From the Webby Award-winning creators of The Box Of Oddities Podcast comes The Shallow End with Schnebly and Toth.Friends since childhood, Lindsay Schnebly and Jethro Gilligan Toth have always shared a love for stories of people doing ridiculously dumb things. They found it wildly amusing as young boys. They still do today. This is your invitation to pour a strong drink and join them for true stories that are tragically hilarious.
Episode #144 of The Shallow End is chock full of vitamins and other nutrients! (Okay. It’s not. But it is entertaining as hell.) Lindsay’s story comes to us from Kissimmee, FL, where a young woman and her boyfriend decided to celebrate the man’s birthday at a local motel by ordering a pizza delivered to their room. Everything was going swimmingly – until the police were called. Find out why! (Note: It involves drivers who will stop at nothing to drive home their opinions on the importance of gratuity.) Then Jethro takes us to the mountains above Tucson, AZ, where a gentleman was enjoying the sweeping views of the city before a late monsoon rain blew in to wash away the summer heat. What an unfortunate time to have to answer nature’s call. No worries! When you’re a male, the whole Earth is your bathroom! (Shame about the timing of that lighting strike!)

Defying all laws of common decency and good taste, Jethro and Lindsay have finished another episode of The Shallow End! J.G. kicks things off with a story of a man no longer content with the standard methods of removing snow from his backyard. Anyone can shovel it – but where’s the inventive spirit of adventure in that?! There are times when a man needs to harness creativity – and a big tank of flammable propane – to achieve his dreams! Lindsay follows up with a primer on why it’s important to keep your license plates up to date. His story from Oklahoma (OK!) involves a most usual traffic stop for some expired tags. How would that lead to the discovery of a caged rattlesnake, an open bottle of bourbon, a loaded firearm and – wait for it – a bottle of uranium? So glad you asked, gentle listener. The answer is waiting for you in this week’s episode!

In Episode #142 of The Shallow End, Jethro’s out of the gate with a story of a young woman who took an elderly relative to help him withdraw thousands of dollars from his bank. Just one hitch there – the man didn’t appear “to be well.” It kind of went downhill from there. Then Lindsay shares a story about a firefighter who really liked flames. I mean…I REALLY liked Flames. So much so that an arson investigator took over the case, and it wasn’t hard for the investigator to figure out who the culprit was. Douse those flames of boredom and listen to this week’s episode of "The Shallow End!"!

On Episode #140, Jethro and Lindsay marvel that they’re recording another episode. And, oh, the stories they tell! Lindsay starts us off with a woman who had many things to do before New Year’s Eve – including texting her drug dealer for some fentanyl. Only one hitch in that plan – she didn’t quite text the right person. Hilarity and handcuffs ensue! Then Jethro shares a story of a robbery gone awry in Yorkshire in the U.K. It involves a retired construction worker who just wanted some clean clothes. But when a youthful criminal decided to rob the laundromat, our retired hero had other plans. It involves wet pants. (But truth be told, what good stories don’t?) Onward into the Shallow End!

It’s a new year, but here at the Shallow End, we’re already out of fresh content—so strap in for a recycled classic! It wasn’t so much the burglarizing as it was what they did with the plunder, and JG’s got the extremely disturbing (yet undeniably hilarious) story to prove it. Then, Lindsay reminds us that 911 should be reserved for actual emergencies… you know, like real-life threats and not just mild inconveniences. And don’t forget our most important safety tip: never listen to the Shallow End while taking a bath with a plugged-in air fryer—trust us, it’s a real buzzkill.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year—when you’re permitted (and strongly encouraged) to sip eggnog and pretend you forgot that embarrassing childhood performance of “Jingle Bells” on your parents’ camcorder. But guess what? We didn’t forget. And we’re bringing you something just as classic and cringey—a rerun from two Christmases ago!
Join us as we sleigh-ride back in time to an episode packed with questionable decisions and awkward outcomes, like what happens when you attempt to steal a trailer, but you're not too bright or why we should never fiddle about with the weather. It’s our Christmas gift to you—and the best part? You can re-gift it guilt-free to your friends, family, or that random coworker who keeps forwarding you cat memes.
So, don your ugly sweater, grab a candy cane (or something much stronger), and tune in for a holly-jolly re-gifted serving of The Shallow End. No matter how you celebrate, at least you’ll have this greatest hit to amuse you while Uncle Gary attempts his 47th retelling of “The Night Before Christmas.” Merry Reruns!

On Episode #134 of The Shallow End, Jethro kicks things off with the trifecta of vodka, a bored Polish farmer and a chainsaw. It starts off weird – and gets only moreso! (Hint: Only one guy dies!) Then Lindsay has the story of a man who broke into a church to steal. His worst mistake? Not knowing that the pastor was as experienced with Mixed Martial Arts as he was with dispensing forgiveness for sins. (Hint: Nobody dies! But someone ends up in Jail.) Episode #134 is chick full of laughs and life lessons!
