Set in a sprawling, checkpoint-choked metropolis divided sharply between the rich and the poor, The Strata weaves together an ensemble of stories into one larger, interconnected narrative. What really stood out to us after listening is how character-driven the show is. While the sci-fi backdrop is epic, the focus stays firmly on people: their compromises, their survival tactics, and the lines they’re willing (or unwilling) to cross. Each season centers on a different character grappling with themes like corruption, inequality, immortality, and the double-edged nature of technology. It’s gritty, thoughtful, and deeply human, even when it gets violent.

At its core, The Strata is about life at the bottom rung of society. How do people endure injustice when the system is stacked against them? What happens to relationships under that pressure? And what does “rising above” actually look like when the odds are overwhelming?
