The making of smarter and more livable cities.
Together with Sophie, an AI guest, we talk about the year’s biggest topics and trends, from AI and digital tools to climate resilience, placemaking, community voices, and the future of the profession.
We also discuss what cities should stop doing, which skills planners need going forward, and what lessons we should carry into 2026.

Skate Nation is a Swedish initiative that helps integrate newly arrived youth through skateboarding. By offering free boards, coaching, and a welcoming community, they turn skating into a universal language, breaking barriers of background and language.
In our talk, we explored how urban designers can create inclusive skateparks that invite everyone to participate and feel safe.
We also discussed Skate Nation’s collaboration with Nobel Week Lights in Tensta, where light, art, and skate culture met, transforming public space into a place for movement, connection, and creativity.
🎧 Note: The audio quality isn’t perfect, this episode was recorded right in the middle of a skatepark. We’ve used AI to reduce background noise.

Wolfe Design Studio is led by architect and artist Alexander Wolfe. His work blends art, architecture, and design through collaboration with a network of creators, builders, and technicians.Like Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry, the artwork explores themes of memory and harmony. Discarded streetlamps from the Transport Department are transformed by the artist Wolfe Design Studio into a glowing responsive landscape.
The streetlamps illuminate the path, linger and slowly fade after each passerby, creating a gently pulsating environment that responds to human presence. An interactive soundscape including interpretations of Tagore’s poems read aloud by youths from the local hub Tensta Tech, can also be heard from within the installation.
The artwork is designed for all ages and invites the audience to engage with the urban landscape in a playful way. Streetlamp Grove Tensta is about connection, presence, and shared wonder.

Why does international collaboration matter in urban and community development? Isn’t local knowledge enough?
In this episode, Emma Shepherdson — social sustainability specialist, Chair of Arkitekter utan gränser, part of ShiftSweden, and process leader at White Arkitekter — shares how cross-border learning builds trust, strengthens democracy, and sparks innovation in city-making.
Emma takes us behind the scenes of projects from Sweden’s support in rebuilding Ukraine to neighbourhood work in Turkey, as well as earlier experiences in the Pacific and Latin America.
We also explore her personal journey from Australia to Tonga to Stockholm — what drives her passion for social sustainability, how she balances work and life, and the legacy she hopes to leave behind.
A conversation about curiosity, collaboration, and creating cities that connect us all.
