Jamie Snow's case to be featured on ABC's Nightline - June 3

We’re thrilled to share that Jamie Snow’s case will be featured on ABC’s Nightline

    on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.

This powerful national broadcast will shine a spotlight on the injustice that’s kept Jamie in prison for nearly 25 years — a conviction based on recanted informant testimony, inconsistent eyewitness accounts, and no physical evidence.

Jamie Snow’s wrongful conviction will be featured on ABC’s Nightline Tuesday, June 3. The segment features powerful voices calling for justice:

Jamie Snow, speaking out from prison in his own words

John Grisham, author & justice advocate

    Jason Flom, Wrongful Conviction podcast

Marty Tankleff, exoneree, attorney & co creator of Making an Exonoree at Georgetown

Marc Howard, Georgetown professor & co creator of Making an Exonoree at Georgetown

Karl Leonard, Jamie’s attorney, Exoneration Project

Nicole & Jessica Snow, Jamie’s daughters

Now, with a Leave to Appeal for DNA testing pending before the Illinois Supreme Court, this Nightline feature comes at a critical moment.

Please tune in — and continue sharing Jamie’s story. The more people know, the harder it becomes to ignore.

    Airs Tuesday, June 3rd on:

ABC NewsLive PRIME with Lindsey Davis @6 CST/7 EST

    Nightline @11:35 CST/12:35 EST

Watch with us live via Zoom @5:30 CST/6:30 EST

S3-EP42: Q&A: Sorry, Derek: Maurice Johnson - Alternative Suspects

Join co-hosts Lesley, Tam and Ray as they discuss the alternative suspect, Maurice Johnson in depth. We go really deep in this discussion! And you can also meet our new Intern, Melinda! So exciting!

In 1992, just 11 months after the murder of young Clark Gas Station attendant Bill Little, Kroger Station attendant Derek Brooks was shot in the chest during an armed robbery gone wrong, just 2.6 miles away. Like with Bill, the robber attempted to kill him with two shots to the chest, but the gun jammed. A petty sum of cash was stolen and the assailant fled in a maroon colored coupe, with a female get away driver. After being apprehended that same night, and identified with matching footprints and fingerprints, Maurice Johnson admitted to the crime, was charged with attempted murder and armed robbery, apologized to the victim, and was sentenced to twenty five years in prison. The same officers, detectives, and crime scene technicians worked both cases, and were key trial witnesses against Jamie Snow. They received a tip that Maurice Johnson admitted to the Clark Station robbery and murder. However, we cannot find any documents to suggest Maurice Johnson was ever investigated for Bill Little’s murder.

    S3-Bonus - Jamie's Songs

Jamie was blown away by his Christmas present this year. Six musicians from 6 completely different genres were commissioned to write, compose, and record a song about Jamie. The only information they received was information about Jamie and his case, and they were asked to write a song about whatever aspect or view point resonated with them - whether it was from Jamie's point of view, a supporter's point of view, his family - anything goes. And man, did they really step up to the plate! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful these artists were to work with on this project. They were so in tune, pardon the pun, with Jamie's plight, and our efforts to overturn his wrongful conviction. They were filled with hope for his release, and that has everything to do with you. I have no doubt they garnered material from his support network because the lyrics speak for themselves. Thank you for that. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do! You can see pictures of the artists who are not anonymous and read the lyrics on the episode page on SnowFiles.net. All of them are simply amazing. So - for best listening, slap on your headphones - and don't forget to let us know what you think! Lyrics and links to the individual MP3's in the show notes.

    Lyrics: Snowman (acoustic, soulful)

    by Anonymous

    [verse 1]

    Locked up

    It get colder every year

    And for what

How the hell did we end up here?

    No evidence.. no lessons learnt

No trial to clear a name

Are we just playing a game

In a world full of shame

And as the snow began to fall

I could hear the angels calling

    [chorus]

you see truth will always win

    You’ll be home once again

    Oh the winter snow

    Will always show there’s hope

And it's like gold. And time will tell

So hold on, your pain is felt

    There won’t be no rest

    We’ll do our best

To get you home, where you belong

    Once again.

    [verse 2]

    22 long years

    Far too many tears

It’s hard to imagine the pain

    You feel each day

    And stay, and wait and

    Up, up all night

It soon will be, be your time to

    To relinquish this pain

    And hold your name

As a symbol of hope and

As the snow begins to fall

I can hear the angels calling

    [chorus]

    [bridge]

    Locked up, for nothing

    Justice is coming

I said locked up, right here, for nothing

    Justice, it's here, it's coming

    [chorus]

    Lyrics: Justice Shine (pop/country/ukulele)

    by Kel

    I see a snowman outside

that’s what they call me inside

    of this awful place

    I did no mistake

    it’s so hard to breathe

    without family

    although they’re with me

    with their hearts baby

    [chorus]

    Yes I know

    that I’ll hear something good

    it will happen this time

    Now is the time

And I know that I have you

    now is the time

    now is the time

    bright oh justice shine!

