Cassidy Freeman on Righteous Gemstones, Longmire and Balancing Work with Motherhood

Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m so excited for you to listen to this episode. I first met Cassidy Freeman on Longmire, where she played Cady Longmire. Before that, you may have seen her as Tess Mercer on Smallville and she’s currently starring in the final season of Righteous Gemstones, where she plays Amber Gemstone. Cassidy is obviously extremely talented, and she’s freaking hilarious on Gemstones. But man if you listen to this interview you’ll learn that she’s also just a badass person. She’s a fearless friend and a great mom and I love getting to talk to her about life, career, motherhood and everything else. I can’t wait for you to get to know her a little better! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where producer Jeph and I recap our recent whirlwind trip to Indiana where we recorded a live episode of The Sackhoff Show. We also respond to some of your questions from the Mail Sack! Send me an email thesackhoffshow@gmail.com Produced by Rabbit Grin Productions Mail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles

Sarah Levy on Schitt’s Creek, The Monkey and Growing Up with a Comedy Legend

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having a wonderful Spring. I’m so excited for you to listen to today’s episode! If you’re a fan of Schitt’s Creek, then you know Sarah Levy from playing Twyla in the show-- she also happens to be the daughter of Eugene Levy and the sister of Dan Levy. I had such a fun time hearing the inside scoop on that show, which is one of my favorites of all time, as well as what it was like to grow up in such a funny family. Sarah is currently starring as Aunt Ida in a new horror movie called The Monkey, which is adapted from a Stephen King short story and directed by Osgood Perkins. We talk about how much fun she had doing horror (if you haven’t seen the movie yet, it sounds TERRIFYING). Sarah lost her home in the Palisades fire, so the conversation starts in a vulnerable place— but I’m so glad it did, because we get to go deep pretty fast, and I feel like I made a new friend! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where my producer Jeph and I talk about the episode and respond to listener fact checks from the Mail Sack! Tricia Helfer Joins the Hindsight to Talk Ron Moore and All Things Battlestar

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Last week’s episode with Battlestar Galactica creator Ron Moore was such a doozy, we had to call in re-enforcements to discuss it. And who better than my Battlestar Bestie Tricia Helfer? You know Tricia from her role as Number Six. She also played Charlotte Richards/Goddess on Lucifer and voiced Sarah Kerrigan in StarCraft II, among many other roles. I love any excuse to get together with Tricia and it was such a blast to do a deep dive into Ron’s interview (Sorry, Ron— we’re not over it!). We talk about how Ron built a collaborative set on Battlestar, getting booed at our first Comic-Con, the moment Tricia switched from dying her real hair to wearing a wig as Number Six, and so much more! Plus, Tricia and I brainstorm projects for our reunion— Cagney and Lacey, anyone?

Ron Moore on Battlestar, Outlander, For All Mankind and His Deep Love for Star Trek

Look out, everyone: This week’s episode is an all-timer! We’ve got the one and only Ron Moore in the STUDIO. I am still so intimidated by Ron and it was such an honor to sit down with him for this conversation. If you DON’T know Ron Moore, I don’t even know what to say. He created Battlestar Galactica, Outlander and For All Mankind. He spent a decade writing for Star Trek, on both The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. His mark on American sci-fi is massive and I can’t believe I get to call him my friend. We talk about all things Battlestar, including a really beautiful conversation about the show’s ending. We talk about how he got his start writing for Trek, what he’s learned from the characters he’s created and what’s next on the horizon for him. I know you’ll enjoy this conversation, it’s one of my absolute favorites. After the interview, stick around for a tease of next week’s episode— We’ve got something super-fun and special planned for you! Come see us live in Indiana! Harvey Guillen on Companion, What We Do In the Shadows and Becoming a Red Carpet Icon

Hi everyone! We’ve got a really fun episode for you today. It’s not every week I get to interview someone where I’m just genuinely a huge fan, but that is what happened with Harvey Guillen. I literally went up to him at a convention and told him I loved him (couldn’t help myself!). If you don’t know Harvey’s work as Guillermo in What We Do in the Shadows, stop what you’re doing and go watch. I absolutely love him on that show. He’s got a new movie out called Companion, where he plays Eli. You may also know his amazing voice work in movies like Wish, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish and The Garfield Movie. It was such a treat to spend some time with him and get to know him better! I particularly loved getting to talk to him about his red carpet collaborations with Christian Siriano and others. After the interview, be sure to stick around for the Hindsight where producer Jeph and I talk about why he has so many pictures of me on his phone! Plus, we pull fan questions from the Mail Sack. Mercedes Varnado on The Mandalorian and Trading Sasha Banks for Mercedes Moné

