Christmas '77 - What Christmas Promises... Forgiveness (1 John 3:1—10)

Sin is an inborn, ingrained rebellion against God. It results in death. And every single person on Earth has a sin problem.

But there is an answer to the problem. God sent His Son to provide the only solution for death. Jesus came to Earth to offer forgiveness for sin and give us eternal life.

This message was preached on December 11, 1977, at the Moody Church in Chicago, IL, when Dr. Wiersbe served as the Senior Pastor.

    Christmas '77 - What Christmas Promises... Life (Matthew 4:16, 1 John 1:1—4)

But as Pastor Wiersbe explains the four stages of this life that God gave us, we see that the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ transcends everything we’ve known before.

Faith That Can't Be Tested, Can't Be Trusted (Genesis 22)

When Faith Doesn't Make Sense, What Then?

Life is a school of learning from God and it helps us to grow in our faith. Abraham stayed in the school of faith his entire life, and studying him, we see what we can expect our lives to be like when we live by faith. Going through life in faith allows us to grow through the tests we face.

What Happened The Next Day? (Luke 7:11-17)

Many people miss the blessings of today because they are carrying the burdens of yesterday and worrying about the problems of tomorrow. But when we have Jesus as our Savior, we can live as He did—one day at a time. Ask God for the strength to face each new day, and He will give you what you need.

    Under Authority! (Luke 7)

In the Old Testament, God often took inventory of His people. In the New Testament, Paul told the church to examine themselves before God. If we don’t know what we have and where we are, we don’t know what to do or where to go. Pastor Wiersbe looks at the characteristics of the centurion in Luke 7 to help us examine our own lives.

This is the Life! (Colossians 3:1-17)

The best word to describe the Christian faith is life—life in Jesus Christ, the risen, triumphant, reigning Son of God. But there are people all around us that do not have this everlasting life. Warren Wiersbe shares three reasons everyone should accept and share life in Christ—the holiest life possible.

Years later, Warren published a book under the same title as this sermon, This is the Life! Check it out on Amazon.