    And deep down I know

    I am not alone

    though it’s 22

    that i’ve been without you

    I’ll freeze my hands someday

    cause i’ll finally

    feel the snowman’s frost

    with my fingertips

    [chorus]

    I need your strength

yes i feel that you are with me

    what is next?

    i want to be free

    Yes I know

    that I’ll hear something good

    it will happen this time

    Now is the time

    And I know

    that I have you

    now is the time

    now is the time

    bright oh justice

    bright oh justice shine!

    Lyrics: Pray for Snow (Rap)

    by Anonymous

    Pray for snow

    Pray for snow

    Pray for snow

    Pray for snow

    They sayin he did it

    he's sayin he didn't

    before you pass judgement

let me tell you the story behind the sentence

    Of a dear friend

    serving life without parole

It could be one of many

but this time the name is Jamie Snow

Locked up for a murder in a place

that he didn't even go to

sitting in a cage on year 22

for a crime that happened Easter Sunday 91

then 10 years later prosecutors sayin Jamie was the one, with the gun

but when they lined 'em up

eyewitnesses never said number 6 was the one

informants got bills and if not they were threatened

    most likely to be killed

    and to make matters worse

Jamie's court appointed attorney went to prison

    dealing with his own addiction

like the first officer on the scene

    who also went to prison

    no murder weapon is listed

and they been fighting the DNA testing

The case is finally getting traction

    Will you help us?

    We're talking about a life

So we gotta be now or never

We gotta keep that pressure on

cause we can never let up

Send the documents and the letters

Something's wrong I hope you get the picture

You got the wrong man in the middle

and that's the facts, we not talking riddles

Just trying to make it home before another Christmas

    Pray for snow

    Pray for snow

    Pray for snow

This can't be my legacy (shout out)

Just waiting for that call (shout out)

I need some good news (shout out)

I need some good news (shout out)

    It doesn't feel any good

No matter how I try to prove

You know you've got the wrong guy

    [chorus]

    It's not right

    I won't quit the fight

I got a life that's out there for me

Let me get back at what I used to be

    You know it wasn't me

You fought to hide the proof

But now I see the truth

    Still won't test DNA

    [chorus]

    It's not right

    I won't quit the fight

I got a life that's out there for me

Let me get back at what I used to be

I saw my kids grow up in pictures

    Behind these cold, gray walls

    [chorus]

I got a life that's out there for me

    Lyrics: Free at last

    by: Sparoxzy

    I'm in chains, in bondage

    I'm caged, I'm stuck here

And it's been awhile in here, it's been awhile

but I can't wait to breathe the air of freedom

lying on the grass, gazing at the stars

    oh it's been awhile

It might be dark right now

but someday I'll see the light

    someday I'll see the light

    Ohh oh oh ohhh

It might be dark right now

but someday I'll see the light

    someday I'll see the light

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last, oh oh

    I'm in pain

    I'm broken and somedays

I feel like I shouldn't wake from my bed

so I pray for better days

    and I

    I know I'm not alone

    I know I'm not alone

And I know that someday I'll be home

It might be dark right now

but someday I'll see the light

    someday I'll see the light

It might be dark right now

but someday I'll see the light

    someday I'll see the light

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

and I will scream out loud

    I'm free at last

    I'm free at last

    Free at last

    Oh oh ohhh

    I'll be free at last

    I'll be free at last

I can't wait to be free

    Free, free at last

    Lyrics: Snowman (metal)

    by Theodore Rondeau

    No matter it's so far

It won't give me back my time

    Go, my heart torn apart

    For an unfair crime

    Snowman Life

    Cold as night

    Fear of hope

    I can't believe noone anymore

I just see my life in picture

It belongs to me...I am sure

    Snowman

I can now freeze the fate

I won't let come the hate

    Sinless life for a jail

For my innocence you give me hell

    My tears on 6 photographies

    My pain flies in ashes

    ashes

    Good call from the justice

What else to say? Fuck the police

Look at me, the mistake you've done

What if it was your son?

    your son

    I will never be down

    I will always hold on

    Life without parole sentence

    Will bring you repentance

    I will never be crowned

For all this past life gone

But I'm still who I am

    Nothing more than Snowman

S3-EP42: Q&A: Big Jeff-Little Jeff: Jeff Durbin and Jeff Miller - Alternative Suspects

Join co-hosts Bruce, Lesley, Tam and Ray as they discuss the "Jeff's" in depth. An extra long episode for you listening pleasure. We also start with Bruce and Ray's thoughts on the Bible Story episode because they were unable to join us on the pop up episode. Lot's of interesting theories and laughs in this one!

In August of 1991, just five months after the murder of young gas station attendant Bill Little, a string of other gas station robberies plagued Bloomington. Jeff Miller and Jeff Durbin colluded to rob gas stations together with a gun, for petty sums of cash. Durbin was the getaway driver, and planned to use doctored cab driver’s log sheets to evade detection. Miller chose an Adam’s Family Halloween mask. Regardless, Miller was identified by people who knew him when he behaved erratically after the last robbery, and the two eventually confessed, being sentenced to 38 years behind bars between the two. These known, convicted, and self-admitted robbers were never seriously investigated for the strikingly similar robbery and murder of Bill Little. Listen to hear how they avoided prosecution for Jamie’s case, and the ominous remarks made by one of them, after coming face to face with Jamie, post conviction.
