Since taking office, Surrogate Judge Cassanova has prioritized accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in the Surrogate’s Court. Within months of assuming the position as Surrogate of Passaic, Surrogate Judge Cassanova launched her “Make a Will” event initiative, partnering with legal services and the state bar association, as well as other pro bono legal groups, to provide FREE Last Will & Testaments, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Directives/Willing Wills to Seniors, Veterans, and first responders.
She is also a vocal supporter of initiatives aimed at modernizing court operations, such as becoming the first in the State and County government to introduce Artificial Intelligence as a means of making the Surrogate’s Court more accessible to non-English and English speakers alike, which garnered her national recognition as the 2024 National Top 100 Influencers in Local Government. She has also worked to improve the public’s understanding of probate law and guardianship, by expanding legal resources for underserved communities through multilingual information sessions and printed materials.
Passaic County Surrogate, Zoila Cassanova, Esq., is an experienced attorney licensed to practice law in New Jersey, New York, and the United States Supreme Court. Prior to her election, she built a respected legal career in both public service and private practice, serving as a trusted advisor in the areas of estates and trust, labor and employment law, medical malpractice, immigration, and criminal law. Her legal acumen, combined with a steadfast dedication to the people of Passaic County, has earned her a reputation as a strong advocate for fairness and equity in the legal system. In 2025, Surrogate Judge Cassanova was nominated by her peers to serve as Surrogate section Chief representing all County Surrogates. From 2023 to present, she has served on the Judiciary Liaison committee, working with the Judiciary to improve the Chancery/Surrogate process.
Ms. Cassanova holds a Bachelor of Science in Labor Relations, a Master of Science in Education, and was a licensed provisional New York State Teacher. She received her Jurist Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she taught and served as Director of the Legal Education Opportunity Program and as a member of the admissions Diversity Council.
In addition to her judicial duties, Surrogate Judge Cassanova is actively involved in community outreach, mentorship programs, and continuing legal education efforts. She is committed to fostering public trust in the Surrogate’s Court and ensuring that every individual who comes before the Surrogate’s court is treated with dignity and respect. Surrogate Judge Cassanova’s work reflects her belief that the Surrogate’s Court is not just a place for legal resolution, but a cornerstone of compassion, service, and justice for families in times of transition.

Surrogate Judge Cassanova has been recognized by various groups for her professional and academic achievements, as well as her community work. Among her recent recognitions includes 2024 National Top 100 Influencers in Local Government, Surrogate of the Year – New Jersey Peruvian, Inc.; Exemplary Mother of the Year – Desfile Dominicano, NJ, Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce of NJ – International Woman Day’s Honoree; Fairleigh Dickerson University – Hispanic Heritage Month Honoree; International Women’s Day Purple Festival Honoree; and Passaic County Board of County Commissioners Hispanic Heritage Month Honoree. Her academic achievements include being a Seton Hall Centennial Scholar and a New Jersey Hispanic Bar Association Scholarship recipient, as well as being an inductee of the Academic Honor Societies: Delta Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi.

Cynthia Rothrock is a martial arts expert and athlete, who went on to become a film actress, starring in a number of highly successful action movies. She first made a name as an action actress in Hong Kong before going on to wow audiences in her home turf. At the time of her popularity, she was well-known as the “Queen of Martial Arts films”.
World ChampionCynthia Rothrock is the World Champion in martial arts Forms and Weapons (1981-1985). Her goal was to be undefeated and retire after five years. With over 100 competitions, she holds the undefeated worldwide record in martial arts Forms competition. In weapons competition, Cynthia is the first and only woman to win number one in North America against the men—at that time, women had to compete with the men. She holds five Black Belts with a rank of 8th dan Grandmaster.
Acting CareerUpon completing her goal of being undefeated in competition, she began her martial arts acting career starring in movies produced and filmed in Hong Kong. Her first movie, Yes, Madam alongside Michelle Yeoh, broke box office records making her a massive star in Hong Kong. After three years of living in Hong Kong, finishing seven films, she returned to the United States to continue her acting career. Today she has starred in over 60 movies and is currently working on upcoming projects.
Celebrated Role ModelCynthia has been a role model for women in martial arts and film. In 1983, she became the first woman to grace the cover of Karate Illustrated. Cynthia is a proud inductee into the prestigious Black Belt Hall of Fame, along with Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. In 2016 she was the first martial artist (male or female) to be inducted into the prestigious International Sports Hall of Fame by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dr. Robert Goldman.

Paul Cimins interviews Mitch Malloy, an American singer, best known as the former lead vocalist for the rock band Great White from 2018 to 2022.
Malloy studied music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. He got his first break when he was signed to RCA. Malloy's self-titled first album featured session musicians such as Mickey Curry, Hugh McDonald and Michael Thompson.[1] His first single as a solo artist on RCA records, "Anything At All", was a top 20 rock charting hit and a pop hit in the US.[5] His third single, "Our Love Will Never Die", earned him an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.[1] His second album, Ceilings And Walls, featured guest musicians such as Bernie Leadon, Mike Rutherford and Paul Carrack.[6]
He auditioned to be the singer of hard rock band Van Halen after Sammy Hagar's departure.[7][8][9] Malloy recorded various demos with the band, and Eddie Van Halen gave Malloy an instrumental demo to use for his own endeavors. This song was released by Malloy in 2015 as "It's the Right Time".[10]The riff reemerged in the sessions leading up to Van Halen's 1998 studio album Van Halen III in the song "That's Why I Love You." The song was scrapped from the record in favor of "Josephina."[11]
Malloy has had a lengthy career featuring in various bands as lead singer, releasing solo albums, and making guest appearances as well. His latest album marks his first time completing an entire release all on his own.[12]
