Hey folks!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any episodes here. I’ve been relying on KBOO Community Radio – the station that Radio Lost & Found airs – to archive the audio and playlists for my show, however, the last couple of months their site is broken and uploading audio isn’t working. I have no idea when/if that situation will ever be resolved.

To that end, I’m going to post episodes at Archive.org going forward. They’ll be at this link. Please leave a comment there if you listened to and enjoyed the show. Or don’t.

Ooo! I haven’t done one of these in quite a while. I’ve stopped updated this blog with my bi-weekly KBOO show Radio Lost & Found since I started doing a 3 hour show (Cratedigger’s Lung) every week on WFMU’s Sheena’s Jungle Room stream. Just so much more going on over there and so little time. You can, of course, listen to Radio Lost & Found archives on KBOO’s website any time.

Anyway, technical difficulties on that aforementioned site made it necessary to upload my personal audio archive of last Thursday’s show, where I chose to devote the entire episode to the recently passed away Klaus Schulze. Shulze likely needs little introduction to regular readers to this blog, but just in case, Klaus was one of the earliest electronic musicians in the Deutsche Elektronische/Krautrock scene. He started out as a member of Tangerine Dream, The Cosmic Psychos, and Ash Ra Temple before embarking on a solo career and releasing over 60 mindblowing and influential Ambient Electronica (before those terms existed) albums.
He’s also an artist very near and dear to my heart. So, with that in mind, I thought I’d share this episode entirely devoted to him (aside from a few things thrown in).

Hi all.

I’ve been giving some serious thought whether to continue archiving my KBOO Community Radio show Radio Lost & Found here each episode. I put a lot of time and effort into posting the episodes, polishing the playlist, etc. I’m thinking now that maybe I should discontinue putting them on this blog and just leave it to the archiving on KBOO’s website.

My weekly WFMU/Sheena’s Jungle Room show consumes a lot of my free time and while doing shows on KBOO twice a month is fun, posting those episodes here seems a bit redundant and time consuming and unrewarding as few people (understandably) read blogs anymore.

So, you can always revisit past episodes here, and more here, and enjoy newer episodes on KBOO’s website (until they expire), as well as listen to my more frequent ongoing show Cratedigger’s Lung here.

Here’s this week’s episode. For reasons too boring to go into here, I start the audio stream from my home studio a few minutes before my actual show time in order for station automation to pick it up seamlessly after the last show and I use this extra time to soundcheck my system on the fly.
For similar reasons, I continue streaming AFTER my show to assure that automation has picked up the next program(mer)’s audio. All this extra audio is captured by my personal archive’s recording and I was too tired and lazy to edit out the head and tail of this week’s episode. Did I say this explanation was boring?

Tonight’s show was fun and weird.
Just before doing my show, there was a weird rumbling in the sky. It was so loud I went outside to see what it was. When I returned to my computer, there was news and spectacular images on my Twitter feed of space junk reentering the atmosphere over the Pacific Northwest and seen all over Portland (I’m just North of Portland across the Columbia River). And right in the middle of this show, a bunch of military helicopters flew over my house and nearly treetop level. This isn’t super unusual and probably unrelated, but set a spooky mood – like something out of a sci-fi film.
