    Episode 018 – PAX East 2010

Bit For Byte goes to PAX East 2011! Join Mark and Sebastian as they discuss their adventure from New York to Boston along with special guest (and Cubeecraft founder) Chris Beaumont who joined our party for the ride. We played some games (Bastion, Fez, Skullgirls and many more), we went to panels (Seth Killian and Abbie Heppe among others) and we had our collective faces melted off by Metroid Metal. We discuss all that as well as the general vibe and atmosphere of the convention.

And thank you once again for joining us Chris!

    Episode 017 – Vanquish

It’s been far, far too long but Mark and Sebastian are finally back with another episode of Bit For Byte. This episode brings our much belated Vanquish review and… not much else really. Because this episode was baking in the oven for so long (that damn, Sebastian!), it was agreed upon that our recorded news segment, being nearly three months old at this point, wasn’t really “news” anymore so it was sadly shelved. So it’s nothing but Vanquish, Vanquish and Vanquish power-sliding to you in full force.

Episode 016 – Weapon of Choice

Just how many different ways can you kill stuff in video games? Mark and Sebastian don’t have an answer to that but they sure know their favorite ways of doing it. Yes, this is another one of Bit For Byte’s infamous lists and this time it’s all about weapons. Swords, guns, gravity guns, bike chains, it’s all here. We also catch up on gaming in the form of the Enslaved and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow demos, Space Invader Infinity Gene for XBLA, ninja bear woes in Red Dead Redemption and a special Chinatown tale of a Super Street Fighter IV match between our very own Mark Robson and top ranked player Arturo Sanchez. Our trusty news segment focuses on Valve’s Team Fortress 2 in-game store, the Gears of War 3 delay and the Nintendo 3DS’ pricing among others.

    Episode 015 – Tokyo Game Show 2010

The Tokyo Game Show went down about a month ago and Mark and Sebastian, along with returning guest Andrew Roberts (who shall soon be given the title of “Official B4B Gaming Event Consultant”), are here to discuss what transpired there. Nothing but news, news, news this time around. Nintendo’s usual absence from the show and the resulting lack of news from the gaming giant was keenly felt but that did not deter our brave heroes. We tackle DmC, Shadows of the Damned, Asura’s Wrath, The Last Guardian, Catherine, Valkyria Chronicles 3, Radiant Silvergun on XBLA, Kinect titles and a lot, lot more.

And once again, thank you Andrews Roberts of the New York Geekcast for coming to chat!

    Episode 014 – Limbo + Dead Rising 2: Case 0

As promised (because we’re men of our word) we’re back with a re-recording of our Limbo review and we’ve brought along a review of Capcom’s Dead Rising 2: Case 0 for good measure. Not only that, but we also have demo impressions of both Vanquish and Shank AND a quick discussion on price vs. value AND an episode footer on Giant Bomb’s Bombcast going the “paid subscription” route. Let it never be said that we don’t make up for our mistakes. In news, we tackle the Xbox Live price hike, Duke Nukem Forever (*gasp*), the 360′s new D-Pad and Yun and Yang in Super Street Fighter IV.

Episode 013 – Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game

Ah, the woes of audio recording! Originally meant to be a two-punch review of both Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game and the indie darling Limbo, our newest episode fell victim to some recording hijinks and, halfway through our Limbo discussion, the Elders of Podcasting deemed that it was not to be and Sebastian’s part of the audio was suddenly cut off, rendering the segment unusable. And so, in the immortal words of Arnold, “it’s not ah twofer!” But our in-depth SPvsTW:TG review was salvaged and so was our news segment where we talk Metroid Metal, Arkham City, Bioshock Infinite and Catherine among others.

And don’t worry, our discourse over Limbo will be re-recorded and posted in an upcoming episode.

    Episode 012 – Catching Up

Though it seems like ages since the last episode, there hasn’t been a shortage of gaming done by our intrepid heroes and, in lieu of a more traditional review or list episode, Mark and Sebastian decide to sit back and talk about what’s been played over the past few weeks. There’s Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption, Limbo and Final Fantasy XIII and, as is to be expected, more Super Street Figther IV and more Team Fortress 2. We also dive into EVO as well as Capcom’s flurry of announcements at the San Diego Comic Con among others. A lot of ground is covered here, folks.

We also upgraded(?) to a Mac Book Pro, yes, it’s very fancy. However, not all the recording kinks have been worked out yet, so apologies in advance for a slightly less than normal audio quality.

    Episode 011 – E3 2010 Edition

E3 has happened. Press conferences, motion controls, downloadable games, 3D with glasses, 3D without glasses, cynicism, nostalgia and, among others, a freakin’ circus. Literally. There was so much ground to cover that Mark and Sebastian couldn’t do it by themselves so let’s give a round of applause to our very first special guest, Mr. Andrew Roberts. We rip on each of the big 3′s conferences, delve into a number of 3rd party titles and lament the incoming drain on our wallets. Three distinct viewpoints on the biggest event in gaming. Should be fun.

And buckle up ’cause it’s a mammoth episode.

Episode 010 – Super Street Fighter IV

Bit For Byte finally tackles Capcom’s Super Street Fighter IV! Instead of focusing on match ups, we discuss the fighting game renaissance that had been ignited a year ago by the original Street Fighter IV. It’s been 10 years since Street Fighter III Third Strike, and now more than ever it seems is a fantastic time to be a fighting game fan. The presence of stronger internet has created a stronger community and made it easier than ever for people to find competition. We take a look at the build up to the game through the development blog, the impact of streamed tournaments, our trip to Guard Crush in Brooklyn, and everyone’s favorite: Ken’s Fierce Shoryuken.

In news, Sebastian races to find a Mac to play Team Fortress 2 on, Vanquish shows off some game play, Harmonix tries to reel us back in with a Rock Band 3, and Sony learns the wrong lesson.

Episode 008 – Badass Boss Battles

In our latest episode, we tackle our personal lists of some of the biggest boss fights that have managed to be permanently imprinted in our heads. There’s Megaman, there’s King of Fighters, there’s Shadow of the Colossus, there’s World of Warcraft and everything in between. It’s a journey through genres and generations with a single purpose: to kill big bad dudes. But before all that glory and exultance (and sometimes a little pathos) we tackle some news in the form of EGM relaunching, a multiplayer Castlevania and, because Sebastian won’t give it a rest, more Team Fortress 2 news.
