The Padres returned home hoping to snap their five-game losing streak, but instead fell flat again in a frustrating 5-0 loss to the New York Mets at Petco Park.

Michael King was solid at times but was burned by the bottom of the Mets lineup, surrendering home runs to Jared Young and Luis Torrens. Torrens, the Mets’ number nine hitter, finished with two hits, two RBI, a double, and a home run while helping lead New York’s offense.

Meanwhile, the Padres offense continues to be the story for all the wrong reasons. San Diego managed just three hits all night and only ONE hit after the second inning. Christian Scott and the Mets bullpen completely shut down the Padres lineup as the Friars dropped their sixth straight game and have now lost 10 of their last 11.

The San Diego Padres are swept out of Philadelphia after a 6-4 loss to the Phillies on Thursday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park.

For the third straight day, the story was not just the offense—it was another brutal seventh inning. After Manny Machado blasted a two-run homer off Zack Wheeler to pull the Padres within 3-2, the bullpen immediately unraveled in the bottom half of the inning.

Adrian Morejon walked the leadoff hitter, the Padres defense fell apart, the Phillies took advantage, and a three-run inning turned a one-run game into a 6-2 deficit.

Manny Machado and Jackson Merrill both homered, accounting for all four Padres runs. Merrill added late drama with a two-run blast in the ninth inning, but the comeback fell short.

The Padres have now:

• Lost 5 straight games

• Lost 9 of their last 10

• Fallen to 32-28

• Been swept by Philadelphia

• Dropped to 0-6 against the Phillies in 2026

The San Diego Padres dropped their fourth straight game Wednesday night, falling 3-2 to the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park.

Walker Buehler delivered exactly what the Padres needed, allowing just one run over six strong innings while striking out six. He shut down Bryce Harper, struck out Kyle Schwarber twice, and continued his dominance of Trea Turner, who remains winless against him in their career matchups.

The Padres finally ended Cristopher Sánchez’s historic scoreless innings streak, becoming the first team to break through after more than 50 consecutive scoreless innings from the Phillies ace. Ty France doubled and Jackson Merrill delivered the game-tying RBI in the seventh.

Unfortunately for San Diego, Jason Adam surrendered back-to-back home runs to J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber moments later, flipping the game and ultimately deciding the outcome.

The Padres nearly stole it back in the eighth. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Miguel Andujar sparked a rally, Gavin Sheets walked with the bases loaded, Xander Bogaerts was hit by a pitch to force in a run, and Manny Machado came to the plate representing the biggest moment of the night. But the Padres could only score once and left the tying and go-ahead runs on base.

Now San Diego has lost eight of its last nine games and will try to avoid the sweep Thursday afternoon.

The Padres dropped a tough one Tuesday night in Philadelphia, falling 3-2 to the Phillies despite a strong effort from Fernando Tatis Jr. and another big swing from Gavin Sheets.

Sheets launched his 10th home run of the season, a two-run shot off Aaron Nola, while Tatis finished with three hits and scored both Padres runs. But San Diego went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position, struck out 12 times, and failed to capitalize on several late opportunities.

Bryce Harper’s two-run homer tied the game in the fourth inning before Philadelphia manufactured the winning run in the sixth. The Padres threatened throughout the second half of the game but couldn’t deliver the timely hit.

The Padres have now lost 3 games in a row and 7 of their last 8.

The San Diego Padres missed a golden opportunity to win a road series Sunday afternoon, falling 4-2 to the Washington Nationals in the rubber match at Nationals Park.

Jackson Merrill did everything he could, finishing 3-for-4 and sparking the Padres’ only rally of the afternoon, but San Diego managed just six hits and went 1-for-3 with runners in scoring position.

Griffin Canning actually gave the Padres a chance, allowing three runs in five innings, but solo homers by Luis Garcia Jr. and James Wood accounted for all of Washington’s damage against the right-hander.

The game completely turned in the seventh inning.

The Padres finally broke through against Zack Littell as Xander Bogaerts walked, Merrill dropped down a bunt single, and Ty France ripped an RBI double. Nick Castellanos followed with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3-2 and put the tying run 90 feet away.

But San Diego couldn’t deliver the knockout punch.

The inning ended with Song caught stealing after beating the throw but oversliding second base.

Washington immediately answered in the bottom half with a run-scoring double by Andres Chaparro to reclaim momentum and extend the lead to 4-2.

Then, in a bizarre twist, Jackson Merrill suffered the same fate in the ninth inning, beating a steal attempt but oversliding second base during a strike-him-out, throw-him-out double play.

The Padres fall to 32-26 and lose a winnable series in Washington despite another outstanding day from Merrill.

The Padres looked like they were on their way to another series win Saturday in Washington.

Xander Bogaerts got things started with a 417-foot solo homer in the second inning, Manny Machado added a blast in the fourth, and Fernando Tatis Jr. crushed a 451-foot moonshot in the fifth — his longest home run since 2021.

Meanwhile, Michael King was absolutely dominant.

King needed just 64 pitches through six innings, was carving up the Nationals lineup with every pitch in his arsenal, and appeared headed toward one of the most efficient starts of the season. The Padres led 3-1 and were in complete control.

Then everything unraveled.

Washington exploded for SIX runs in the seventh inning as the Padres defense, pitching and execution all broke down at once. A controversial force-play challenge, missed opportunities to end the inning, a hit batter, RBI hits, defensive miscues and a flood of Nationals baserunners turned a comfortable Padres lead into a 7-3 deficit.

Manny Machado tried to bring the Padres back with an RBI double in the eighth, and San Diego loaded the bases after a huge overturned walk call to Bogaerts, but they couldn’t deliver the big hit they needed.

The Nationals answered immediately with a two-run double from Carson Mead and slammed the door on San Diego’s comeback hopes  with a 9-4 win that evens the series at a game apiece.
