    Ms. Shih Goa̍t-hâ led a life filled withhardship and adversity. Her first husband was a highly talented secondaryschool teacher who was arrested and executed. To support her two children, sheworked as a singer in a hostess club, where she met her second husband—a universityprofessor and a 228 survivor. This episode uses Shih Yueh-hsia’s story to showhow political persecution impacts a family across several generations.
