- 51 minutes 32 secondsIs the Resistance Era of Democratic Politics Finally Over?
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Susan Glasser, staff writer at The New Yorker, for a wide-ranging conversation on where American politics stands heading into the fall.
They open with this week's primaries, starting with Alex Vindman's loss in Florida to DSA member Angie Nixon in the Democratic Senate primary. Is the average Democratic voter genuinely moving on from the "Resistance" era?
Susan also weighs in on whether establishment-coded, cable-news-famous Democrats losing to base-energized challengers is the real story of this primary season — or whether the DSA narrative is being overblown. And where does anti-establishment sentiment go from here, on both sides of the aisle? When it comes to foreign policy, there continues to be a lack of cohesion in the Republican party, a problem that Glasser says is likely to persist in the post-Trump era. Trump is now promising "unprecedented" economic warfare against Iran, but there seems to be little end in sight. They also touch on what happens with Ukraine in the absence of the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
Plus: the far right fringe and the young men being drawn into it. James Fishback finished a distant third in the Florida Republican gubernatorial primary, but the fact he gained any traction at all is notable. Nick Fuentes described Fishback as what a “proto-groyper president is gonna look, sound and act like.” What does the rise of this movement among young people tell us about the future of the American right?

20 August 2026, 11:35 pm - 55 minutes 25 secondsWill Tucker Carlson Inherit Trump’s GOP?
Get your tickets now for our live show at 92NY: https://www.92ny.org/event/scott-galloway-and-jessica-tarlov
Jessica Tarlov is joined by Paul Begala, CNN political contributor and Democratic strategist, for a frank conversation about where the Democratic Party stands, where it's headed, and whether the old guard is really crumbling.
They open with the state of the Democratic Party following a primary season that has seen progressive and DSA-backed candidates notch significant wins. Is the moderate establishment losing its grip — and what does AOC's effort to put "Woke 1.0" in the past say about how progressives are repositioning themselves?
Then, a deep dive on James Talarico and what his rise says about the Democratic Party's future. Talarico has hired Jacob Smith, a former aide to John Cornyn, as deputy political director. Jesse Watters has been visibly rattled on Fox News by the prospect of Ken Paxton losing. Paul grades Talarico's campaign, breaks down the attack lines flying in both directions — including accusations that Paxton stole pens, and Republican attacks calling Talarico "too loco for Texas" and a vegan — and gives his honest assessment of whether Texas can actually turn blue.
Looking ahead to 2028: Tucker Carlson is denying interest in running, but the third party conversation isn't going away. Paul thinks Carlson will run and explains Carlson’s strengths and how he stacks up to other Republican potential candidates.Plus: Jon Ossoff gives a speech about Trump’s negligence but also made a comment about Natalie Harp, one of Trump’s closest aides. She's his executive assistant and has become a fixture in his inner circle, frequently traveling with him and appearing alongside him, and the comment clearly hit a nerve with the White House.

18 August 2026, 11:13 pm - 51 minutes 42 secondsAOC’s Egg-Freezing Story Could Launch Her Presidential Run
Jessica Tarlov is joined by New York Times national political correspondent Shane Goldmacher, to check in on where the midterms stand with primary season almost wrapped up. With the results from Michigan and Wisconsin, Jess and Shane break down what voters are signaling to the Democratic Party. Is this a Tea Party-style insurgency from the left, or something more complicated?
Could Michigan Senate candidate and progressive Abdul El-Sayed be a difference maker or a liability in a state Trump won in 2024? Shane also assesses where Republicans stand amidst low approval ratings for Trump, a tough economic backdrop — but with a significant advantage in terms of cash on hand about to be deployed in ad buys across the country.
The Democratic Party has officially announced that South Carolina and Nevada will hold the first primaries of the 2028 presidential election cycle — a deliberate move to prioritize Black voters, who make up roughly two-thirds of South Carolina's Democratic electorate, as well as Latino voters and labor interests with significant sway in Nevada.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has gone public sharing her egg-freezing journey. Shane and Jessica discuss why this kind of personal storytelling resonates with voters — and what AOC's political future might actually look like, whether or not that includes a run for President in 2028. How can she navigate the tension she's likely to face from the Democratic establishment? And finally: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is stepping down at the end of the month. What legacy does she leave and who should replace her?

