The things you find out when you ask people about their food memories can be soulful, spicy, sensational, sour, and often sublime. Often you'll discover something you never knew about the person you asked - and this is what the Three Food Memories podcast is about, how every food memory is linked to a moment in time. Three Food Memories is hosted by Savva Savas, dad of twin boys, entrepreneur, caterer, and creator. In each episode Savva chats with a guest who shares three food memories and a social cause close to their heart, revealing far more about themselves than what they’ve tasted.Be prepared for some hilarious and otherwise never-heard-before stories, and if you love listening - please tell your friends (and like, subscribe, and follow for all the goodness!)
“Four people start this adventure every year to make an attempt to get to Alaska, but usually everyone quits in the first year. Most people quit because they say they fall in love.” - Lucy Barnard
Our guest on this episode of TFM is on a mission most of us would only dare dream about - to walk the length of the world. Yup, WALK.
Currently on her 22nd pair of shoes, Lucy Barnard joins us with her trusty companion Wombat from Denver, Colorado - where she's prepping for the final part of the journey, which'll take two more years. 18 months if all goes to plan.
On the menu is; King Crab empanadas after a week of misery, freshly cooked beef after stumbling upon a cottage during an alpine blizzard, Wombat's free food at markets on the Inca Trail, plus a bunch of insights you'd only hear from someone attempting this incredible feat.
Lucy's social cause is CLIMATE - a community led initiative to monitor alpine temperature extremes which Lucy is ambassador for, carrying a MeteoTracker with her to measure the weather along her journey.
Follow @tanglesandtail for more epic adventuring.

"Every recess, every lunchtime, I had detention. I had to write on the board "I will not interrupt the class, I will not interrupt the class, I will not interrupt the class..." - Rae Johnston
Our guest on this episode of TFM is a science communicator with a twist. A Wiradjuri and Greek woman with a little Welsh in the mix too, Rae Johnston is as warm and enveloping as her homemade (and grown) spiced apple cake.
On the menu is; roast lamb that knocked eight years of being vego on the head, mum’s triple choc mud muffins, Greek feasts on dad’s side of the family, lessons on bringing a new partner into a single-parent family, where her love of horror movies and gaming came from, and why there's nothing more depressing than a sad, flavourless meal.
Rae's social cause is UNICEF because kids are the most vulnerable people in humanity and we have a responsibility to protect them. She's a UNICEF ambassador (just like Angelina Jolie!) and is host of their podcast NextGEN.

Former youth pastor and winner of Masterchef Justin Narayan is our guest on this episode of Three Food Memories. If you LURVE food, this one is for you - although you will have to listen to people eating it at the same time, so there's a warning for you.

On the menu; Fijian Lovo, Chicken curry, and dine-in family restaurants Pizza Hut, Sizzler, and Chan’s Chinese.

“I do think one-on-one conversations are more likely to change people” - Rachel Griffiths
Aussie icon Rachel Griffiths is best known internationally for her Golden Globe-winning performance as Brenda in Six Feet Under, and starring alongside Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding.
But for us downunder, she’s the rockstar bestfriend of Muriel Heslop, Rhonda Epinstall in Muriel’s Wedding.
Rachel’s latest show Madam is about a woman who opens an ethical and feminist brothel after finding out her husband was cheating on her. It’s a funny and boundary-pushing series which everyone should watch and Rachel stops by to tell us all about it, make up some words, explain feminomics, spill the beans on where in the world has the best food on set, why a degustation is torture, and why she’s a coffee Karen but a great kitchen designer - along with some deeper thoughts on the state of the world at the moment which are insightful and reflective.
On the menu is; mangoes from grandmother's garden, hot chocolate in Venice, and dinner on Amtrak with the Amish
Her social cause is Back to Back Theatre Company - an Australian theatre company that engages with disabilities on stage. The company is based in Geelong, Victoria. It creates its work nationally and tours around the world. The work produced by the company explores questions about politics, ethics, and philosophy in humanity.
