So I had what I am referring to as a Fan Event, because this is probably the closest to an actual Meet-&-Greet that I will ever have. My husband Paco and I hosted two of my long-time fans for a day of hiking and dinner. Henry and Christopher join me for a relaxed (that means with wine) discussion about their thoughts of how they came to be together as a couple for 40 years. We laugh quite a bit and have fun. This wonderful visit came about because I have corresponded with these two listeners for quite some time. We were honored to host these two wonderful men. I hope you enjoy the show. There is an echo at times as we were in my new studio and I haven't put up sound-proofing yet.
A show reminiscing about my early life in the 1960's and 1970's and various things and situations that helped me discover who I was. If you grew up in the 1970's, many of these things will be familiar to you.
** Please note: My Host Site had been hacked and the data was temporarily lost. I haven't been able to put out a show since all this happened. I cut my break short to produce a couple of shows to have ready when the host came back online and I could upload files. This is a show that was made about 4-5 weeks ago.**
** If you did not know what was going on that kept me from putting out new shows, you are not following An Older Gay Guy Show on Facebook. You do not have to have a Facebook account to follow my Page. Everything concerning the show is updated there constantly. FOLLOW An Older Gay Guy Show on Facebook to stay up-to-date with the show! **

In this last Sweeps episode we visit with James Taylor Jr., the LGBTQ+ artist behind the hit gay anthem Boy In A Dress, a song that was showcased on this show during the month of July. Taylor's "PRIDE" album, which he has been diligently crafting since 2019, is a testament to his commitment to celebrating queer history and icons. I hope you will enjoy this conversation.

Today, as we continue with Sweeps Period 2024, Renato Poliafito will be joining us to talk about his new baking book Dolci!. Additionally, Renato speaks about his interesting childhood bouncing between countries, his previous books, his bakeries, as well as his new pasta restaurant, which opens in just a month from now.
A joyous celebration of Italian, American and Italian-American tastes and traditions, Dolci! is a compendium of molto delizioso baked goods from both sides of the Atlantic. Baker Renato Poliafito pays homage to pastries of the Old World and the New. Renato puts his own unique spin on the baking traditions of both countries with recipes of his own invention that are a mash-up of Italian flavors and American innovation.
I hope you enjoy this unique episode.
As we continue with Sweeps Period 2024, I have a fascinating conversation with Michael Andor Brodeur, to discuss his new book Swole: The Making of Men and the Meaning of Muscle. Unbeknownst to me, Michael and I must have literally been circling around each other in Boston in the 1990's. We went to some of the same gyms, we went to the same nightclubs, we had common friends. And yet we did not know each other existed until this Interview. I thoroughly enjoyed myself as we reminisced about our childhoods and the vibrant gay life of Boston during that decade. Michael also traces our toys, cartoons and comics that started many of us young men thinking about guys with muscle. And we talk about the early days of Bodybuilding and how that shaped our lives. I think you will enjoy this topic.
As Sweeps continues, today I have a story that is both heart-breaking and heartwarming. This is a story of survival and hope. Angel Finally Found His Wings is a book you will never forget. It was valorous of Ron to tell his story, and as he mentions, it took over a decade to put the words together to properly tell the terrifying circumstances that befell him. Please listen as he tells us about his journey and the book that has become the end result.
