friends in the business world will tell you time management is critical for productivity. But today, I want to focus on personal time—the time that truly belongs to you. Whether it's nurturing relationships, earning a living, or maintaining your health, striking a balance among these pillars is crucial.
We'll examine how we spend our days, weeks, and even lifetimes. With 168 hours in a week, how much time is left after sleep and the necessary daily routines? How do you allocate your time for work, relationships, and health? These are pivotal questions, as ignoring any of them can lead to regret rather than fulfillment.
Join me as I reflect on my journey toward health and work-life balance and share insights on how you can achieve your goals more effectively. Whether thinking about the next year, decade, or beyond, it’s all about making the right choices on what deserves your time and effort.
If you're curious about optimizing your time or want a supportive nudge toward achieving your ambitions, check out more resources at LifePassionandBusiness.com. If you find our chat enlightening, please share it with friends, give us some love with reviews, and stay tuned for more discussions on living your best life. Are you using your energy wisely?
In this episode, we're reflecting on the impact of current events, like the recent American presidential election, and how they resonate beyond borders. It's fascinating how these events stir up a whirlwind of speculation, but let's face it, most of us don't have the power to influence the decisions made in the White House. So, why do we pour our energy into these topics? Let's chat about that!
Drawing inspiration from Stephen Covey's "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," we delve into the concept of the circle of influence versus the circle of concern. Discover how focusing on what you can control can expand your influence and lead to meaningful change. Whether through local activism or gathering like-minded individuals to advocate for a cause, there are ways to make a real impact.
We'll share a personal story about a community coming together to improve their neighbourhood's traffic situation—proof that collective action can lead to positive outcomes. If you're passionate about making changes, it's all about starting where you can truly make a difference and growing your circle of influence from there.
As always, I'm grateful for your time and attention. If you enjoyed this episode, feel free to share it with a friend! For more episodes and resources, visit life passion and business.com. Today, we're diving into a rerun from 2023 with the incredible Steve Gamlin. Steve's story is one of transformation, self-discovery, and a whole lot of laughs. Imagine having a successful 10-year radio career, only to find yourself struggling with self-image and confidence. That's where Steve found himself, and oh boy, did he turn things around!
Steve reinvented his life by managing his mindset, crafting his journey, and optimizing his daily routines to build the life he truly wanted. He's an amazing storyteller, and his journey is nothing short of inspiring. But before we dive into Steve's world, this is just a quick reminder to check out the awesome resources at Life Passion and Business. We've got over 500 interviews, short casts, and focus coaching to help you find your path.
Now, back to Steve. Growing up in the Northwest US with a beautiful childhood, Steve dreamed of being a radio DJ, a comedian, and a teacher. He hit the radio waves but found it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Despite achieving his childhood dreams, the journey was rocky, with a lot of life crashes and reinventions along the way.
Steve's story is filled with moments of humour, like the time he challenged a thunderstorm on a golf course, leading to a life-changing conversation with a life coach. That conversation sparked his journey into motivational speaking and comedy. Today, Steve hosts the Motivational Firewood podcast, helping people create positivity through visualization and humour.
His message? Success isn't about flashy cars or big houses; it's about being the best version of yourself and spreading positivity wherever you go whether it's through teaching others to visualize their goals or simply leaving a situation better than he found it, Steve's all about making a meaningful impact.

Today we're diving into something we all need a little more of in our lives—authentic pride. You know, that warm feeling when you achieve something meaningful, not just for the accolades, but for the personal satisfaction it brings. It's all about exploring what makes us tick and feel alive!
In this episode, I reflect on a recent experience marshalling at a local 10k race. Watching those runners push through their challenges, whether sprinting to the finish or walking with determination, got me thinking about why we put ourselves out there. What magic ingredient makes us feel good about ourselves, even when things get tough? It's that sense of pride—feeling proud of our efforts and achievements, big or small.
I've been reading a fascinating book by Dr. Jessica Tracy called "Pride: The Secrets of Success." It's an eye-opener on the different types of pride and how authentic pride can propel us to be our best selves. The book shares stories like that of Dean Karnazes, who rediscovered his passion for running at 30, transforming his life. It's about finding that 'thing' that makes you feel fulfilled and proud of who you are.
So, what in your life gives you that feeling of accomplishment? Whether running, solving puzzles, or simply sticking to a daily ritual, what matters is how it makes you feel. It's not about boasting or comparing; it's about personal satisfaction. And if you're unsure what that is for you, maybe it's time to explore and find out.
