how lisa sthalekar became the first woman president of the world cricketers association

Lisa Sthalekar was the first woman to score 1000 runs and take 100 wickets in the history of One-Day International Cricket.

But Lisa’s cricketing journey began in her teenage years when she became the first woman to ever join her local cricket club, and as they say, the rest is history. Lisa went on to captain the New South Wales Breakers and the Australian national team on many occasions.

But her resume off the pitch is just as impressive: winning back-to-back Belinda Clark medals, becoming the first woman to be President of the World Cricketers Association, and most recently co-founding Around the Wickets: A women's cricket travel business encouraging fans to travel the world to support the Australian team.

Keen to join Around the Wickets for your next travel adventure? Find out more about Lisa's next trip here: https://atwickets.com/

from making your wnbl debut at 14-years-old to becoming a pro baller with shyla heal

Shyla Heal debuted in the WNBL at just 14 years old.

In the decade since her debut, she’s gone on to play for five clubs in the Australian Women’s Basketball League, including the championship-winning Townsville Fire in 2023.

But one of the biggest moments of Shyla’s career came when she was drafted by the Chicago Sky in the 2021 WNBA Draft. Shyla played just four games before being traded and waived from the roster in the most brutal of ways. But now she’s using it as motivation to one day return to the World’s Best Women’s Basketball league.

Now back in Australia, Heal is awaiting her return to basketball as she recovers from a knee injury, ready to take to the court this season with the Geelong Venom. We hope you enjoy this episode
