Ep 317: Last Track Magic II (Great Album Closers)

In episode 317 of the podcast, we bring back an old favorite, ‘Last Track Magic’. These are songs that land the plane of a record, ones that the only position they could have been was the last track.

We each bring a few songs to the table, and we don’t know the others choices until we unveil them on the pod. We span the 80’s to nearly present day, and there are some all time bangers in this episode. What makes a great closing track for you? Hit us up!

Ep 315: 30 Years of Rage Against the Machine - Evil Empire

In episode 315 of the podcast, we look back at 30 years of Rage Against the Machine’s second studio album, ‘Evil Empire’.

We dig into our early memories of the record, it being our introduction into really deep diving a band/message, the phenomenal musicianship, Tom’s signature guitar work, Brad and Tim being wholly underrated as a rhythm section, Zack de la Rocha’s uncanny delivery and versatility, and so much more.

This record is one of the few reasons we are the music nerds you see and hear today. Without it and its message and delivery, we may never have dedicated our time to music the way we have for 30 years. Long live RATM.

Ep 311: A Conversation with Chris Wrenn (Bridge Nine Records, Sully’s Brand, Fenway Punk)

In episode 311 of the podcast, we’re joined by Chris Wrenn - founder and owner of Bridge Nine Records and Sully’s Brand, and author of the new book Fenway Punk: How a Boston Indie Label Scored Big on Baseball’s Greatest Rivalry.

We last had Chris on in Summer 2023, and a lot has happened since. We kick things off by catching up — from recent shows at the Bridge Nine Beverly, MA store to what’s new in the B9 world.

We then dig into Fenway Punk, which chronicles Chris’ story about how Boston's hardcore punks profited off the rivalry between the Red Sox and the New York Yankees in the seasons leading up to the 2004 World Series. He tells us the behind the scenes on starting Sully’s Brand Tees, and how he was able to parlay that success into releasing independent music for the coming 2+ decades. It’s truly an amazing tale!

Chris continues to be one of our favorite people to talk to. If you care about independent music, Boston sports lore, or entrepreneurship,  — this one’s for you.
