    The Lance Armstrong doping scandal involved cyclist Lance Armstrong, who won seven consecutive Tour de France titles from 1999 to 2005 while secretly using performance-enhancing drugs. For years Armstrong denied the allegations and even sued accusers. In 2012, the United States Anti-Doping Agency concluded he led a sophisticated doping program, leading to a lifetime ban from professional cycling and the loss of all seven titles. In 2013, Armstrong publicly admitted to doping in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

    Kim Wall

    Kim Wall, a Swedish freelance journalist, was murdered in August 2017 while reporting in Denmark. She boarded the privately built submarine UC3 Nautilus to interview its owner, Peter Madsen, but never returned. Her dismembered remains were later found in the waters around Copenhagen, and Madsen gave multiple conflicting accounts of what happened aboard the submarine.

    The Max Headroom TV hijacking was a 1987 broadcast intrusion in Chicago where a masked person dressed as Max Headroom briefly hijacked signals from WGN-TV and later WTTW.

    The surreal, rambling interruption lasted about 90 seconds, and the culprits were never caught.
