  • How I Discovered Herbal Therapy
Today on Hempire Dr. Eileen is joined by Dr. Bill Rawls. Bill was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in my mid-forties. he developed insomnia, fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, and all the symptoms that collectively pointed toward a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. Frustrated, he tried to make sense of the situation. Development of chest pain and heartbeat irregularity suggested something more than just fibromyalgia, but a cardiac catheterization showing clean vessels and normal labs for cholesterol, thyroid, and blood chemistries just added to my frustration. None of the symptoms added up, and my medical colleagues were just as puzzled as he was. Dr. Rawls began to search outside conventional medicine. With no other solution to turn to, he steered away from conventional medicine and changed my healing methods. Bill began shifting his focus from unsuccessfully searching for a diagnosis towards health restoration. He became extremely vigilant about his diet, adopted a moderate exercise regimen that my condition allowed, practiced meditation, and learned yoga. He'd always had an interest in natural healthcare and began studying and experimenting with herbal supplements known to have restorative value. Thankfully, these experiments started to work; his health began to gradually rebound
 until the tick bite.

  • Through Simple Caring, You Can Help Others Through Their Pain And Illness
Today on Hempire our host is joined by William S. Eidelman, MD. William's medical education began when he was a child. His late great father was a professor of psychiatry at St. Louis University School Of Medicine. He was the only non-Freudian in the department of psychiatry for 25+ years. William learned from his father that through simple caring, they could help others through their pain and illness, sometimes. He showed him his understanding that everyone in medicine has a lot to learn, that no one really knows all the answers. Doctor's do the best they can, which was sometimes successful and often not. So this was his attitude when he started medical school. Once there, it seemed like something was missing from the medical program, but William couldn't say quite what it was at the time. It seemed like they were going in the wrong direction in several basic ways. Now he realizes that there were several topics missing or neglected.

  • The Use Of Marijuana When Treating Lyme Disease
Today on Hempire our host is joined by Dr. Ernie Murakami from Dr. E. Murakami's Centre for Lyme Research, Education & Assistance Society. Dr. Murakami became involved in Lyme Disease while in his practice based in the rural community of Hope, British Columbia. Through his practice, he developed two new methods of tick removal, one which was the Blister Method; the injection of a pre-measured mixture of Xylocaine and Adrenaline directly beneath the jaw of the tick. This method is used today, primarily in Medical offices and by Emergency Physicians. The second method was the Drinking Straw and Single Knot Method, in which the attached tick is placed inside the straw, with the straw held at a 45 degree angle. A suture string is placed under the straw, directly in contact with the mouth of the wood tick. A single knot is applied. Constant alternating releasing pressure is applied upwards away from the skin and the tick releases itself intact, from the host. This technique was accepted by the Compensation Board and the Justice Institute for the training of ambulance and first-aid personnel and is in full use today. These techniques were at the time, being taught by Dr. Murakami to other Physicians at International Conferences. During the times spent at these clinics, he became familiar with the treatment of Lyme, both long term and short term, as well as the split theories surrounding the treatment of Lyme. One fraction believed that only 3 weeks of treatment was adequate at any level, despite the fact that this had been disproven, while the other half believed that long-term treatment was required to eradicate the Cystic form of the disease, based on biological fact. Dr. Murakami became intrigued with the disease as to the epidemiology with his first case of confirmed Lyme Disease in Agassiz, BC at the Federal Penitentiary. This patient showed the typical bulls-eye rash that developed soon after being infected. A second case intrigued him further when another patient from Hope, BC was confirmed to have a typical rash and a positive Eliza serology. Both these patients responded to three weeks of antibiotic treatment.

  • Combating The PTSD And Veteran Suicide Epidemic Using Cannabis
Today on Hempire our host is joined by Jose Bellen the co-founder of Mission Zero. Jose and his wife Danielle founded Mission Zero to combat the PTSD and veteran suicide epidemic plaguing U.S. veterans. They know from our own experiences that a PTSD diagnosis isn’t a death sentence or the end of the line. But they also know that it changes everything. Danielle and Jose know how it feels to have the horrors of the battlefield follow them home. They understand what it’s like to be endlessly hounded by nightmares, depression, anxiety, sleeplessness, and the thought that there might never be an escape. They have witnessed firsthand how the current medical and veterans-support systems often can’t handle the problem, relying on oversimplified approaches, punitive mindsets, and dangerous pharmaceuticals that risk making the situation worse. Jose knows what it’s like for the war within your mind to claim collateral damage: your job, your family, your very existence.
