I rarely get a chance to stretch my after-hours musical muscles. I’ve probably played about 10 GUAPO PV events in Puerto Vallarta over the past 5 years but haven’t yet posted one of my sets from here in Mexico. This one, however, felt special. (full disclosure: last year’s NYE set didn’t record due to a technical glitch)… but this set is me at my best… I am very proud of it. 

I put a lot of thought into all of my sets, especially for the JUICY and DEEP parties I’ve played in PV the last two years and I’m so excited to share this 3 hr+ one with the world. It’s mostly a tech house set and the energy I got from the crowd all night was unparalleled. I saw so many wonderful friends out there all night as I looked around. 

If there was a main theme for the night’s journey, it was my trademark sound of going “a little bit old school”... l always love sharing classics with the younger generation. You’ll hear tracks (some, the originals… others, updates) like David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” and Danny Tenaglia’s “Elements” (both in my Intro), Honey Dijon’s update of Kevin Aviance’s “Cunty,” Technotronic’s “Pump Up The Jam,” Alesso’s new update on “Owner Of A Lonely Heart” by Yes, Size 9’s “I Am Ready,” my PV update that I’ve played the past few years of Sweet Pussy Pauline’s “Work This Pussy,” Butch’s “No Worries,” Submission’s “Women Beat Their Men,” Basement Jaxx’s “Fly Life,” two versions mixed of Shakedown’s “At Night,” Peter Rauhofer’s classic “Miracle Mix” of Mariah’s “We Belong Together,” (a remix I only save for very special occasions) - samples of Aretha, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Alanis Morissette, Natasha Bedingfield, Vicki Sue Robinson, Kiss - and two songs from The Beatles (I’ll let “which two” be a surprise as you listen). There are more classics sprinkled throughout, as well as 5 or 6 of my own remixes or private edits.

Another theme on this journey was “loneliness” - a feeling I battled hard in 2024, as so many of us have - and that many DJ friends struggle with. It's especially in the zeitgeist with the new Avicii documentary, "I'm Tim," that just came out on Netflix. This set is a reminder that music can always be there to carry us through and that none of us is ever truly alone.

As the sun was rising from 7:30-8am, I switched gears to deliver a little magic for everyone who stayed ‘til the end. I ended my set (well, the 2nd to last song) with a new little edit I whipped up over the past two weeks of “Defying Gravity.” (which I’m still tinkering around with)... and the crowd reaction truly was everything I’d hoped for in that morning moment.

Whoever first thought to take the sounds of gospel and add a beat underneath (I’m just gonna go ahead and credit the iconic Frankie Knuckles) must have been one of the greatest pioneers of house music of all time. Frankie once said that clubs are “like church... by the time the preacher gets going, the whole room becomes one.”

House lovers often refer to the dance floor as church. And some of the most joyous moments I’ve experienced at a club have been courtesy of gospel house. I vividly remember going to Twilo and Body & Soul in the late-’90s and hearing tracks for the first time from Sounds of Blackness, Jasper Street Co., Su Su Bobien, Vernessa Mitchell, Barbara Tucker, and Kim English that completely changed my outlook towards music.

I’ve been meaning to put together a gospel house mix for quite some time now (ever since playing a full gospel house set at the Church of Now at Burning Man in 2019), and a recent trip this holiday season to Portland to hear the Northwest Community Gospel Chorus gave me the inspiration that I finally needed.

So, rather than your typical house, tech house, or disco set, here’s 90 minutes (I could have easily made this 5 hours!) of pure praise for the lord - a dance floor journey of uplifting and soulful calls for love and redemption. There are classics here interspersed with brand-new tracks from this year, with reinterpretations sprinkled throughout. If this mix doesn’t have you shouting “Hallelujah!” by the end of it… then I don’t know how to help ya!

Spooky season is upon us, but there’s nothing scary about great house music! And if you have great taste, then lemme tell ya… this podcast is for you!

While #15 was much more tech house leaning, #16 gets back a bit more to my signature sound - more vocals, more tinges of disco, more classic homages, some hints of pop -  it’s a bit underground… and a bit mainstream - and more of an all-around higher-energy journey.

I typically would never use more than 2 remixes of a single producer in a podcast, but every once in a while there’s a moment where you witness someone taking things to the next level… and that’s exactly how I feel about the output of Sgt. Slick from Melbourne, Australia, right now. I have 3 of his productions on this podcast, because I simply couldn’t keep any of them out of this journey. They all worked here perfectly.

Fall is almost here in the U.S. and it felt like time for a new podcast! First, I am so grateful to everyone who helped me recently cross 5,000 followers on Soundcloud. It took 10 years and 181 posts, but it feels like an accomplishment I can be proud of. Originally, this podcast was over 2-1/2 hours long, so I split it up. (a second one is coming soon) This one has much more of a peak hour and tech-house vibe - it's very high energy (!!!) - the next one will be a bit more disco and classic house. I love so many of the original tracks and remixes on here with all of my heart…  and I hope I get the chance to play them out at a club soon.

As I alluded to earlier in my Part 2 notes, this final section is a wild ride! I basically was just like, "f-ck it" and threw whatever I was feeling in the moment against the wall. (especially the last 25-minutes!!)... of course, this usually makes for the best moments.

In addition to my already-posted Boatslip tea dance set, I played a 5-hour daytime set at the Crown & Anchor in Provincetown this year, which I'm sharing in three parts. This set presented an opportunity to have a lot of fun and pull out some tracks I haven't used in a while. Welcome to Part 2 of my tea dance set from the world-famous Boatslip in Provincetown over 4th of July week 2024. This is the peak half, just as the dance floor filled up and the party was in full swing. For my true house heads, the second half of this set (from Chappell Road onward) might not be your cup of tea (pun intended!)... but others will absolutely love it. It’s a classic PTown tea dance experience, with a healthy dose of throwbacks. For me - and the dance floor - it was the moment.

And yes, I did drop One Direction in this set... and it slayed.

It’s been a while since my last podcast, but I’m ready with a new one to kick off the summer. Vol. 14 is a two-hour journey that starts with nu-disco and then builds gradually to a full dance floor house music frenzy - it turns into a groove set in the middle before bringing it back around to some soulful sounds and finally ending with some more chill tech house to wrap up the journey.

There are a few new tracks from some of my favorite producers on here that I love so much and can’t wait to highlight in sets this summer, including Sam Divine’s “Saved By The Record,” Wh0’s “Sunglasses,” and Earth n Days’ “Stronger”...