17 August 2026, 11:05 pm - 29 minutes 57 secondsAmerica, Actually: Who Wants Kamala to run again?
Raging Moderates is taking a short break this week, but we’ve got a great episode from Vox’s America, Actually with Astead Herndon.
We’ll be back with regular episodes on August 17th.
Despite a bruising defeat in the 2024 presidential election, early polling has Kamala Harris ahead of major Democratic alternatives like Gavin Newsom and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for a 2028 run. Her loyal base says that another White House bid feels like an opportunity to build a real campaign free from the constraints of last time. But there’s a lot of division behind the scenes. This week, Vox’s Astead Herndon travels to a picnic in the crucial primary state of South Carolina to ask voters directly what they think. And then, Astead talks with the prominent Democratic donor John Morgan, who says it’s time to turn the page on the Biden-Harris era entirely.
00:36 Is Kamala Harris running for president (again?)
02:20 Democratic insiders make the case for Harris 2028
05:16 Taking the question to South Carolina voters
06:37 Is America ready for a Black woman president?
08:56 The generational divide
12:25 The “third time’s a charm” perspective
18:08 What Democratic donors are thinking
24:32 The push for a fresh Democratic bench
25:51 Counting the votes from South CarolinaThis show was edited by Kasia Broussalian, fact-checked by Sarah Schweppe, mixed by Shannon Mahoney, video edited by Christopher Snyder, and hosted by Astead Herndon.

America has questions — and Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov have answers. In this summer mailbag episode, they tackle listener questions about such topics as: the future of the Democratic Party, whether America’s political system can recover from the Trump era, why election fraud claims persist despite a lack of evidence, and what Americans really mean when they talk about socialism and communism.
Plus, they discuss the true meaning of socialism, Scott’s ideal night in New York City, and what’s giving them hope in this turbulent political moment.

Jessica’s new book I Disagree: Winning Arguments Without Losing Friends will be on sale everywhere September 15th. For more info and to pre-order: https://sites.prh.com/idisagree
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov break down a packed Tuesday, starting with the Senate Judiciary Committee vote advancing Todd Blanche's Attorney General confirmation. Senators Cornyn and Tillis issued a joint statement thanking Blanche for terminating the anti-weaponization fund and limiting Trump's IRS audit deal — but critics are flagging loopholes in the written agreements, and Democrats were vocal in their objections during today's hearing. Scott and Jessica ask what Cornyn and Tillis actually achieved, why they ultimately caved, and what Trump's growing involvement in the DOJ means for the department's long-term independence.
Meanwhile, Jeanine Pirro met with Trump at the White House yesterday after he publicly said she "choked" in her handling of the reflecting pool vandalism case. She was seen leaving with a box and a briefcase. Trump is claiming she was pressured by a judge — but what does it say about DOJ independence when a federal prosecutor the president handpicked can be publicly humiliated and apparently removed for a decision she made on the merits?
It's Michigan primary day — and the Senate race has become the proxy war of the 2026 cycle. Progressive Abdul El-Sayed, backed by Bernie Sanders and AOC, is favored heavily over establishment pick Haley Stevens, who has Governor Whitmer, Senator Schumer, and outgoing Senator Gary Peters in her corner. Kalshi has El-Sayed's odds of winning at 98%. Scott and Jessica break down what an El-Sayed victory means for the Democratic Party's direction — and for Michigan's chances of flipping the Senate seat in November.
The House Ethics Committee is recommending that Representative Chuck Edwards be censured, finding substantial reason to believe he engaged in a pattern of unwanted advances and inappropriate conduct toward two young female staffers. In the context of the Graham Platner scandal and the ongoing allegations against Representative Max Miller, what does this say about accountability across both parties?

