    LAVA House Official Site

MORE INFO ON HOW YOU CAN HELP!

“I’m really gonna miss the LAVA House,” Conaway said. “It’s really a huge loss. Louisville has seen several alternative spaces come and go. This was just a tragic instant that stopped a wonderful thing.” --CJ article

The GermanParistown Neighborhood has suffered a terrible loss. On Saturday, January 26, 2008, a fire destroyed The Lava House. A neighborhood friend and resident of The Lava House, Bill Christie, lost his life in the event. GPNA is taking donations on behalf of The Lava House and will be donating all of the proceeds to those involved with The Lava House. Please visit the GermanParistown Neighborhood's website to donate and help support the artists affected.

LAVA-the Louisville Assembly of Vanguard Art
    - was a warehouse down a back alley in Germantown (Shelby Pkwy) up against the train tracks. It had been used as an artspace for about half a decade (Summer 2001). They did art shows and music shows of various genres from 2001 to 2004.

Now I’ll look down the street and see a blank space and know our friend has passed away,” said Conaway, who started LAVA House in 2001 with Bart Herre. --CJ article

  • THIS SUNDAY - King Luster & Bootlegger HOST CHURCH!
Don't Miss King Luster and Kentucky Bootlegger, JenRose, as we welcome them as HONORARY HOSTS for Church on the Rocks!

THIS SUNDAY ~ The Hideaway Saloon ~ 8:30pm

Luster (Sile Singleton) hails from Columbus, Ohio, where he has been a major leader in the drag king explosion. A performer for nearly a decade, Luster is also the organizer of the International Drag King Extravaganza.

Check Fast Friday's MySpace page for the very latest details and to talk directly to Luster and all the Kewl Kingin' Kats. Add us to your friends to automatically get on the mailing list.

For the past 12 years, Si'le P. Singleton self-described as a not so young college educated, Black, Midwestern bi-cultural wife and mother, has bedazzled the Nation's audiences first as the witty ultra-high femme 'emcee-tress' Lustivious De la Virgion and second as a co-founder of The International Drag King Extravaganza (a 4-day event that merges academic and activist gender work).

More recently as LUSTER (pictured), she was a featured performer in 2004's breakout tour and highly awarded documentary, KINGS ON THE ROAD.

In PAINT! Her premiere one-person show, Si'le, academically trained as a multiculturist and critical race theorist, uses an unique blend of personal narrative, social commentary, and street savvy readiness to explore and expose the murky complicated margins that inform her ever-changing understanding of trans-self.
