In each episode, Patrick Hamilton & Gena Radcliffe unpack all the gory details of horror cinema's least discussed component: the characters. And we're starting with the classic slashers, Friday the 13th & Nightmare On Elm Street! Our mission: to detail each hack, slash & decapitation in the hopes that a victim's untimely end is just the beginning of the jokes we can make about them.
"Wait... this isn't the Black Christmas episode I was promised," you're saying to yourself and yelling at passersby. Well, when you're right, you're right! Due to an otherworldly technical audio snafu, that nearly two-hour episode cannot be presented today. But we still wanted to get you, our loyal listener, something. And so we present a hilarious Patreon bonus episode we think you'll love: 1986's MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!! It's certainly something! You love Uncle Steve, we LOVE Uncle Steve - but we can all agree that Stephen King's talents lie primarily on the page, and this bombastic, AC/DC-filled smash-up is proof. Along the way, we discuss films you can smell, death by watermelon, onscreen kid murder, crediting cocaine as the director, and trying desperately - and failing - to understand the rules here!! All that, plus slanderous ATMs, high-volume screeching, too much sweat, and a diesel-powered edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! The Beam of this universe to the Dark Tower may be broken here, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun as the world goes to hell. Happy Holidays, everybody!!

It’s Friday the 13th, people!! And that could only mean one thing: an under-seen teen bully flick from Sean S. Cunningham? That’s right, we’ve hit the bottom of the barrel for Jason-related content and have now slid into Mr. Cunningham’s lesser efforts, 1985’s Army brats vs. bully flick, THE NEW KIDS! Along the way, we talk about parentless towns, multiple sleepwalking performances, a surprisingly wet microfiche scene, and one of the cinema’s least memorable “Grand Opening/Grand Closing” performances!! All this, plus a gold star teen bedroom set decoration, witness someone sexually harassing their child, consider the titular fanatic, shake with fear at a goose scare, and end with a jolting edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure! If you don’t listen to this episode, you’ll be sorry. Actually, you’ll be fine, but we’d love for you to listen anyway.

Sit down, and I’ll tell you a tale about a sad guy who gets bit by another guy, but it doesn’t make him happy - just an undead hottie drinking rat juice until the second guy bites a little girl to solve their relationship problems and… you know, I should let the 1994 Anne Rice adaption INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE fill in the details!! That’s right, we’re celebrating this monumental gothic blockbuster for its 30th anniversary with the help of writer/actor Gregory Lay (Greg in LA)!! Along the way, we explore the nearly 20 years it took to get Interview on bookshelves, through the studio system, and onto the big screen, learn what Cher would have done with the Louie role, discover why Brad Pitt called the shoot, “Six months in f#^%ing darkness, and worship at the alters of Antonio Banderas and Kirsten Dunst!! All this, plus we ask who squeezes the best rats in town, think about what makes a good eternal life partner, give Neil Jordan his props, solve some problems with fire, and sink our teeth into the immortal game of Choose Your Own Deathventure!!

We’ve heard the call, and it’s coming from inside our idyllic Bavarian Alps resort! That’s right, we’re checking in on another recent Neon release, the daffy and disturbing CUCKOO!! Don’t worry - we’ve got a non-spoiler reaction upfront before we pipe in with our in-depth reactions to the movie, including how we like to “Porky Pig-it” in the hotel lobby, the “horror” of blended families, appreciate Jazz flute control, consider Dan Stevens’ best Weird Little Guy roles, and make a few Crimson Rivers comparisons!! All this, plus we worship at the alter of Hunter Schaffer, we open up about some bad hotel stays, two good sisters, nominate terrible people we’d like to see get juiced like an orange in outer space and bring you a tuneful edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! Have you heard about the plan our Heavenly Father has for us? It’s that we all rush to the theater and enter the debate from hell with Hugh Grant as we talk bad basements, fake candle smells, and HERETIC with friend of the pod, Megan Sunday!! We have all sorts of literature and testimony to share about Patrick’s Mormon missionary past, that one Uncle we all know, patriarchal gab sessions, and the Mr. Reed and Jigsaw team-up we demand become reality!! All this, plus a heaven-sent edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure, and a lot of personal recollections and revelations about our various religious upbringings, our surprisingly emotional reactions to the film itself, and we’ve got a special message you’ve got to hear for yourself!!
CW: we are discussing our personal experiences with religion, so if that’s not something you want to hear, this may not be the episode for you.

