Continuing with Paul’s Corinthian congregation, in his second letter he reaffirms his leadership and authority under Messiah (2 Cor 3:1). Consider that the congregates were primarily Jewish under a system that built fences around the Torah and who knew the Torah from a “letter of the law” perspective in contrast to the new teaching about the “spirit of the law”.

In this message to the Body of Messiah, Rabbi Steve Berkson breaks down some of the difficult concepts from the apostle Paul that are misunderstand and, therefore, misquoted by many to declare that the law (Torah) has been abolished.

Parsha “Acharei Mot” (Leviticus chapters 16 through 18) is typically read in the timeframe of the Passover, and the week of the ‘Feast of Unleavened Bread,’ or Chag HaMaMatzot, but seems to have more to do with a major element of the Fall Feasts – the Day of Atonement.

The Moed of First Fruits is arguably the day when the Risen Yahushua, as The First Fruit of Adam-kind Himself, made the required offering of Himself for us to Himself, in the place where He has put His Name.

“When ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the cohen:

And he shall wave the sheaf before Yahuah, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the sabbath the cohen shall wave it.

And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf an he Lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto Yahuah….

And ye shall eat neither bread, nor parched corn, nor green ears, until the selfsame day that ye have brought an offering unto your God: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.” (Leviticus 23:10-12;14)

?While Rashi disagrees, and the rabbinic tradition thus ends up with a date which does NOT always fall of the First Day of the week, I contend that (as Yahushua obviously did) the ‘morrow after the WEEKLY Sabbath’ is what the verse means. Which is today (28 April). It is also the day which therefore begins the ‘counting of the Omer’ – seven Sabbaths plus one, or 50 days.

And, perhaps dramatically, if not also ironically, THIS year the ‘sighted new moon’ that marked a “beginning of months” for us (Exodus 12:2) was observed directly by literally millions of witnesses!

This year there is quite a bit of variance between calendar understandings. Not to mention the fact that the ‘sighted’ new moon this year was a bit more spectacular than usual as well. So Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship has decided to depart from the ‘suggested’ annual Torah cycle reading schedule, and make some observations based on a confluence of events, and teachings.

By now, perhaps it should not surprise us that His Word, and His warnings, are ever-more-important.

Sometimes we can get lost in all the rabbit trails that we are chasing down. We have heated discussions on how to say the name, and what calendar to follow. We pursue all the shadow pictures we see of Yeshua in the Old Testament.  But have we gotten lost in the shadows?  Have we become disconnected to the HEAD, to the substance, to the very person of Yeshua?

This week’s theme is “Coming Home” – which applies to both Shirley and I coming back to Mississippi as well as our coming home to the presence of our Heavenly Father. This week is a High Sabbath in the Feast of the Lord calendar and we begin to count the Omer of Barley for 50 days that brings us to the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost. These 50 days are a mirror reminder of the ultimate Jubilee in which all that was lost is restored. Our Heavenly Father is constantly reminding us through these feasts of the provisions He is constantly making on our behalf. He is ever faithful and has designed for us an amazing past, present and future. Blessings.

This was another very interesting week, particularly when it came to exposing just what it looks like when “lawlessness abounds.”

But, as Mark and David discuss, just MAYBE we may see a bit of pushback, when even the Supreme Court has to realize that the charade has become just simply TOO transparent to deny. More and more commentators are lamenting the fact that ‘errors’ like a NOT-vaccine that is neither safe, nor effective, and show trials that demonstrate not only how far from the Rule of Law a once-free nation has descended, seem to have resulted in a “loss of trust” in once-respected institutions.

But, host Mark Call suggests, as strongly as possible, that not only are “institutions” like “modern medicine” and Big Pharma and the FBI, DoJ, CIA, DEA, CDC, and – well, pick three letters – NOT trustworthy, they are worthy of ‘negative trust.’ EXPECT that what they tell you is a lie.

Which leads to the theme for this week’s show, even though the message remains “come out of her.”

When we come to realize and expect that we ARE being fed lies, and that people who put their hand on a Bible and lie are not worthy of spite, much less trust, it helps to clarify where we need to focus.
