Prog-Watch is a weekly podcast dedicated to bringing the listener contemporary Progressive Rock music and artist interviews from around the world.
For this year's Christmas Special, I dug back deep into the Archives and dusted off the first one, from the very first Season of Prog-Watch back in 2014! On this program I was joined by my youngest (by about a minute) son, Paul, and we chatted and reminisced a little, and played some Christmas favorites from mostly Progressive artists. I updated the tracks to higher quality, and added a few since the show was a little short by today's standards. I hope you enjoy! Happy Holidays...however you celebrate!
This week's program is a variety show with lots of interesting tracks suggested by Guest DJ (and one of my Patrons of the Progressive Arts) Mr. Paul Watson! Plus, another crop from artists featured in this month's PROG Magazine! We'll hear tons of tasty tunes from Pencarrow, 7BZH, Vulgar Unicorn, i Häxa, Demians, Fish On Friday, No Brain Cell, Kalandra, Airbag, Gazpacho, Arabs In Aspic, and Ruby Dawn!
Â
This week our friend and resident reviewer, Dr. Rob Fisher, flies solo for the first time and presents an entire episode of Prog-Watch on his own! The program is an Our Progressive Planet feature centered on Japan, and includes music from Asturias, Ars Nova, Bi Kyo Ran, Hiromi Uehara, Kitaro, KBB, Cichla Temensis, Yuka & Chronoship, Kumorigahara, Ryo Okumoto, Gerard, and Outer Limits!
Â
Lots of great contemporary prog rock awaits on this week's Prog-Watch! We'll hear from Frost*, Raven Sad, and PROG Magazine artists Civil Service, Mark Barron, Giant Walker, and Ebony Buckle! Plus, our friend and resident reviewer, Dr. Rob Fisher, returns to take us on a voyage of Progressive Discovery with the latest album by the UK project Long Earth!
Â
This month's excursion into the realm of 101 Dimensions features an eclectic set of music from Church of Hed, Pijn, Vibravoid, Adult Cinema, and Deborah Martin & Cheryl Gallagher.
Â
On 2 November, the great Keith Emerson would have turned 80. To honor this anniversary I have remastered the Keith Emerson Tribute program I did in the aftermath of his tragic death. The program has lots of great Emerson music (with The Nice, ELP, and ELPowell) and also features commentary from some great contemporary keyboard players, including Erik Norlander, Aaron Clift, Dave Kerzner, and Luca Zabbini. I hope you will join me in remembering a legend of the Prog Rock genre, who we lost too soon.
Â
Awesome new progressive sounds await on this week's Prog-Watch! We'll hear music from Jadis, PRP, Nick Fletcher, Stuckfish, and Adult Cinema! Plus, our friend and resident reviewer, Dr. Rob Fisher, will take us on a voyage of Progressive Discovery with the latest album by Tony Lowe's ESP Project!
Â
My 101 Dimensions offering for this month includes great music from Röyksopp, Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Sequentia Legenda, and Paul Ellis!
Â
On this week's program we will look at the use of odd time signatures in Progressive Rock (and occasionally in Mainstream Rock). We'll hear from some of the big names like Yes, Genesis, The Flower Kings, Pink Floyd, Rush, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, and more! Plus, a few surprises from the "mainstream"!
Lots of fantastic stuff this week from Kite Parade, Jon Anderson and the Band Geeks, Thrailkill, Airbag, Emerald City Council, Pallas, the ESP Project, and Circuline! As if that was not enough, I will also have a nice crop of music by four artists featured in the current edition of PROG Magazine: Ex-Easter Island Head, We Are Space Horses, Jakub Zytecki, and the Emily Francis Trio!
This month's 101 Dimensions program (curated by your friendly neighborhood Prog-Squatch) features great progressive, electronic, and ambient music from Enigmatic Sound Machines, Bart Hawkins, Frore, Craig Padilla & Marvin Allen, Klaus Schulze, Ashra, and Sverre Knut Johansen!