4 August 2026, 11:00 pm - 50 minutes 26 secondsTrump Corruption Stories Stack Up as Blanche Gets Back on Track to Confirmation
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov start by debriefing Scott’s appearance on Real Time with Bill Maher, and recapping Maher’s rant against the far-left of the Democratic Party.
Then, acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is reportedly back on track toward confirmation, after issuing a notice claiming to rescind the $1.8 billion IRS settlement fund — the so-called “anti-weaponization fund” — and narrowing the scope of IRS audit immunity granted to Trump and his family — satisfying the demands of Senators Cornyn and Tillis.
Trump Media & Technology Group — who owns Trump’s social media network Truth Social —has launched a subscription data service giving traders and investors early access to posts from the biggest accounts — including the president's — for up to $100,000 a month. And Capital One Bank has revealed it closed multiple bank accounts belonging to Trump's real estate company in 2021 following a review by its anti-money-laundering team. When does the corruption end, and what's actually being done?
U.S. Attorney for D.C. Jeanine Pirro has dropped felony vandalism charges against a former Olympic canoeist after documents revealed the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool damage was actually caused by a contractor's flawed installation.
The Commerce Department announced last week its intent to take minority stakes in seven private companies in exchange for federal grant funding under the CHIPS and Science Act, creating over $870 million in incentives for the semiconductor companies involved.
RFK Jr. appeared on CNN over the weekend in a heated exchange with Dana Bash over vaccine safety and the early days of COVID. He went on to say he was not responsible for the current measles outbreak, and that he recommends parents vaccinate their children for measles. Scott and Jessica break down whether RFK is using the Fauci diaries to discredit scientists and experts more broadly.
And finally: Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) has at last broken his silence, and has publicly called out his former son-in-law, Rep. Max Miller (R-OH), saying that Miller "should not serve in the House" following domestic abuse allegations from Miller’s ex-wife: Moreno's daughter, Emily. Miller responded in a social media livestream denying the allegations and vowing to win re-election. Will there be more Republicans speaking out?

3 August 2026, 8:06 pm - 45 minutes 20 secondsTrump Has No Strategy as the Iran War Widens and Blanche's Confirmation Falls Apart
Scott Galloway is joined by Sarah Longwell, founder and publisher of The Bulwark, and author of the upcoming book How to Eat an Elephant: One Voter at a Time.
The U.S. launched strikes against Iran overnight as the war dramatically widened in scope. Meanwhile, top Trump officials reportedly cannot agree on a strategy for moving forward. Sarah breaks down whether we've reached a genuine tipping point toward a broader regional conflict — and whether there's anything Trump could do to win back public support for a war that even many Republicans oppose.
In Congress, Todd Blanche’s confirmation is on the brink. A committee vote to advance his nomination as attorney general has been delayed after Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Thom Tillis (R-NC) expressed concerns about Trump's IRS settlement deal — demanding a written guarantee that any audit shield would only cover past tax returns, not future ones. Neither Cornyn nor Tillis is returning to Congress after this term. Sarah weighs in on what it means that lame duck Republicans are the ones displaying even the tiniest bit of backbone.
In the federal case against former FBI Director James Comey, which centers around a photo he posted of seashells arranged to spell “86 47,” defense attorneys are seeking dismissal, alleging Trump directed illegal Secret Service surveillance of Comey — with agents reportedly feeding real-time information directly to the president.
Republican Congressman Max Miller of Ohio is facing serious domestic abuse allegations from his ex-wife, Emily Moreno — who is also the daughter of Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH). In the wake of the Graham Platner scandal on the Democratic side, why aren't Republicans speaking out — and what does that tell us about the differences between the parties on accountability?
In Texas, Democratic Senate contender James Talarico has proven to be a strong fundraiser against Trump-backed Republican Ken Paxton — who beat out Senator John Cornyn in the primary earlier this year but has yet to see substantial support from major Republican money committees. What's going on with Republican fundraising in Texas?
On the economy: the Federal Reserve has held interest rates steady, but pressure is mounting with inflation remaining above the Fed's 2% target for over five years and U.S. economic growth slowing in the second quarter. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh says the Fed will not hesitate to act.
Plus, Scott and Sarah pull back the curtain on both Prof G and The Bulwark's media operations. They talk about challenges they’ve each faced by being in the politics space, share strategies for fostering community, and give some powerful advice for all creators.

