Challenges and Life Lessons from Every Year of My Thirties

Before I reached my thirties I had a (very untrue) perception that life in my thirties would get easier, I would be more of an ā€˜adultā€™ and life would seamlessly flow along. I was in for a shock when I realized quite quickly that adulting isnā€™t really a feeling (not one that was going to come in my thirties) and that this decade was full of huge changes, decisions and challenges.

In this vulnerable and honest solo episode I am reflecting on each year of my thirties and I have picked one big challenge I went through and the subsequent lesson I learned and took with me on my thirties journey. The stories I am sharing range from discussing career uncertainties, relationship struggles, feelings of being left behind, and welcoming in new chapters and identity shifts.

I invite you to join the waitlist for my brand new membership program TURNING. A community space designed for women in their thirties to support each other. Doors are re-opening in March-sign up here to get first access (there will be limited spots!).

Great Relationships Come to Those Who Wait: why itā€™s a good thing to find love later on
To get your FREE dating values workbook, click here. To get on The Next Chapter in Love Waitlist for the October live group (and receive $200 off), sign up here. My hot take (that some may disagree with me on until you listen to this episode) is that the best relationships come to those who wait for them. We have been fed the belief that those who end up with their high school sweethearts are the lucky ones, while those who remain single in their thirties are unlucky in love- but what if this just isnā€™t true? What if the greatest love stories happen later than we initially planned? In this episode I argue my case for why I believe that when people meet when they have already established their identity and have spent a significant time alone, they can have better romantic relationships. I also divulge the juicy details of how I met my fiancĆ© and how our story is a great example of why a good relationship can come after two people have already got to know themselves, spent time focusing on their self-development and are ready to take the next steps. This episode is for you if you have ever doubted your journey and how long it is taking you to find love. Follow me on Instagram @turning30coach and let me know what you thought of this episode!

Reflections On My Journey of Being Single at 33 to Becoming a Mother at 36
My journey of going through a break-up at 33 created panic about whether I would be able to have children and if time was ā€˜running outā€™ for me. Ā  I used this time in my thirties to create a life that I love, whilst also focusing on my desire to meet someone and start a family with them. Ā  Fast forward four years and my path unfolded and a few months before my 37th birthday I gave birth to Lenny, my first child. In this episode I am answering your questions about what it has been like to become a mother at this age, later than I had anticipated. Ā  We live in a world where, despite the fact that becoming a mother from the ages of 35-40 is becoming more common, there are still fears and misconceptions about a womanā€™s ability to get pregnant after the age of 35. Ā  The episode covers: Was it difficult to get pregnant at this age and did I use the eggs that I had frozen at age 35 The taboo of talking about getting pregnant successfully Was I treated differently in my pregnancy and birth because of my age (the term ā€˜geriatric pregnancyā€™ often scares women into having a baby) An honest and vulnerable share about the positives and negatives of having a baby at this age Ā  If you are in your thirties and looking for love, I urge you to check out my Next Chapter in Love course. How to Deal With Panic In Your Thirties, Feeling Lost and Doing The Work To Turn It All Around Ft Kam Sagoo
This episode is a showcase of one of the most profound client transformations I have had the pleasure to support. Ā  My client Kamā€™s life looked very different two years ago when she first reached out to me for a consultation call. Ā  She was officially stuck in a rut. Just about to turn 30 she had a ā€˜good, stableā€™ job she didnā€™t like and had been debating leaving for a while, was in a relationship that she knew had no long-term future, was living at home with her parents and was struggling to see how she could get out of this situation to create a new future in her thirties.Ā  Ā  After reading books and podcasts about personal development in 2020, she decided that she actually wanted to start to actually implement some of the things she was reading about and make big life changes. Thatā€™s what led her to coaching and to signing up to a 1:1 program. Ā  Fast forward two years, her life has done a complete 180. Ā  She ended her relationship, found a new job, bought her own place and moved out of her parents house and has spent the past year going on solo travel adventures and enjoying her life. Most of all the goal that she set, and is continuously working on, is having so much more life in her years, a mentality that Kam also has inspired me to adopt. Ā  All of these external results are cause for celebration, but as you will hear in the episode, the biggest change of all was her mindset. Kam took a long, hard look at her thoughts and used coaching tools to create a new internal narrative. Through coaching, she has learnt to enjoy the journey that is life, and to stop worrying so much about the destination. Ā  From panicking about being single and never meeting anyone, to now embracing her thirties and living a life on her terms, she is the perfect example of a Turning 30 success story. How To Know If Your Partner is "The One" Ft Sarah Yudkin (Re-run)
Weā€™ve all heard those familiar phrases when it comes to starting a new relationship: ā€˜when you know you knowā€™, but what if you start a new relationship or youā€™re already in a partnership and you donā€™t instantly know that this person is ā€˜the oneā€™? For some reason, weā€™ve been tricked into believing that once we meet someone and get into a relationship, that we will live ā€˜happily ever afterā€™ and things will just nicely slot into place. Add to this the fact we are bombarded with an array of different opinions on relationships such as ā€˜when you know you knowā€™, itā€™s no wonder that when people start to have any doubts or questions in their relationship, they donā€™t know where to turn. In this weekā€™s guest episode, I have invited life coach Sarah Yudkin on to talk about a topic that I donā€™t think gets nearly enough airtime: relationship anxiety. We dive into so many interesting topics, including: how to know if itā€™s anxiety or incompatibility? what to do (and what not to do) if you experience doubts in your relationship how relationship anxiety shows up and how it can affect you whether age affects anxious feelings in a relationship the topic of settling and what it means to ā€˜settleā€™ in a relationship ā€˜the grass is greenerā€™ syndrome that we can experience when we are single or in a partnership Sarah is such a source of wisdom on this topic, based on her own personal journey of feeling anxious, doubtful, and uncertain in her own relationship to feeling a deeper sense of commitment, fulfillment, and optimism than she dreamed was possible. Since then, she has helped over 750 people from 35 countries through online coaching, courses, and webinars. The You Love and You Learn online community consists of over 220,000 people on a journey to show up more intentionally in their relationships.
