In the early morning hours of February 17, 1970, military police responded to an on base apartment in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Inside the home of Army doctor Jeffrey MacDonald, they discovered a horrific scene, his pregnant wife, Colette, and their two young daughters brutally murdered.

MacDonald survived and stated that a group of drug-crazed intruders committed the killings.

The DA presented five weeks of evidence in People v. Letecia Stauch in Colorado Springs. And while prosecutors secured a conviction in 2023, this case may have been compromised long before opening statements ever began.

In April 2026, the Colorado Court of Appeals granted Letecia Stauch a new trial, pointing to a critical issue of juror bias.

On August 1, 1966, what began as a normal summer day on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin turned into one of the most horrifying acts of violence in American history. In 96 minutes, Marine veteran Charles Whitman claimed 14 lives. Add to that count the lives he took before this massacre, and another life who died 3 decades later due to complications, the total count was 17 murder victims, plus dozens more injured.
