Gaetz said, “it is clear that my confirmation was unfairly becoming a distraction to the critical work of the Trump/Vance Transition.” Since the nomination, the former representative has been surrounded by controversy as he was under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for alleged sexual misconduct and illicit drug use. Back in 2023, during a changing of the guard at the MBTA, general manager Phil Eng set a plan in motion to eliminate 191 subway speed restrictions or slow zones by the end of 2024. Flash forward to now, as we near the end of 2024, there are currently only four remaining speed restrictions. However, the MBTA released a report today saying come next Monday, there will be no more Red Line slow zones. Donald Trump’s defense attorneys are pushing for the judge who presided over his New York hush money trial and conviction to throw out the case, saying it would be "uniquely destabilizing to the country". Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and his office oppose a dismissal of the case and are open to pausing the case for the four years Trump is in office. The illegal teacher strikes continue this week for three North Shore communities: Gloucester, Beverly, and Marblehead. How much progress has been made towards reaching an agreement?
