    Kathryn Rusch visits with Kghia and Simeon in Episode 6 of this season's Off the Shelf. Kathryn is an award-winning writer of multiple genres. In addition to writing, she has also served as an editor and a publisher, and is the only person in the history of the science fiction field to have won both a Hugo award for editing and a Hugo award for fiction.

  • Off the Shelf - Season 04 - Episode 05 - RJ Sawyer
    In episode 5 of this season of Off the Shelf, Simeon and Kghia had the great pleasure of speaking with Science Fiction Writer Robert J. Sawyer.

    Robert has the distinct honor of having won all three of the world's top science-fiction awards for Best Novel of the Year: the Nebula (1996, The Terminal Experiment), the Hugo (2003, Hominids), and the John W. Campbell Memorial Award (2006, Mindscan). His novel Flashforward was developed into the ABC television series of the same name. K and Si were able to pick Robert's brain for over an hour, so enjoy!

    Simeon and Kghia kick off the season with an interview with Seanan McGuire, the author of the October Daye urban fantasy series and upcoming InCryptid series. Seanan also writes science fiction as Mira Grant, and reports on politics in a post zombie plague world in the ongoing NewsFlesh trilogy, the first book of which was nominated for a Hugo Award this year.

    Summer is coming and that means that Off the Shelf will be on hiatus until the Fall after this episode. Simeon and Kghia wrap up the season in grand fashion with a wonderful interview with Jane Nissen.

    The books we read as children…and those that were read to us…create some of our strongest literary memories. When the time comes for us to buy Children’s Literature, those are the books we look for. Unfortunately, some of them fall out of print. Jane Nissen, a veteran of the Children’s Literature publishing industry, is working to make some of these memorable classics available again through her publishing company, Jane Nissen Books.
