Kristin takes the reins of the show and formally introduces Steve to The Darkness. Before they get into the music Kristin talks about going to see the Darkness and big timing a member of our great listening audience. (To be fair, Kristin didn’t do it on purpose.) Also, Def Leppard has released another track off of their upcoming album, so the duo gives it a spin and discusses it briefly. Turn on the lights and you still can’t see, because The Darkness has taken over Rock Out Loud!

Kristin and Steve take a listen to some songs that sound like they’re upbeat and happy, but when you really consider the lyrics…not so much. “It’s a secret no one knows.” So let’s talk about the “glory days” but don’t join with the “runaways” just yet. Steve and Krisin watched a documentary about Woodstock ’99. This prompted them to discuss the music of 1999. Steve wasn’t happy. But they did get to play some Creed. YEAH! It was a a time of angst turned to anger, disaffected turned to disrespect, TRL ruled the afternoon airwaves, Fred Durst felt like breaking stuff, Kid Rock should have been a cowboy, and Britney was free. 1999 is center stage on this episode!

Steve and Kristin sit down and drop the digitial needle on The Sophomore outing of Matchbox Twenty – Mad Season. Before they get into the album Steve reviews the Rock Sugar album, Kristin celebrates a big boost to her vinyl collection, and celebrates even more scoring some tickets. How does Mad Season hold up 21 years after it’s release? Steve and Kristin come to some fun conclusions, and discuss the music in typical Kristin and Steve fashion. Rock On!

Steve was fortunate enough to be brought into the podcast Starkville House of El and a somewhat legendary podcasting duo was born. Kristin, Steve, and Derek talk more music from Smallville, and eventually Derek and Steve (the aforementioned Sterek…the ORIGINAL Sterek) just kind of take over and relive old bits and good times. Like two retired rockers sharing old war stories. It’s a fun time with good musical moments from a great show!
