Relevant means important or urgent. Everybody lives for something. Whatever a student finds to be most is what they think is most relevant in life. The thoughts we have, the choices we make, the relationships we’re in… they’re all determined by what we live for. Many ideas compete for students’ attention and affection, but we believe that Jesus Christ is the one person who is relevant yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Relevant Student Ministry exists to help students live for what matters most, for real life. We believe real life is found ultimately only in Jesus.
We always hear that we’re supposed to read the Bible, but why? Doesn’t it take someone who has been to school for years to learn how to actually read it? Isn’t it just an old book? We have a lot of misconceptions when it comes to how to engage the Bible, but what is true? How can we begin to engage the Bible?
It seems like everyone is wanting something from us. People are always asking us for things. Teachers want us to turn in homework, parents want us to do chores, and businesses want us to buy things. People always want things from us, so naturally we begin to think God responds to us the same way. But what if God didn’t want something from us, but something for us?
