What If the Treatment Is Making You Worse? | Laura Delano & Blake Mycoskie

At 13, Laura Delano was told she had an incurable mental illness and would need psychiatric medication to manage it. What followed were years of diagnoses, hospitalizations, multiple medications, and a worsening mental health crisis.

In this episode of No Magic Pill, Blake Mycoskie sits down with Unshrunk author Laura Delano to explore the question that ultimately changed the course of her life: What if it wasn’t treatment-resistant mental illness? What if the treatment itself was part of the problem?

Drawing from Laura’s two-decade journey and Blake’s own experience with a bipolar II diagnosis and psychiatric medication, they explore physical dependence and withdrawal, the risks of tapering too quickly, informed decision-making, and what can happen when we look beyond a diagnosis to understand the deeper context behind our suffering.

This isn’t a conversation about being for or against medication. It’s about agency, curiosity, and asking better questions about our mental health—including one that reframed Laura’s own journey: instead of only asking “What’s wrong with me?” what if we also asked “What happened to me?”

Because sometimes healing begins not with another quick fix, but with understanding what our pain has been trying to tell us.

No quick fixes. No shortcuts. No Magic Pill.

100% Sobriety, Male Loneliness, and Healing Parental Wounds | Karamo Brown

In this episode of No Magic Pill, Blake sits down with TV host, culture expert, and author Karamo Brown (Queer Eye) for a deeply honest conversation on vulnerability, male mental health, and the power of radical self-acceptance. Karamo shares his journey from social work to television, opening up about discovering he had a nine-year-old son at age 25, facing brutal career rejection, and breaking free from the cultural conditioning that tells men to hide their pain.

Together, Blake and Karamo explore the distinction between "giving up" a habit versus actively choosing health, why so many men struggle with hidden loneliness, and how practical tools—like monthly "friendship audits" and shoulder-to-shoulder conversations—can help create genuine connection and lasting peace.

Blake Mycoskie: The Depression That Changed How I See Success

In this episode of No Magic Pill, Blake Mycoskie is not the host, but instead the guest.  Ariane de Bonvoisin of The Spirit Collective Podcast sits down with Blake Mycoskie for a raw conversation about his TOMS success, the depression that followed, redefining self-worth, and how he found purpose beyond achievement. Blake reflects on the lifelong feeling of not being enough that drove his success, the struggles he faced after selling TOMS, and the journey that ultimately helped him build a life from a place of wholeness rather than lack. This conversation originally appeared on The Spirit Collective Podcast with Ariane de Bonvoisin

The Most Radical Form of Self-Improvement | Aubrey Marcus & Blake Mycoskie

Aubrey Marcus has built his entire life around one question, what does it actually mean to be fully human? As the founder of Onnit and one of the most respected voices in peak performance, consciousness, and plant medicine, he's gone deeper than most people are willing to go and he's willing to talk about where it's gone right and where it's gone wrong. In this episode, he and Blake explore how to approach psychedelics responsibly, what Aubrey learned inside a darkness retreat, what it felt like coming back out, and why the most important realization of his life is also the simplest, nobody else will ever be you. If you've ever felt the pull toward something bigger than yourself and didn't know where to start, this conversation is your invitation.

The Most Practical Mental Health Lessons You Can Use Today | Blake Mycoskie & Tyler Ramsey

Blake sits down with his close friend Tyler Ramsey, host of Punk Rock Sober, to unpack the most important lessons from the last six episodes of No Magic Pill. Not the highlights. The insights that actually hit hardest and deserve more than a moment. Examining the radical simplicity of what's working instead of what isn't. And revisiting the practical tools that have shown up again and again across six very different conversations with six very different people. In this conversation you’ll learn: Jewel’s approach to mindset shifts through journaling; Dr. Gabor Maté’s framework on navigating values; Joshua Bassett’s advice on how to break through negative feedback loops through service; Jim Kwik’s philosophy of achieving little wins vs finding motivation; Garrett Gee’s technique to finding joy again and expanding your comfort zone; and Paul Conti, MD’s observations on overdiagnosis in the medical industry and the 3 drives of humanity. If you've been listening and wondering how to actually apply any of this to your life, this episode is your answer.

Joshua Bassett: Shame, Addiction, and Finding a Reason to Live

In this episode of No Magic Pill, Blake Mycoskie sits down with actor, singer, and author Joshua Bassett to explore what happens when everything falls apart in public and how you find your way back in private. Joshua shares the full story behind his book, from the online hate that sent him to the hospital with sepsis and a 30% chance of survival, to a recreational ketamine experience that spiraled into addiction, to the Sunday morning ritual of feeding the unhoused that gave him his energy and purpose back. He and Blake dig into shame, silence, service, the ripple effect of generosity, morning routines that actually work, and what it means to align your passion with your purpose.
