Sometimes, stories go unfinished! Sometimes, the writer bounces off of a book, or is bounced off of a book, or, y’know, there is bouncing involved. And then another writer comes along and changes things, or the book simply goes unfinished. But. What if…?

Holy Moly! It’s a Peter Pan and/or Power Records double feature! Listen along as we riff, joke over and comment on two 1970s superhero audio dramas, only ever officially released on vinyl! (And uh, unofficially on YouTube, of course.)

In “SHAZAM! THE WORLD’S MIGHTIEST MORTAL: THE MIGHTY DR. ILLUSION”, Billy Batson first shamelessly shills for, and then Captain Marvel ruthlessly battles, the supposedly “mighty” Doctor Illusion! Holy Moly, just who is this not at all familiar bald and bespectacled li’l mad doctor who both amazes and terrorizes the populace, all while sounding like a tweaking Truman Capote trapped in a porta-potty? (And how DOES he gets such incredible radio coverage from WHIZ!?)

Then in “WONDER WOMAN: THE AMAZONS FROM SPACE”, Wonder Woman gets super cheesed off at the Psi-Women, an invading gang of 7-foot tall space hotties who want to conquer and subjugate the world’s men! And some of them seem very into it! Board the Robot Plane and thrill as Wondy flouts intergalactic law and puts fist to Space Amazon jaw, and all for… men’s rights!? Don’t bring Hera into this one, Diana!

This time, we check in with everyone’s favourite DC hero, JOHNNY THUNDER (and his “pet genie” Thunderbolt!) as they face down the sinister scourges of disloyal butlers, heroin that makes you think you’re an ape, crime gangs, elaborate schemes to replace cement with pink sand, collapsing buildings, criminal masterminds with extremely obvious false identities, windows, repeated severe head injuries, and a super annoying life-saving genie who won’t leave you alone. It’s called a face turn, and this week, we’re talking about some of our favourite face turns in comics, as well as racking our brains trying to find villains who HAVEN’T done it before and pitching them, because, as it turns out, it’s more common than you think!

The Mortal Kombat II movie came out… several weeks ago, apparently, but MK Fever is still raging at Zero Issues Central! We finally all saw the movie, so now it’s time to talk all about it! Does it hold up to the mighty 1995 Klassic? What characters and fights were a flawless fatality or a fatal blow to the series? And what of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage? And our favourite character, Cole Young!?

But we’ve got a lot more Kombat to Konversate about! We dig into tournaments as a storytelling function, their long history in comics, games, and movies, and the ever-present shadow of “Enter the Dragon”. We match up some Krossover Kombatants, pitting the MK Krew against comic heroes, then dig into the history of Mortal Kombat comics… which is still mostly Malibu’s 1990s MK line, so why hasn’t anyone else done much with this franchise since? And we have a Casting Call for a whole bunch of MK characters — but they have to be actors from John Carpenter movies! That’s right, we’ve got “Rowdy” Roddy Piper as Johnny Cage! James Hong as Shang Tsung! Keith David as Scorpion! Wilford Brimley as Kano! Ernest Borgnine as Goro! And that’s just the tip of the Event Tower.

Here comes Daredevil (Born Again season two part two)! This week, we finish up our talk about the newest season of everyone’s favourite blind lawyer/Catholic guilt-haver/guy who might have owned the Ninja Turtles as a kid. And this time, Bry’s seen the show, so he sticks around! Not only that, but he gets to talk about the first half of the season! So, what worked for us? What didn’t? How would we change the ending, and where could the ending that we have possibly lead us into the future?