30 July 2026, 10:41 pm - 53 minutes 13 secondsMichigan's Senate Primary Could Give Democrats Their Clearest Midterm Message Yet
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov preview Michigan's August 4th Senate primary, starting with last night's televised debate between progressive Abdul El-Sayed and moderate Haley Stevens. Hot topics were: Israel, AIPAC, utility costs, and who would actually focus on Michigan dominated the exchanges.
Trump was also in Michigan yesterday, appearing at a General Motors facility to tout his tariffs and their promised benefits for the auto industry — while blaming Biden and Obama for the state's economic struggles. Will his "the economy is great" message land in a state that's felt real manufacturing pain?
The Trump administration has asked the Supreme Court to clear the way for a sweeping executive order placing major new restrictions on mail-in voting ahead of the midterms, following a loss in the lower courts. Trump is also pressuring Senate Majority Leader John Thune to pass the SAVE America Act before the August recess, even raising a call to end the filibuster in order to do so. Why is Trump pushing so hard on voting restrictions — and how worried should Americans be about the integrity of the November elections?
Day one of Lindsey Graham's funeral services was held today, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky both in attendance — and both meeting individually with Trump while in Washington. It's Trump and Netanyahu's first face-to-face meeting since the start of the Iran war. Is there any chance this meeting moves the needle on the conflict?
Ahead of Dr. Anthony Fauci's subpoenaed testimony before the Senate Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, Sen. Rand Paul has released over 1,100 pages of Fauci's personal diary. Do these documents tell us anything new about COVID's origins — or just the private thoughts of a health professional whose celebrity was on the rise?

28 July 2026, 10:50 pm - 56 minutes 20 secondsTrump Pauses Iran Strikes as Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon Comes Under Fire
Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov open the week with the latest news on Iran: U.S. strikes are on hold, with Trump pausing major escalation amid growing concerns from advisors about diminished air defense munitions stockpiles in the Middle East. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Mike Waltz addressed the stockpile issue publicly this week, blaming it on former President Biden.
Meanwhile, a separate and deeply troubling story: the Pentagon has quietly lowered its official count of U.S. troops killed in the Iran war on its website. Scott and Jessica break down what to make of that.
Also under scrutiny: new reporting reveals that Hegseth's pick to lead the Navy, Admiral Daryl Caudle, was previously the subject of an inspector general investigation — and was represented by an attorney who is currently a special adviser to Hegseth himself. What toll will this culture of corruption wreak on the future of the U.S. military?
With less than 100 days until the midterms, Scott and Jessica take stock of where Democrats stand. In Maine, Troy Jackson is now the official Senate nominee, and leads Kalshi markets at 62% to win the seat. But nationally, the DNC is facing ongoing concerns about a cash shortage — even as individuals like Hakeem Jeffries and John Ossoff are raising significant sums.
Republicans have circulated a new version of a major cryptocurrency bill — the CLARITY Act — but the sticking point is the ethics clause. The Trump family has made over $2.3 billion through crypto ventures since the start of the second term, and Senate Democrats want a provision addressing that conflict of interest. Will it pass?
Finally, the rescheduled White House Correspondents' Dinner was held Friday and Trump used the occasion to go after CNN's Kaitlan Collins. Should this event get cancelled?

27 July 2026, 9:51 pm - 43 minutes 37 secondsFox News Poll Shows Democrats Leading In the Midterms — Republicans Should Be Very Worried
Jessica Tarlov and Scott Galloway break down the news, starting with the Trump administration's newly announced peaceful nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia. They talk about the biggest risks and concerns, how the optics play against the backdrop of the U.S. campaign against Iran, and what it means that Yemen's Houthis have now attacked two Saudi tankers — opening yet another front in an already sprawling conflict.
Meanwhile, the House has adopted a $95 billion budget, funding the Iran war while providing money to encourage states to adopt new voting restrictions. The House and Senate still need to agree on a unified resolution before moving to a filibuster-proof reconciliation bill, and the proposal faces much more potential opposition in the Senate. Trump rallied in Georgia last night, targeting Sen. Jon Ossoff and warning of a Democratic “radical left” takeover. Meanwhile, a new Fox News poll shows Democrats leading 59-41 in counties where the 2024 presidential election was close. Scott and Jessica dive into the numbers and ask: are Republicans worried about the depth of the Democratic bench?
Plus, the Trump administration is moving to dramatically scale back federal teen pregnancy prevention efforts. Why?
And, Scott has been appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to serve on the University of California Board of Regents. What will his first order of business be?
