    The Snare, from ABC News

Today, we have something a little different for you: it’s the first episode of The Snare, from ABC News and 20/20.

The Snare examines the gruesome murder of 18-year-old Angie Dodge, who was killed in her apartment in Idaho Falls in 1996. As investigators hunted for her killer, DNA recovered from the crime scene pointed to an unidentified suspect. Despite the evidence, police built their case against another man, Chris Tapp, securing a conviction that later unraveled while the real killer remained at large. As the years passed, Angie’s mother Carol never gave up on a decades-long mission to uncover the truth. It took twenty long years, but finally, through Carol’s persistence and some incredible new DNA matching technology, Angie’s real killer was put behind bars. The Snare tells the whole story, including audio from Chris Tapp’s interrogation and so much more.

Here’s the first episode, and you can keep listening by following The Snare on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

The Real Fugitive: Murder of the Fourth of July

On July 4, 1954, a pregnant woman was bludgeoned to death in her Ohio home, and suspicion immediately fell on her husband, a young surgeon who claimed a "bushy-haired" intruder was responsible. The case became a media sensation and later inspired the film The Fugitive. Decades on, the question remains: did Dr. Sam Sheppard get away with murder, or did the system nearly destroy an innocent man?

    Where is Kristin Smart?

A 19-year-old Cal Poly freshman leaves a Memorial Day party in 1996 and never makes it back to her dorm. No body, no crime scene – just one last person seen walking beside her in the dark.

For nearly 25 years, the case of Kristin Smart went cold — kept alive only by a family that refused to stop asking questions. It took a small-town sheriff willing to break silence and an outsider podcaster methodically knocking on doors to finally crack open what happened that night — and why so many people stayed quiet for so long.

BONUS: Inside the Mind of Rex Heuermann — with Dr. Joni Johnston

On June 17th, Rex Heuermann was sentenced to life in prison without parole — but the verdict only deepens the question at the heart of this case. What kind of man keeps a private "how to get away with murder" playbook and still convinces his wife, his neighbors, and his coworkers he's just an ordinary Long Island dad?

In this Crime Scene bonus, forensic psychologist Dr. Joni Johnston joins us to unpack the psychology of the Gilgo Beach killer: how Rex Heuermann compartmentalized two lives for more than a decade, why the people closest to him never saw it, and what the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit will be looking for when they finally sit across from him.

    Gilgo Beach Killer

A Long Island architect and family man pleads guilty to killing multiple women — finally putting a name and a face to a case that haunted New York for more than a decade.

But as investigators unearth Rex Heuermann's private "how to get away with murder" playbook and the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit prepares to sit across from him, the real chill comes from how carefully he studied the people hunting him, and how many chances those closest to him had to see who he really was before the bodies were ever found.

    Hollywood Con Man

He had the trailers. He had the real law-enforcement locations. He had photos of himself grinning beside power players in Washington. The one thing Joseph Medawar didn't have was the show — a patriotic prestige drama about the Department of Homeland Security that he raised millions to produce, and that never aired a single frame.

This week, Jonathan and Cooper trace how a B-movie producer in Los Angeles turned a TV series that didn't exist into the most convincing performance of his career — and how long it took the people writing the checks to realize the only thing in production was the con itself.

    The Antifreeze Murders

A church organist in Springfield, Missouri buries her husband, then her son, both written off as victims of the same nasty “flu.” When a third family member suddenly collapses, that “coincidence” starts to look more like design than fate, and the question becomes who inside the Staudte house was quietly deciding who lived and who died.

    Mountain Man Mike

A reclusive “mountain man” in the Montana backcountry lives off the grid with his wolf‑dogs and a stack of trespass complaints, convinced the rutted dirt track to his cabin is his to control. When he disappears and dismembered remains in garbage bags surface along a lonely mountain pass, the bad blood on Turk Road suddenly looks less like a neighbor dispute and more like the start of a chilling question: who decided this feud would end in murder?

Kouri Richins has been sentenced — and we're breaking down every detail with Annie Elise. But first, Cooper and Jonathan share the wild ride that got Kouri here.

Convicted of aggravated murder for poisoning her husband Eric with five times a lethal dose of fentanyl, Kouri faced either 25 years to life or life without parole.

The prosecution asked for the maximum — and Eric's own sons said they're afraid of what she'd do if released.

Annie Elise (Serialously, 10 to Life) joins us to break down the verdict, the victim impact statements, the sentencing decision, and what comes next — including the expected appeals process.
