28 May 2026, 7:40 pm - 21 minutes 1 secondThe Latest Zogby Political Poll: Trump, Economic Concerns & War Trends – 05.22.26
In this episode, John and Jeremy Zogby analyze new political polling data on Trump’s influence, economic worries, and war sentiments shaping the election landscape.
Show Notes: John and Jeremy Zogby discuss a new Zogby Strategies poll taken Thursday–Friday amid a week in which Trump showed strong influence over Republicans early (primary defeats of Thomas Massie and Bill Cassidy) but saw Congress reject his requests for a $1.776B “weaponization” fund, $900M for a White House ballroom, and added security funding.
Our poll shows Trump at 44% approval and 54% disapproval (minus 10), with weaker ratings on the economy (40/57) and affordability (37/58). Democrats lead the generic congressional ballot 49–42. On the Iran war, 29% support boots on the ground and 61% oppose; impact from gas costs is significant for 48%.
Top voting issues are economy/inflation (48), healthcare, immigration (19), and Iran war close behind (18), with discussion of a convergence of war and economic concerns and perceptions of reduced U.S. credibility (41 more credible, 48 less).
We also look at Democrats’ handling of a redacted 2024 campaign autopsy and broader party issues.

Today on the podcast we have new numbers on the battle for Congress in 2026. This is an important one. Historically the president’s party takes a beating in the midterms and the numbers are shaping to support that narrative.
Republicans have lost 30 elections since Trump’s term started and the redistricting moves in Texas have seen other states follow suit with the latest vote in Virginia putting Democrats in a position to pick up their own seats.
We’ll also factor in the war in Iran and how that is playing into the minds of voters. Has it effectively boxed in the president and GOP?
Thanks for tuning in – we’ll see you next week.

20 April 2026, 4:25 pm - 24 minutes 10 secondsIs This Make Or Break for Iran or Trump? – 04.07.26In this April 7th episode of Real Polling in Real Time with Zogby, John and Jeremy discuss where things stand politically, arguing that the President has become an “agent of chaos” who cannot also be a source of stability, and noting recent elections decided by small margins as a reminder that votes still matter. We’ll look at several key demographics that helped Trump in the 2024 election and the collapse of that support over the past year. What does this mean for his decision making on the economy and foreign policy as well as the Democrat’s prospect for the midterms. The conversation then turns to the President’s news conference and his ultimatum to Iran, saying that by 8:00 PM Eastern time there must be some form of capitulation or cessation of hostile acts, or the U.S. would “bomb everything in sight,” though they note it’s unclear what that would mean and that Iran does not appear ready to capitulate. Thanks for tuning in and we’ll see you next week with new polling. Read a transcript of this episode > John Zogby Strategies · Is This Make Or Break for Iran or Trump – 04.07.25

Today on the podcast we need to talk about the elephant in the room which is the war in Iran. It was exactly one week ago today that we thought the negotiations were going well between the US and Iran – only to have the bombing start the next morning. So today let’s talk about Iran, a conflict that has produced confusion, shifting justification, and no clear exit strategy. We’re pollsters, so we’ll start by looking at the polls regarding this military action, and some of what we’re seeing when looking various polls from various agencies. We’ll also discuss comparisons to the start of the Iraq war under George W. Bush, and how the disruption of the Strait of Hormuz could spike oil prices and destabilize supply chains and the global economy. Finally we need to ask the question: “Did Trump just set off the Great Reset?” – a series of events that lead to global realignment? Thanks for tuning in and we’ll see you next week.
