Episode 79 is going to be the final episode of Nerds Who Wait. This is a personal decision by me (Stephen).

I want to thank everyone who’s listened to any number of episodes over the last few years. Never thought we’d get this far. Every comment, voicemail, tweet and email was appreciated. I hope to run into, or at least talk to you again on some future project.

Nerds Who Wait Twitter and Facebook will remain online for now, but don’t expect to see much activity there.

Whoa. This is what happens when you wait a month, etc etc. Look, as we clearly establish early on, you don’t listen to us because we’re punctual…!

Loads to cover here and we get to just about everything in a massive, ear-busting two-and-almost-a-half-hours of wordiness. Star Wars Episode IX with Carrie Fisher! Everything DC at Comic-Con, including loads on Shazam, Aquaman and God help us all, Titans! Godzilla: King of Monsters with non-understanding Godzilla person Stephen! Venom! Spider-Man animated! And last but not least, we even talk Terminator 6, AKA the one where Mackenzie Davis got ridiculously super-buff!!

Aaaaand that’s not all! That takes us (almost exactly) to the 1hr30m mark, and then we’re into movies we’ve actually seen – conveniently located at the end of the ‘cast so you can avoid spoilers and there are SPOILERS for Ant-Man and the Wasp, Skyscraper (ooh dear) and of course the latest Tom Cruise snuff pic, Mission: Impossible – Fallout! Oh man, what a movie.

And what a cast! We had a great time with this one and hope you do too. Sincerely. Honestly. I’m holding your hands and looking deep into your eyes. Don’t move. It’ll get less creepy in a second. Okay. There. No, wait. There. Yeeeeaaaah.

Well. Sorry ’bout that. Didn’t mean to go all silent on you but these things happen, and here we are to spout gibberish into a microphone in an attempt to catch up with everything we missed. Deadpool 2! Solo! The Incredibles 2! Ocean’s 8, well sort of! Not Tag (or indeed, It). This one’s got it all!

What’s this? Division in the nerd camp? Argument, counter-argument, nay disagreements? Zounds! Er, why am I Thor now? Anyway – yes, this time out we’re mostly talking Infinity War with a side of Ant-Man and the Wasp, which you can’t not talk about when you’re talking Infinity War. And yes, we disagree! Strongly! In a very specific way! No spoilers for an episode which is JAMMED FULL OF THEM yes seriously don’t listen etc.

Also: apologies for some shaky (mostly, too loud) audio in this episode. Entirely my (Stephen’s) fault; I was sitting in a new spot, mouth too close to mic, etc etc. Did my best in post, but just be aware. We’ll improve for next time.

The system! There’s a system to this podcast game, son, and when you break the system you break, erm, stuff. That’s why this episode was recorded in the distant past of Wednesday, and is going live in this glorious future Saturday. So much has happened since then! An Incredibles 2 trailer! A teaser for a trailer for Jurassic World 2! And none of it is in here?!?

Wellll fine. We’ve still got chat about that Solo trailer and its general meh-ness. We’ve got more Infinity War chatter. And er some other things? It was days ago man, days!

Our diamond anniversary gives us a diamond episode and also, of course, everlasting true love. We’re talking Black Panther, Infinity War, Black Panther, Infinity War, Venom, some other movies I guess, but mostly y’know the things. Oh yeah Ava Duvernay on New Gods! WHAAAAT

All sorts of Star Wars stuff this time out, from the first trailer for Solo to the possibility of multiple trilogies / series running at the same time… can we cope with all of it? Plus we talk about the best and worst of the Superbowl trailers and prepare ourselves for Black Panther!

It’s 2018! Whereas only last month it was 2017. Well I never. Another year, another massive preview of said year, AKA “The episode where Stephen talks a whole hell of a lot* while scrolling through IMDB”.

Just about every single thing you’d expect us to talk about is in here plus more stuff that you haven’t heard about before. TRUST ME you’re gonna hear about something new this time out. Honest.
