Not too long ago I had a listener reach out and ask if I’d do an episode about navigating divorce. Her parents had just announced theirs, and this listener found herself lost in this new space. I promised her I would. I promised because there were so many times early in my parents’ divorce, and even now, 18 years later, when I wished I would have been able to hear someone else’s story, when I wanted to feel less alone, when I needed help better understanding and better navigating what was going on.
Rather than just share my personal experience and what I’ve learned over the last nearly two decades, I’ve invited my friend Dr. Matt Townsend to help guide this discussion and offer his expert advice for not just navigating divorce as the child or parent when it happens, but also for navigating our relationships before it even becomes a possibility.
So today, this episode is for that listener, and hopefully it helps many others.
