        Our Guest: Ananda Leeke

Ananda Leeke is a Thriving Mindfully Coach, Human Design Doula, artist, and author. Ananda discovered mindfulness, self-care, and wellness when her career as a lawyer, an investment banker, and a digital communications professional stressed her out, caused burnout, and did not produce the level of success she expected. They helped her develop self-care practices, navigate change, and become resilient. As a result, she became a certified yoga + mindfulness teacher, a digital wellness educator, a reiki master practitioner, a sound healer, and an artist-in-residence at Howard University Hospital and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Today, she leads Ananda Leeke Consulting, a wellness company, and the Thriving Mindfully Academy, an online education platform and network. She also hosts and produces the Thriving Mindfully Podcast. Her books, Love’s Troubadours, a yoga-inspired novel; That Which Awakens Me, a mindful creativity memoir; and Digital Sisterhood, a mindful technology memoir, are available on Amazon. Currently, she and her father Dr. John F. Leeke are co-writing his memoir, American Change Agent (Fall 2024). She is also writing her midlife memoir, Thriving Mindfully as Theresa's Daughter (2025). In addition, she is creating a body of artwork and spoken word music that celebrates the ancestral relationship she has with her mother Theresa.

    Big Midlife Vision

In this week’s edition of Tranquility du Jour, I chat with returning guest Britt Bravo on:

    • Here are four main takeaways from the interview with Britt Bravo:

      • Redefining Goals in Midlife: Britt shares that midlife is a time to reassess goals, focusing more on present-moment fulfillment than on ambitious future accomplishments. She emphasizes the importance of valuing smaller, everyday joys and creating a legacy that’s more about connection and support than external achievements.

      • Balancing Youthful and Mature Wisdom: Britt explores the idea of integrating youthful enthusiasm with the maturity of midlife, using both perspectives to navigate change. This blend of energy helps her embrace opportunities while also honoring the lessons learned through experience.

      • Finding Grounding Through Simple Routines: Daily activities like exercise, cooking, and connecting with friends serve as essential grounding practices for Britt. She finds tranquility in nature, mindful cooking, and spending time with people who uplift her, which she views as part of her “tranquility toolkit.”

      • Supporting Others through Compassionate Listening: Britt emphasizes the value of simply being present for others rather than offering advice or solutions. This perspective shift has helped her redefine how she shows up in her personal and professional relationships, aiming to be a supportive companion on others’ journeys.

        Our Guest: Janice MacLeod

Janice MacLeod is an author, artist, and blogger known for her memoirs of an artist’s life in Paris that blend travel, art, and personal discovery. MacLeod initially pursued a career in advertising. Despite achieving success in the industry, she felt unfulfilled and yearned for a life away from the corporate grind.

She devised an escape plan to save up, reduce her belongings to one suitcase, quit her job, and move to Paris. Details of this plan are in her book Paris Letters, where she created a new life for herself by writing and painting illustrated letters, which she continues to sell on her Etsy shop to support her travels. Paris Letters became a New York Times bestseller and was praised for its charm, honesty, and its practical plan that inspired readers to follow their dreams.

Following the success of Paris Letters, MacLeod continued to write, paint, and publish. Her next book, A Paris Year: My Day-to-Day Adventures in the Most Romantic City in the World, is a beautifully illustrated diary of her year spent in Paris, capturing the daily life in the city through her artistic eye. What followed was yet another book, Dear Paris, which is a collection of over a decade of letters about life in Paris.

Janice MacLeod's story is one of transformation and courage. Her decision to leave behind the security of a traditional career to pursue her passion for art and travel has inspired many. Her work often explores themes of simplicity, mindfulness, and the pursuit of a meaningful life. Today, she continues to write, create art, and share her journey with a global audience, encouraging others to find beauty and purpose in their own lives.

In this week’s edition of Tranquility du Jour, I chat with returning guest Tara Mohr on:

    • Shifting Perspectives in Midlife: Tara shares how her outlook has evolved in midlife, focusing more on relationships and appreciating life as it is, rather than constantly striving for change or improvement.
