Nellie Bly was a whirlwind in a new form of journalism - Stunt Girl Journalism! At 23 years old she spent 10 days in the Women's Lunatic Asylum on Blackwell's Island, exposing the mistreatment of the marginilised in these institutions and sparking reform. Her investigative journalism would take her around the world and even to the Eastern Front during the Great War, but tht's only part of her story.

in 1975 two boys are playing out by the ruins of the old Mother and Baby Home in Tuam, Galway, ireland. They find a hole filled with very small bones. They tell everyone what tehy find and it is assumed that this is a famine grave. It's sealed up and ignored for 40 years until someone starts questioning what happened to the 796 children that died in The Home. Get ready for a very Irish scandal.

The Magdalene Laundries, operatied under the guise of reforming "fallen" and "wayward" women and girls, only to exploit and abuse those that were working and residing in them. Their history should not be forgotten.

Gisèle Pelicot, a woman who should have been enjoying her retirement and provincial life had it all come crashing down when she was brought into a police station in November 2020, where she was faced with the fact that she was abused by strangers for a decade, all of which was facilitated by her husband of half a century, Dominique Pelicot. She would be the centre of France's biggest rape trial, a symbol of femninsm and survivors across the globe.

Katherine Johnson was a woman whose calculations at NASA helped launch men into space (and bring them home again) shattering barriers for women and Black scientists. She was a mathematician, a human computer and an American hero. She's got the medals to prove it!

It's Black History Month, so let's pull a story from the vault, that of one William Dorsey Swann, who entered the world enslaved and would be the beacon of ballroom. Joy is an act of resistance, so listen up to the story of the first Queen of Drag!

Some stories from history are so impresive that they sound like you ripped them from a novel; an enslaved man steals a confederate ship, sails it to freedom and then fights the very nation that kept him in chains, well that's something worth talking about, welcome to the life of Robert Smalls.