Wanna turn that frown upside down? No? Well, we don’t either. That’s why it's such good news that we caught one of last month’s biggest horror releases to ensure a demon does it for us!! That’s right, this week we’re singing out loud about SMILE 2!! Along the way, we have a non-spoiler section for everyone before we grin and bear the rest of our in-depth coverage. We consider whether we got a Pennywise situation, then we add a Basil Exposition to the mix, and attempt to come up with some kinda name for this creature… a Smilemon? Smeemon? We’d love your help! Plus, we talk table matches, applying gentle pressure, Drew Barrymore horror, terrible managers, the Kyle Gallner Supremacy, the connective tissue between Smile and This Is Spinal Tap, worship at the alter of Naomi Scott, the Jumanji Conundrum, and deliver a very impactful edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! Remember something in these trying times: Smile Demon has your back!

Listen up, you primitive screw heads! We’re headed back in time with a Necronomicon under our arm as we talk Pit Crones, boomsticks, and Sam Raimi’s sword-and-slapstick classic, ARMY OF DARKNESS! Along the way, we talk comedy traffic school, Bruce Campbell: Handsome Idiot, more tales from the desk of Dino de Laurentis, the dire state of 2010s parody films, and genuinely terrible TikTok comments. All this, plus the Charlie Brown Had Hoes-ification of discourse, Star Trek locations, and a very skeleton-based version of Choose Your Own Deathventure!! Give us some sugar, baby and tune in today!!

How much Lot is a lot, and how much Lot equals a whole ‘lotta nothin’? That’s just one of the cursed questions we ask ourselves as we move back into town to talk about the 45th anniversary of CBS’ ’SALEM’S LOT!! And we’re not afraid to ask the big questions! Why is James Mason so nervous? Who taught David Soul’s Ben Mears to type like a caveman? How does this adaptation connect to cults and beating back inflation? Why does this TV mini-series demonstrate the cinematic vision of Tobe Hooper? How old is this middle school kid supposed to be? How many werewolf-killing canes does one store need onsite? All this, plus 70s horror charm, bad toupees, red silk boxer shopping advice, and so much more!!

If unrelenting fear is your idea of fun…
If you have a need to be terrified…
If your favorite dreams are nightmares…
Then this is the Kill By Kill episode you’ve always dreamed of…
Buy a ticket, grab your seat, and get ready to get terrified!! That’s right, we’re talking about the ultimate horror clip show - sorry. The ultimate terror film clip show for its 40th anniversary, TERROR IN THE AISLES!! And here to chat us up in our theater seats is writer, comedian, and Returning Champion Kevin Maher!! Along the way, we play the Newlywed Game, melt at the sight of Nancy Allen, pine for Death Wish 3’s The Giggler, explore Three’s Company jump scares, doubt the drug-running capabilities in Midnight Express, and point out every single weird audience-performer we can in our running time! All this, plus we marvel at Donald Pleasence’s crowd work, debate the limits of spoilers, and, of course, the main reason anyone would listen to this episode: NIGHTHAWKS!!

The Lot is many things. A small town full of secrets. A place where evil can fester. And it’s a Stephen King property that has a few swings at the bat. Well, this week on Kill By Kill, we’re the ones swinging the bat! That’s right, we hate to do it, but we’re driving a stake right through the heart of this 2022… wait, 2023… hold on… 2024 remake of ‘SALEM’S LOT - and we’re not happy about it at all. Why does this movie feel like a speed run? Why does it refuse to show more than six people at a time? Why does Barlow look like the Space Vampire from that episode of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century? Folks, we’re doing everything in our power not to be “those fans,” but this motion picture keeps dragging us back in. Remember how we raged at the 2011 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street? Well, it’s happening again. Make sure to listen til the end to hear about a couple of things we actually appreciate about the film and explain our many, many disappointments. We go in-depth with Uncle Steve’s original novel and try to parse exactly what went so terribly wrong with this new version. It’s a real journey. Don’t worry, we’re back to our chipper, fun lovin’ selves next week.
