As a Yorkshire-based wedding photographer with a penchant for a relaxed, documentary, and editorial style, I often find myself immersed in capturing the beautiful moments of couples' special days.
Recently, I had the honor of documenting Holly and Mark's wedding at the stunning Rudding Park. Rudding Park provided the perfect backdrop for this wonderful occasion, with its picturesque surroundings and elegant architecture setting the stage for a truly magical day.
As I arrived, I was immediately struck by the tranquility and beauty of the venue, offering countless opportunities to capture timeless memories. Holly and Mark's special day was filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable moments. It's always a pleasure to witness two people coming together and celebrating their love surrounded by family and friends.
As a photographer, my approach is to blend seamlessly into the background, capturing the candid, unscripted moments that make each wedding unique. Throughout the day, I worked to capture the essence of the wedding in a way that truly reflected the couple's personalities and the joy of the occasion. From the heartfelt ceremony to the joyous reception, every moment was a treasure to photograph.
The relaxed and unobtrusive style of my photography allowed Holly, Mark, and their guests to enjoy the day without feeling overwhelmed by the camera. It was important to me that the couple felt at ease, knowing that I was there to document their story in the most natural and authentic way possible.
Ultimately, the wedding of Holly and Mark at Rudding Park was a day to remember. It was an absolute joy to be able to preserve these precious memories through my relaxed and documentary style of photography. I am truly grateful to have been a part of such a beautiful celebration and to have had the opportunity to capture the love and happiness that filled the air on that magical day.
Sophie & James: A Day to Remember at The Oakwood at Ryther
Nestled in the heart of North Yorkshire’s resplendent countryside, amidst rolling fields and whispering woodlands, there’s a place that seems as if it’s been crafted from the very essence of romance – The Oakwood at Ryther. It was here, under the open skies and ensconced within the rustic elegance of the venue, that Sophie and James declared their love for each other, and we at Richard Perry Photography had the immense privilege to capture every fleeting moment, every tender look, and the bountiful joy of their special day. As any Yorkshire wedding photographer will attest, there’s something inherently magical about weddings in this part of the world. Maybe it’s the way the landscape lends itself to love or simply the open-hearted nature of the people. But on this fine day, as the sun played a warm, golden hide and seek with us, Sophie and James’ wedding seemed to personify the very quintessence of Yorkshire charm. We approached this beautiful celebration in our usual relaxed, documentary style. Our philosophy is clear – we're there to observe, to document the moments that will soon become the fodder for anecdotes in years to come. We're there to capture the raw emotions, the spirited conversations, and the quiet, in-between instances that often become the most treasured. Our presence was unobtrusive, our manner was relaxed – just another couple of friendly faces amongst the beloved guests of Sophie and James.
The Oakwood at Ryther provided more than just a backdrop; it was a character in their story – timeless and stoic, as the couple professed their devotion amidst its woodsy embrace. Our approach allowed us to move organically through the crowd, encapsulating the shared smiles, the subtle glances, and the union of families. The editorial vein of our style comes into play as we also find those angles that flatter, that elevate the everyday to the exquisite, enshrined within frames that belong both in a family album and a glossy magazine. The revelries unfolded with the majestic ease of seasons changing.
What a privilege it was, to be part of such an incredible day, to document its authenticity and to capture moments that will forever speak of the beauty that was Sophie and James' wedding day at The Oakwood at Ryther.
Sarah and Tom's Dreamy Nuptials at Falcon Manor: A Page Straight Out of a Yorkshire Fairytale
Nestled in the heart of Yorkshire's rolling dales and picturesque vistas, Falcon Manor stands as a beacon of romance and elegance—a place where fairytales come to life against a backdrop of historic charm and contemporary flair. It was within these enchanting walls and verdant grounds that Sarah and Tom chose to exchange their vows, weaving their own love story into the tapestry of this grand destination. At Richard Perry Photography, we were privileged to capture the essence and emotion of such a magical day. And let me tell you, every moment was a scene plucked straight from a storybook. As a Yorkshire-based wedding photographer, there is always something intrinsically delightful about capturing love in its purest form—especially in a locale as breathtaking as Falcon Manor.
Our approach on Sarah and Tom's special day was no different from our usual relaxed, documentary style. We believe in the beauty of moments as they unfold, the genuine laughter, the silent tears of joy, and the tiny glances that speak volumes. That's the heart of our editorial narrative.
Throughout the day, our presence was felt only in the subtle capturing of laughter, the soft click as glasses clinked in celebration, and the countless candid moments where Sarah and Tom's love narrated itself in a language beyond words. The festivities unfolded with a grace that only a Yorkshire wedding could exude.
The couple took some time to step out into the dales with us. Here's where our editorial flair comes into play, bridging the gap between relaxed documentary-style and the beautiful staging of love. The couple, against the stunning Yorkshire landscape, encapsulated perfection—an image worthy of gracing any magazine cover.
To the couples who wish to remember the unrepeatable moments of their day—your fairytale awaits, and through our lens, we're ready to tell it with the relaxed, documentary, and editorial artistry that is our signature. Till the next chapter, Richard Perry Photography – Capturing love stories across Yorkshire and beyond.

This is the first in a series of blogs I will be writing about some of my absolute favourite wedding venues in the Yorkshire area. This week I’ll be talking about a relatively new venue, Wharfedale Grange. It is indeed only a couple of years old at this point but has quickly become established as one of Yorkshire’s most prestigious and luxurious wedding venues.
This purpose built wedding venue has been carefully crafted. Everything from the smallest detail to the full layout has been planned and curated to give a beautifully warm and inviting atmosphere. With the recent addition of the cottage, Wharfedale Grange really does have it all.
The ‘secret’ bridal preperation room is just pure glamour and the perfect place to get ready for the biggest day of your life.
The ceremony room is magical with a cascading curtain of fairy lights for couples to say their vows under.
The bespoke bar is just a marvel of function and design, and an awesome place for your wedding guests to laugh and drink together.
There is a gorgeous snug upstairs over the bar. The ideal place to curl up on a couch as the night draws to a close.
The reception barn itself is wood clad space with truly amazing light fixtures. All of the details in this room are pure elegance.
If all of this beauty is not enough they also have wonderful grounds including a pond, a wild flower field and a cottage garden. All of this surrounded by Yorkshire rolling hills.
This truly amazing wedding venue has endless photographic opportunities for a happy couple on their wedding day. The wild flower field, the fairly light curtains, beautiful sandstone and wood walls, wonderfully interesting details around every turn and gorgeous lighting fixtures. As a wedding photographer, this place really does spoil you. I am very honoured to be a recommended supplier at Wharfedale Grange and I am always excited when I get a booking to work there.
If you haven’t checked out this wonderful option for your Yorkshire wedding… DO!
