Animal Party Episode 181 Cats, Dogs, Wolves & Cars
How to pick the right trainer for your dog; the questions to ask. Cat comedy plus an email question about how to stop a cat from paw kneading the owner at bedtime. Deborah explains why black cats & dogs make great pets. Deborah asks her listeners (97k plus per show) what type of car/ SUV is best for taking 4-8 dogs to dog parks, beaches and wild forest adventures. A vehicle that is good on gas, cleans up easily, isn’t too low to the ground for snow and rough roads and most importantly it must be easy for all dogs to enter and exit. Please send Deb your suggestions. Be alert and protect your pets from wolves and coyotes especially in Powell River, B.C. where wolves have mated with dogs to produce a wolf pack that is not afraid of coming close to houses to kill pets.

Animal Party Episode 180 Dog-Human Training Dynamics & Does Breed Matter?
Souha Ezzedeen, explains the 4th pillar of her dog training method, ‘The Way of Life’ which deals with space and boundaries and limits on a new dog no matter what the age. Deb asks Souha if there are any breeds she does not enjoy training and that sparked a breed conversation, about the border collies, pit bulls and pugs. Does breed matter? Will the Xl Bullie ban in England bring good results? Can a pug learn and remember? There certainly are many bored medicated couch-potato working dogs, but is your dog an over worked over stimulated border collie or Aus. Shep? Like a kid with too many lessons after school?

1 unspayed Mama cat x 1 intact Papa cat + 5 years =11,000 new cats born.. and that’s why it’s so important to spay and neuter cats! They can make babies at the young age of a few months and get pregnant over and over every couple of months. And further trouble comes from the Intact males, both dogs and cats who go a courting looking for mates and get into fights and car accidents or find predators or trouble.

Allan in Winnipeg calls about his newly adopted doodle age 4, who saw another dog die in a motor vehicle accident when she was very young and refuses to enter the car to this day. Deb explains 3 steps that will work to get Daisy to think of the car as fun, and eventually climb in happily. Kudos to Allan for adopting an older dog! When you adopt an older dog, the dog more than pays you back with huge gratitude every day. If you have a pet problem or question; please send your voice clip to [email protected]. Right now, Deb is looking for examples and stories about pets who demonstrate a sense of humor. If your dog or cat plays practical jokes or seems to enjoy a good laugh please tell Deb about it! Last week Deb had a run in with a bear chasing her old Mazda (the bear won) and this week while leaving a busy suburb teeming with traffic and people, a baby bear moseys on by and Deb got footage of people getting far too close!