Happy Tuesday, everyone! For today’s episode, I am getting into the ring with my friend Mercedes Varnado (more wrestling puns to come, don’t worry). I met Mercedes on The Mandalorian where she plays Koska Reeves, and she is a superstar in the world of wrestling. As Sasha Banks, she was the first woman to headline a WWE Pay-Per-View Event and as Mercedes Moné, she is the current AEW TBS Champion in her first reign. She doesn’t give very many interviews out of character, so this was a real treat. We talk about wrestling and acting, and what they have in common, and we just talk about life. It was interesting to hear her reflect on her evolution as an entertainer and what it has taken to become the CEO of her own career. Be sure to get up off the mat and stick around for the Hindsight (see what I did there?) where my producer Jeph and I talk about the interview and answer fan questions from the Mail Sack! Rachael Harris Talks Bringing the Comedy on Suits, Lucifer and The Hangover

Happy Tuesday! We’ve got a super-fun episode for you this week— it’s my friend, the hilarious Rachael Harris! Rachael is hands down one of the funniest people I know and if you don’t know her name, you definitely know her work. She’s been in movies like The Hangover, Best in Show and Diary of a Wimpy Kid and has done a ton of TV, including playing Sheila Sazs on Suits and Linda Martin on Lucifer. We talk about where her sense of humor comes from and how it has gotten her through difficult times in life. We laugh a LOT in this episode, and the conversation also gets deep pretty fast— we talk about both choosing surrogacy and how having kids changed how we view our parents. It’s a beautiful conversation with one of my favorite people— I hope you check it out! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph tells me about Winnebago Man and we trade horror stories about terrible cups of coffee. Adam Bartley on Playing The Ferg, our Longmire Family and his Fitness Journey

Hi everyone! For today’s episode, I got to talk with one of my absolute best friends in the world. You guys, it’s Adam Bartley! Adam and I first met on Longmire, where he played The Ferg. We have stayed super-close over the years— he even lived in my backyard for awhile, but that’s another story! Adam is such a talented actor and a beautiful human being. We talk about his recent experience playing Byron in Night Sky, as well as his theatre background, including being mentored by Mandy Patinkin. We talk about how the cast of Longmire became a family and no spoilers, but our interview even gets interrupted by a certain mutual friend! Be sure to stick around for the hindsight, where we have another surprise guest for you— friend of the show Paul Sun-Hyung Lee is back to unbox his new action figure. It’s a packed episode— you won’t want to miss this one! Send me an email thesackhoffshow@gmail.com Produced by Rabbit Grin Productions Mail Sack Song by Nicolas @producer_sniffles

Rob Kazinsky on His New Star Trek Film Section 31 and Nerding Out with Guillermo Del Toro

**Section 31 Spoilers!** Happy Tuesday everyone! Today’s guest is the amazing Rob Kazinsky. Rob and I have never worked together, but we’ve been in the same circles for years and it was such a pleasure to sit down and talk with him! You know Rob from his time as Sean Slater on EastEnders, and from playing Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim and Orgrim in Warcraft. And now, he is fulfilling my dream and joining the Stark Trek universe. You can currently see him as Zeph in Section 31! We talk about the new movie and the controversy it’s stirring up among the Star Trek faithful. We also just talk about life, including Rob’s autism diagnosis and how he has weathered some challenging moments over the course of his career. I was surprised at how deep we got in such a short time, and I think you’ll enjoy this conversation! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph and I discuss the episode and open up the Mail Sack for some fan emails.

Alexandra Breckenridge on How “Cozy” Virgin River Became a Surprise Hit

Hi everyone! Today’s episode was such a treat. I have known Alexandra Breckenridge since we were babies in the industry— we did a pilot together called Locust Valley almost 25 years ago. Since then, Alexandra has had an unbelievable career. She played Jessie Anderson on The Walking Dead, Sophie Larson on This Is Us and now she’s doing amazing work as Melinda Monroe on Virgin River. We talk about what it takes to build resiliency as an actor and why we both ultimately decided to leave California. I gotta say, she lives on a beautiful farm in Georgia and if you don’t already follow her on Instagram, you definitely should. Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph and I give an update on the fires in LA and read your pitches for how I can brand a day of the week for Bo-Katan (Fracked-Up Fridays, anyone?).

Mark-Paul Gosselaar on Coming into His Own after Saved by the Bell

If you're looking for ways to help those impacted by the Los Angeles fires, you can do so here: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2025-01-08/how-to-help-victims-of-pacific-palisades-eaton-and-hurst-fires

Hey everyone! My guest this week is the one and only Mark-Paul Gosselaar. That’s right— it’s Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell! Teenage me would be absolutely FREAKING OUT. Of course, Mark-Paul has had a long and super-impressive career since his heartthrob days and we get into all of it. From Franklin & Bash to Pitch to his current role as Hugh "Sir" Evans on NBC's Found, he really has an unbelievable range. Plus, we also talk about our shared love of motorcycles (or maybe former love?), racing and fitness. The two of us could do a whole podcast about the glories of a cold plunge and sauna, but we TRY to control ourselves. After my conversation with Mark-Paul, be sure to stick around for the Hindsight where my producer Jeph and I discuss health trends, our sleep habits and the pros and cons of splurging on a fancy mattress.
