The Thirst Time - Kevin Smith - Bale Breaker

To go alongside our collaboration with Bale Breaker and Loftus Ranches, we sat down with brewmaster and co-founder Kevin Smith.

Bale Breaker isn't your usual brewery. It sits in the middle of a hop field on Loftus Ranches, the family farm in the heart of the Yakima Valley, where the Smiths first planted hops back in 1932. Today, Kevin's dad, Mike and brother Patrick run the farm, while Kevin, his sister Meghann, and brother-in-law (also Kevin) run the brewery.

It's a true family affair. Raised on a hop farm, Kevin left to cut his teeth brewing in Seattle before coming home to build something pretty special: a brewery surrounded on all sides by the very hops that go into the beer.

    Enjoy.

The Thirst Time - Jeremy Grinkey - Everywhere Beer Co

This week on the podcast, we have Jeremy Grinkey of Everywhere Beer Co.

The word "legend" gets thrown around a lot, but it sits perfectly with Jeremy. After taking the lead at The Bruery's world-renowned barrel-aging program (The Bruery Terreux), he and a few of his associates left to set up Everywhere Beer Co.

His love of wine, people, and beer shines through, and it was an absolute joy to sit down with him and hear more about his journey.

The Thirst Time - Ryan Nosek - Ghost Town Brewing

If you love West Coast IPA, this one's for you.

We were lucky enough to have Ryan and Noah from Ghost Town Brewing stop by on their way to MBCC and naturally, we had to brew a West Coast IPA together.

Their beers blew us away, and their passion for what they do is something else. Getting to learn from them was a real privilege, and only deepened our love and reverence for the style.

The Thirst Time - James Rylance - Ideal Day Family Brewery

Three and a half years ago, we sat down with James as he was embarking on his new brewing project, Ideal Day.

James was never interested in just brewing for brewing's sake; he wanted to make a difference and use the knowledge he'd accumulated

through years of working in the brewery industry to create something with purpose and to do it with the people he loved the most, his family.

We thought it was about time we caught back up with him, to see how it has all been going.
